Greetings We have recently switched from mbox to Maildir so that we can implement symlinks for a large email account that is shared (partially) between some 20 or so users. The setup is dovecot-1.0.3-6.fc6, procmail-3.22-17.1, sendmail-8.13.8-2. Procmail has a single recipe in /etc/procmailrc that simply says "DEFAULT=$HOME/Maildir/". The problem is that I am seeing a lot of blank emails being created. For exaample, every time I open a folder from this shared account, I get either one or two emails being created on the spot. The are /always/ created with the current date and time stamp (i.e. now) and at the same time a tail -f of maillog shows something like this: > May 19 09:10:05 sydsrv56 dovecot: IMAP(plans): Fixed a duplicate: > dovecot-shared:2, -> 1211152205.P10039Q1.sydsrv56 The only thing that appears to change is the last modified date and time of the two files, dovecot.index.log and dovecot.index.cache. Should I be maintaining separate index files or lock files for each user in this shared account? Currently the Maildir is shared and has the g+s bit set. [Dovecot] Postfix & Dovecot LDA

Hi, before I start to write a lengthy email about something that isn't really possible anyway: can I make Postfix use Dovecot's LDA and start it with different user IDs? My scenario: Dovecot authenticates users for Postfix and itself using Postgresql. Mails for two domains should be stored under /srv/<domain>/<user> (which is the location returned by my user_sql query and mail_location). When my clients login (with usernames of the form 'user@domain'), Dovecot creates/opens the correct mailboxes for them, but I can't get LDA to deliver to these mailboxes. Whatever I try, I am always running into some kind of permission problems (either for the mailboxes, or for auth_socket). I want to use a unique UID for every virtual domain, so I guess LDA needs to have permissions for every corresponding mailbox *and* Dovecot's auth_socket_path. Is there a good solution for this which doesn't involve severe security implications? J. -- If all my friends had Playstations I would buy a Nintendo to prove my individuality. [Dovecot] Security Hole in 1.0.13?

After starting dovecot again after a few minutes the files appear. The processes are running something on 6243 and 6244 (Presumably an exploit / login) I have iptables setup to only allow existing ports in/out so I think thats saved me so far. I've switched to courier-imap in the interim. Anyone want to assist in finding out how they are getting in? Definitely dovecot related. If I don't run dovecot, seems secure. Missing NFS flushes, support for mmap_disable=yes, breaks when more than one session modifies at the same time. Not tested much if the replies are really correct at all. Also started THREAD=X-REFERENCES2 but it doesn't work as expected. 2. http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-virtualboxes/ Virtual mailboxes. Nothing changed since http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2008-March/029546.html 3. http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-condstore/ Implemented CONDSTORE, QRESYNC, ESEARCH, SEARCHRES and WITHIN extensions. The only known problem left is making CONDSTORE's STORE UNCHANGEDSINCE operation atomic, but it requires changing transaction log file format. Maybe I'll do it and just make v1.1 and v1.0 be able to read the format and just ignore the modseq in the record. Those code trees don't contain all the latest changes from v1.1 tree. So at some point I'll start merging all of them into one dovecot-1.2 code tree. v1.1 is coming along pretty nicely. I'll make a new RC release in a few days. After that probably one more and then v1.1.0. Tomorrow begins a 5 week lab course at school. Every day and about 8 hours a day. And then we'll also have to write these reports about what we have done and how/why, which takes quite a lot of time as well. After 5 weeks there's one free week and then probably another 2 week lab course if I get selected there. So I doubt I can get much Dovecot work done for the next two months. It's also likely that I won't be answering mails much in this list either.

I have been seeing this crash, which has been reported before but apparently not yet resolved. As with the previous reporters, I do not know how to reproduce it reliably. Changes: - Improved vacation reply checks, log discarded vacation replies (in v1.0.3, these were already in v1.1.0) - Expand ~ to home directory in sieve path - If compiled script has the exact same mtime as the source script, assume the script hasn't changed (changed "<" check to "<="). - Unfold multiline headers before comparing them. - Improved error logging.
