[Dovecot] STATUS command and total/read message count

Hello, I'm running Dovecot 1.0.15 with Thunderbird 3.0.1. TB can query folders for messages in two ways: Either by using the STATUS command, or by opening the folder (don't know the respective IMAP commands, sorry...). Querying via opening the folder is reliable, but via the STATUS command, only new/unread messages are shown. If I want to have the total number of (unread) mesages in a folder, I have to manually open it, so the headers are loaded. Is this a Dovecot issue, or a problem with Thunderbird? In other words: Does the STATUS command only return new/unread messages, or can this be configured on the server side? Thanks, Florian

Hello Everyone... Some time ago, i send some questions about plugins and concat 2 file handles. So, there is another questions about this. Timo Sirainen send to me this modification, in src/lib-storage/index/maildir/maildir-mail.c struct istream *full_input[3]; full_input[0] = i_stream_create_fd(fd, 0, TRUE); full_input[1] = i_stream_create_fd(fd1, 0, TRUE); full_input[2] = NULL; input = i_stream_create_concat(full_ input); This is necessary because my Header and Body is splited. This modification works fine. My question is: There is a way to do this with a plugin ? I dont know how to implement this in a plugin, because i dont know what is the hook to change the maildir_open_mail functions. (this is the function with the modification above) . Another question is: There is a seek function, in dovecot, and in zlib plugin, it is rewrite by another function, that use the "gzseek" to do the seek. My splited body will be encrypted, and the crypto no have seek, because the message will be encrypted. (if i open the message, decrypt and seek to some position, maybe work). The seek function is really necessary to IMAP and maildir ?

[Dovecot] Are Mail files in /Maildir/cur & /Maildir/.Sent read-only ?

Hi ALL... I want to know if the files in /Maildir/cur & /Maildir/.Sent are modified by dovecot. I have a script which calculates the age of the mail files. I think that if they are continuously modified by dovecot I won't be able to calculate the age of the files. Can Anyone plz advise on this.... [Dovecot] read-only dovecot-uidlist

Hi all, i just investigated a user complaint and found a read-only dovecot-uidlist. Since dovecot couldnt write it, the process failed. Users can not reach this file, so how this became readonly is beyond me. Must be something in dovecot. Maybe an older bug? Doing a search now for more readonly uidlist files, but that'll take a few hours. Cor

Hi, Just wondering, is there a development version or the like of the dovecot-antispam plugin, that works with the Dovecot 2.0 beta? I'm starting to poke at the new version (mdbox looks really handy for my use case); I'm also starting to play with dspam, but I'm finding it annoying to train dspam without it having direct access to my (rather-large existing) spam folder... [Dovecot] backup & restore mailbox files manually

Hi ALL... Am working on a solution to backup maildir mailboxes using rsync. All mailbox directories are mirrored on another machine. I need advise regarding restore of the INBOX & SENT files from the backup. For e.g , [1] Can I just copy "file-x-y-z" from /Maildir/cur to restore it on /Maildir/cur on the mailserver. [2] Can I do same for SENT emails ? [Dovecot] acl flag to limit imap_acl based acl changes

Hi all! I have tried the imap_acl plugin with 1.2.9 today, but was not able to limit acl changes for those mailboxes where acl changes should be forbidden. http://wiki.dovecot.org/ACL says that "a" or "admin" covers "Administration rights to the mailbox". However, removing "a" from owner acl (using "lr") does not help, the user can still change all acl flags for all users with imap. Write accesses to mails are forbidden as they should. Is this intended or a bug? We would like to give all users the ability to use ACLs through IMAP, but the current behaviour endangers our read-only mail archives. Hi all I'm testing dovecot to migrate from a cyrus 2.2 With TB2 if I use "subscribe" dovecot crash but only if I enable a shared namespace. Without explicit namespace or only with private namespace "subscribe" works Is this a problem already fixed in 1.2.10? is it a problem of my configuration?
