[Dovecot] reason to switch to 1.1

[Dovecot] Imap sent folder sometimes dosen't get updated in dovecot-1.1-rc3(+some current hg patches)

Yes, again, some sent emails don't get copied to sent folder. This time I get the following error: Error: IMAP(username): UIDs broken with partial sync in mbox file /maildir/username/Sent This happened at least with thunderbird and with evolution. Dovecot is running on vith fcntl locking on Centos5, sendmail should use fcntl, too. Filesystem is ext3 on drbd partition. After a grep vith dovecot.log I see the same error message also with other imap folders as well (mainly Trash imap folder). Should I try to get a rawlog? Regards, Diego.

[Dovecot] icedove update

Something came up that Confounded problems in my move from UW-imap to dovecot. I found a problem with the new icedove update in Debian lenny when moving from 1.5.0.13+1.5.0.14b.dfsg1-0etch1 to 2.0.0.9-3 that could look like a dovecot issue. Icedove runs for a while but eventually quits updating the displayed email, yet appears to be working and busy trying to get messages from the server. I think it is related to message filters, but not sure. The fix was to move .mozilla-thundrebird somewhere and restart icedove and create a new profile. [Dovecot] sieve doesn't sift yet

Hi all, I am having difficulty getting sieve working. I created a simple set of rules which I've validated on the sieve-php page at SF. I placed this file, .dovecot.sieve, in the root of my maildir, which I understand is the default location. I also created a logfile in /var/log, but nothing has gotten written to it yet. [Dovecot] Public Namespace + ACLs + virtual users

g'day! I'd just like to share my experience with public namespace and ACLs. I know this has been discussed a number of times in the past, but there were no definite answers. dovecot version i'm using: 1.0.13 Got a public namespace setup in dovecot.conf as follows: namespace public { separator = . prefix = Public_Folders. location = maildir:/home/vmail/domains/% d/Public_Folders:CONTROL=/home/vmail/domains/%d/% n/Public_Folders/support:INDEX=/home/vmail/domains/%d/% n/Public_Folders/index hidden = no } In it's own right this works just fine and it's been in use for some time now. But we need some control over who can access and delete things. So I had a go at configuring ACLs. I configured global ACLs, because as far as I can tell, per directory ACLs seem to be ignored. Once configured global ACLs work fine, except for 1 major issue; users cannot create new folders because ACLs do not get propagated (are not applied to the subfolders). If an user attempts to create a new (sub)folder, the folder is created on the filesystem however email client throws an error and the folder is inaccessible to the user as there is no ACL for it. Any pointers how to get around this? Has this been dealt with in v1.1? Regards Natko Muzina

[Dovecot] Problems with Public Folders

[Dovecot] Mail deletion

[Dovecot] antispam for Dovecot 1.1

Hi Johannes. I wanted to try out the antispam plugin for a Dovecot 1.1 install, only to learn that 1.1 is actually not supported. Are there any plans to remedy this? If not, is it known how much effort is required? (i.e. could I do it myself?). Thanks, Anders.

[Dovecot] Does a script exist to fix broken maildir timestamps?

Hello, When I upgraded to dovecot (changing servers at the same time) in November last year I copied the maildirs from my old server without using the -p option to preserve timestamps! Since my mail client displays the email dates based on the Date header rather than the imap "internaldate" I didn't notice the problem until today when I tried to migrate an account to gmail using imapsync and found that all emails prior to November display the wrong date in the web interface (they show the date they were copied in November). I feel very silly. Before I go try to hack together a script which parses all my older email files and changes the timestamps to the time recorded in the "Date:" header, does anyone know if robust, tested version of such a script is alrady available? Would correcting the timestamps in this way cause any problems for dovecot (e.g in the index files)? Thanks in advance for any help. drbob NB In my googling for a solution to this problem I found this hack to imapsync which would rewrite the "internaldate" based on the date header during a sync.
