Does anyone know how to read a mail header and body in a plugin, i.e. what API call(s) to use for the read? /L

[Dovecot] v1.1.beta2 - maildir quota calculation problem
by Andrew Pavlenko 01 Oct '07

01 Oct '07

I have a problem with the maildir quota plugin. Any imap operations cause the plugin to recalculate the mailbox size and put the new value in the second line of the maildirsize file, while the third line always contains the size of the latest operation. So the resulting sum is incorrect. Moreover, quota-warning is not working either. Have anybody else met such problem? mail# ./dovecot -n # 1.1.beta2: /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf ... mail_plugins(default): quota mail_log mail_plugins(imap): quota mail_log mail_plugins(pop3): quota mail_plugin_dir(default): /usr/local/lib/dovecot/imap mail_plugin_dir(imap): /usr/local/lib/dovecot/imap mail_plugin_dir(pop3): /usr/local/lib/dovecot/pop3 ... plugin: quota: maildir quota_rule: *:storage=10240 quota_warning: storage=75%% /usr/local/etc/quota-warning.sh 75

[Dovecot] Mixed Courier POP3 and Dovecot IMAP environment
by Jan van den Berg 01 Oct '07

01 Oct '07

Hi, Currently we support Courier POP and IMAP for all our users (users can use IMAP as well as POP at the same time). We are thinking about moving to Dovecot; but first moving away from Courier IMAP to Dovecot IMAP (and maybe later also move to Dovecot POP). This would create a mixed environment; after some research I have the following questions. To not break POP3 Courier and still be able to use Dovecot IMAP: - I have to use the namespace prefix in the dovecot.conf file: I read this in the wiki. - "Patch" the source so Dovecot IMAP will look for/use 'courierimapuiddb' instead of 'dovecot-uidlist': otherwise I guess POP3 and IMAP users will have different UID files, right? Is this smart or will this still break the UID file? - "Patch" the source so Dovecot IMAP will look for/use 'courierimapsubscribed' instead of 'subscriptions' of should I just go with the renaming of the files? I'm thinking about patching so the transition can be as transparent as possible: Also if anything might go wrong in production I want to be able to switch back to the 'old' Courier IMAP (without renaming files etc.) Any thoughts on this? Cheers, Jan

[Dovecot] Released v1.1.beta2
by Timo Sirainen 01 Oct '07

01 Oct '07

http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/beta/dovecot-1.1.beta2.tar.gz http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/beta/dovecot-1.1.beta2.tar.gz.sig Several bug/crashfixes. deliver now supports -a parameter (see http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA) which allows Sieve plugin v1.1.2 to use envelope :detail "to" checks. I also did one more API change for mailbox_transaction_commit*(). There's probably something still wrong with SORT command, but other than that I've fixed everything that's been reported.

[Dovecot] Maildir ignore
by Tomas Horacek 01 Oct '07

01 Oct '07

Hello there. I do like Dovecot so far, but ran into problem I cant seem to solve, maybe someone can point me into right direction please. I am running version 1.0.rc15 on CentOS 5 Linux i386 system, ext3 fs. The problem is I cant get the maildir: and :ignore to work together. Here is my SQL query, that includes the Quota field. # cat /etc/dovecot-sql.conf | grep -i quota user_query = SELECT maildir AS home, 901 AS uid, 901 AS gid, CONCAT('maildir:storage=', floor(IF(quota!=0, quota,-1)/1000), ':ignore=Trash') AS quota FROM mailbox WHERE username = '%u' AND active = '1' Even Dovecot agrees it seems correct. # cat /var/log/maillog | grep kaktus | grep quota\= | tail -n1 Sep 30 23:37:33 XXXXXX dovecot: auth(default): master out: USER 5 XXX(a)XXX.cz home=XXX uid=901 gid=901 quota=maildir:storage=1024:ignore=Trash I hope this is the correct way. Looking at IMAP communication with Wireshark, the server seems to ignore my settings. 118 uid copy 22 Trash\r\n 118 NO Quota exceeded\r\n Anyone can help me, please ? [Dovecot] dovecot-dspam plugin & virtual users
by Wicher Minnaard 30 Sep '07

30 Sep '07

Hi list, hi Johannes, I'm trying to use the dovecot-dspam plugin ( http://johannes.sipsolutions.net/Projects/dovecot-dspam-integration ) with vpopmail's virtual users. All seems well, except for the fact that dspam should be called with '--user currentuser(a)currentdomain.com' at line 157 here: http://johannes.sipsolutions.net/Projects/dovecot-dspam-integration/beta7-c… For my needs, 'currentuser@currentdomain' could be taken as the login name I use for logging in to Dovecot. As I'm not a C-programmer by a long shot, I was wondering if one of you could help me use the bincimap-API to import the login name into a variable so I can use that variable to construct a suitable dspam-command. Hope this is possible! Regards, Wicher Minnaard

[Dovecot] dovecot dspam plugin using libdspam
by Andreas Schneider 30 Sep '07

30 Sep '07

Hi, I've found the dovecot dspam plugin and looked at the code. I forks and calls the dspam binary for every mail. I didn't like this behavior, so I've migrated it to use libdspam. The plugin still needs more love: * Use cmake instead of a Makefile * Make the spam folder configurable in the dovecot.conf * Code cleanup and more comments. Please test. Comments and patches are welcome ;) http://www.cynapses.org/tmp/dovecot-dspam-plugin-0.1.tar.gz Cheers, -- andreas -- http://www.cynapses.org/ - cybernetic synapses

[Dovecot] Problem with manually moving maildir files between folders
by Bill Landry 30 Sep '07

dovecot --version 1.1.beta1 With previous versions of Dovecot I could manually move maildir files between folders and the index would automatically update when entering the folder with Thunderbird. However, with 1.1.beta1, I am seeing the following when entering the folder, when attempting to rebuild the indexes via Thunderbird, or when attempting to force the download of all messages in the folder (this is with mail_debug = yes): Sep 30 09:05:55 mail dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<bill(a)inetmsg.com>, method=PLAIN, rip=192.168.1.100, lip=192.168.1.37, TLS Sep 30 09:05:55 mail dovecot: IMAP(bill(a)inetmsg.com): Effective uid=1000, gid=1000, home=/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/ Sep 30 09:05:55 mail dovecot: IMAP(bill(a)inetmsg.com): maildir: data=/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/bill Sep 30 09:05:55 mail dovecot: IMAP(bill(a)inetmsg.com): maildir++: root=/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/bill, index=, control=, inbox=/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/bill Sep 30 09:05:58 mail dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<bill(a)inetmsg.com>, method=PLAIN, rip=192.168.1.100, lip=192.168.1.37, TLS Sep 30 09:05:58 mail dovecot: IMAP(bill(a)inetmsg.com): Effective uid=1000, gid=1000, home=/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/ Sep 30 09:05:58 mail dovecot: IMAP(bill(a)inetmsg.com): maildir: data=/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/bill Sep 30 09:05:58 mail dovecot: IMAP(bill(a)inetmsg.com): maildir++: root=/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/bill, index=, control=, inbox=/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/bill Sep 30 09:05:58 mail dovecot: IMAP(bill(a)inetmsg.com): open(/var/spool/vmail/inetmsg.com/bill/.SURBL/cur/1190901367.M206487P27879V… failed: Permission denied Sep 30 09:05:58 mail dovecot: IMAP(bill(a)inetmsg.com): Disconnected: Internal error occurred.
