[Dovecot] Help - I keep getting LSUB permission denied

Hi, I am using dovecot: 1.0.rc15 I was upgrading Debian and installed new versions of lots of things. My mail came fine and I though there was not problem until a user called and said it was not working through webmail. I tried, it it worked fine and I realized the problem was with dovecot. I have created new users, tried different UIDs. Removed any protections but when I telnet to the port, I get this: a02 LSUB "" "*" * LSUB () "/" "Trash" * LSUB () "/" "Junk" * LSUB () "/" "Sent" * LSUB () "/" "Junk E-mail" * LSUB () "/" "INBOX/Sent" * LSUB () "/" "INBOX/Trash" * LSUB () "/" "INBOX/Drafts" a002 NO Permission denied when I do it on my account, I get: * LSUB () "/" "INBOX/Sent" * LSUB () "/" "INBOX/Trash" * LSUB () "/" "INBOX/Drafts" a002 OK Lsub completed. I have tried making the directory 777, checked the owners. Copied my Maildir into the other user's to see if I could figure out what could be going on, but I still get the same behavior. [Dovecot] Stopping imap synchronization on spool failure

Is there any way to tell an IMAP client to not synchronize/delete old mail through IMAP? Let's say that recent events cause a mail spool to not exist, but people may still want to see old messages that are already cached on their machines.

[Dovecot] Postfix, Dovecot, SASL, and Virtual Domains

My saga continues, with a few interruptions, to configure a new mail server for several domains. I've had one private post, and read a dozen of more HOWTOs, HOWDONEs, blogs, and posts on doing this but still haven't had any joy. Not quite sure what I got configured incorrectly so before doing more work on this I'll ask if what I'm trying to do is doable. Postfix: mydomain being one of the domains I'm hosting. myhostname will be from one of the hosted domains ... later no local users (except possibly root) Dovecot to authentication/authorize and Deliver to ... well ... deliver :-) Dovecot: users looked up by domain in /var/mail/vhosts/%d/passwd (?) mail placed (after mail sieve) placed in /var/mail/vhosts/$d/$u/Maildir/ Most of the HOWTOs and friends are using PostgreSQL, LDAP, or MySQL but I'd like to hold off on this until I feel more comfortable and informed on how Dovecot, Deliver, and Postfix work together. So am I out to lunch? I think right now it is I'm confused on what/how userdb and passdb are used. (This is my next RTFM on the list.) Thanks for any help, suggestions, or clue-sticks! Rod --

After upgrading from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 the imap process crashes as soon as moving a mail to the Trash folder. Belows backtrace points to the expire plugin... [Dovecot] Expire Plugin

I was struggling for a while to get the expire plugin to expunge mail. I was using (and still would like to use) PAM as passdb and passwd as userdb but with this I could not get the expire-tool to delete any mails. For debugging purpose I switch to passwd-file as userdb/passdb and enabled mail_debug=yes. 1. passwd-file contains home directory and userdb_mail (->working!) /etc/dovecot/dovecot.users: foo:{plain}xxxx:2004:100::/home/foo::userdb_mail=maildir:~/Maildir root@mail:# dovecot --exec-mail ext /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/expire-tool --test Info: maildir: data=~/Maildir Info: maildir++: root=/home/foo/Maildir, index=, control=, inbox=/home/foo/Maildir Info: Trash: seq=1 uid=2586: Expunge Info: Trash: timestamp 1220392046 -> 1220451447 2. passwd-file contains home directory only (->not working!) /etc/dovecot/dovecot.users: foo:{plain}xxxx:2004:100::/home/foo root@mail:# dovecot --exec-mail ext /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/expire-tool --test Info: maildir: data=/root/Maildir Info: maildir++: root=/root/Maildir, index=, control=, inbox=/root/Maildir Error: stat(/root/Maildir/.Trash/tmp) failed: Permission denied (euid=2005 egid=100) The expire-tool doesn't find foo's mailbox even if mail_location is set global in the configuration file (please see below). This is exactly the same result as when using PAM and passwd. Hi, we recently upgraded dovecot from 1.0.5 to 1.1.3+latest patches. After the upgrade I saw some errors in the logs and I'm not sure whether they're a cause for concern. Our setup is 2 servers running openSUSE 11.0 and a NetApp Filer as storage backend. Not many people have been testing v1.2 releases. Wonder if there's something I could do to improve that. I guess v1.2 is kind of missing those killer features that would get a lot of people to try it. :) I've slowly started working on replication, but I've been pretty busy with school recently. I'm hoping to become a bit less busy when some of the courses end in a few weeks, but then again I should also write my B.Sc. essay ("Scalable high-performance email setups" in Finnish) before christmas and that'll probably take some time if I want to do it well.
