[Dovecot] Lots of pop3-logins

Hello, Doing a "ps aux" on my Slackware box, I have approx 100 PID's of "pop3-login's going on. This is a production mail server, but it is getting VERY low traffic. In fact, only 3 people can "pop3" into it. I've check their e-mail clients, and they are not checking mail any more often than every 5 minutes. This is a new installation and I've had the server up and running since Sunday. If it matters, I'm using Postfix for the MTA and using the Dovecot SASL library to AUTH SMTP. Is this a cause for concern? Why does Dovecot need this many processes? Thanks! Rodman

[Dovecot] Quota_rules ignored

Today I upgraded to version 1.1.16 of Dovecot (and Sieve), because I wanted to use mailbox quotas. I tried using the instructions on http://wiki.dovecot.org/Quota/1.1 and simular websites for 4 hours now, but it seems that all quota_rules are ignored. Also, whenever I use a '*' in my MySQL query I get the error: 'unknown quota backend'. Hello, I have installed postfix 2.5.1 + dovecot 1.0.13 + MySQL and it all works perfectly. I use deliver as the local delivery agent and use IMAP only with maildir mailboxes. I am using virtual mailboxes. Now I wanted to introduce quotas, but I can't manage to make them work. Quota information is retreived from MySQL in userdb requests. I have noticed that the maildirsize file is not updated by deliver when a new mail comes in. I don't know if this is correct or not... It is updated though when I log in. But even then mails are still received without any kind of problem while the mailbox is well over the quota. I tried to add a "-v" option to deliver in postfix's master.cf to debug deliver, but it apparently does not like this option. Please find below my postfix and dovecot's configurations. [Dovecot] Dovecot Problem

Every 2 or 3 days dovecot will not allow me to log into my IMAP server. It keeps requesting my username and password. If I do a /etc/init.d/dovecot restart it will start working again for a few days. I have dovecot set up to use Maildir. Hello, Some users subscribe to several mailing lists which causes them to have the same message several times what they do not want . Hi all, I just set up a dovecot+postfix+roundcubemail+spamassassin system with virtual users. These applications work fine, I have a problem with the dovecot-antispam plugin. There is apparently still one rare crashing bug in virtual plugin, but unless someone can reproduce the bug I'm not going to delay v1.2.0 because of it. The release plan is: - Release v1.2.rc7 next Friday (assuming there have been some fixes) - Release v1.2.0 the next Monday I'll be giving a Dovecot talk in Berlin on July 2nd, and I really want to have v1.2.0 released by them. So July 1st is the absolute final deadline for v1.2.0. :) Changes since rc5: * imap proxy: Pass through to client unexpected untagged replies from remote server (e.g. alerts). * Solr: Don't use "any" copyfield, it doubles the index size. * mail_location: Allow using ":" characters in dir names by escaping it as "::". - mbox: Don't crash with invalid From_-lines. - IMAP: Don't crash if IDLE command is pipelined after a long-running UID FETCH or UID SEARCH. - ACL / shared mailbox fixes - Some metadata files were incorrectly getting 0666 permissions.

I have a question about migration from courier-imap. I have a server running courier-imap which I'd like to change to dovecot. The problem at hand is that there are POP3 users as well as IMAP4 users.Some of the POP3 users have the option to "leave a copy of the message on the server" set in their MuAs.
