Hi ! I am still a bit annoyed with the way that Sieve plugin handles multiple delivery into the same folder. For reference : http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2007-January/019029.html Summary : When a same message (same message-id) is to be delivered twice into the same mailbox, it is delivered twice while I think that the second one should be discarded. Here are a few test cases : - you subscribe to a few mailing lists on topic "X" and deliver all mails from those mailing lists in the same folder. You get twice the mails that are crossposted. - you subscribe to one mailing list and read it regulary so you don't care of receiving messages from this mailing list (you are in Cc when someone answers) in your INBOX. You match on To or Cc to put everything in the same folder. You get messages twice when you are put personally in Cc. - you place a forward from one account to two of your accounts (one is keeping backup, the other don't but delivers faster). You receive all messages twice. With procmail, I handle those (real) cases with formail. I can't with Sieve. I don't see any interest in receiving the same message twice into the same mailbox. Is it possible to maintain a list of recent message-id and mailbox couples to avoid to deliver again a message to the same mailbox ? -- Terminate input by end-of-file or marker, not by count. - The Elements of Programming Style (Kernighan & Plauger)

[Dovecot] mbox sync/lock issue, rc28 and later

Help! I just noticed this error this morning, we have been getting a lot of these in rc28 and rc29, not in rc27 or before: Apr 6 07:22:52 karst dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error] IMAP(jaearick): mbox file /var/mail/j/jaearick was modified while we were syncing, check your locking settings Pine coughed up an internal error, no core dump, and dovecot basically doubled the size of my mailbox by duplicating all of my messages again. What changed with file locking between rc27 and rc28 to cause this? How to fix? My setup: dovecot server is Solaris 10, with ZFS for home directories (where index files go). The mail server is also Solaris 10, /var/mail NFS mounted to the dovecot server (NFSv4, yes lockd is running). The /var/mail filesystem on the mail server is also ZFS. [Dovecot] [ rc28 ] dict{} seems to be ignored

Hi all, I'm new to the list, so ... hello everybody :-) Let's go to the point... I'm implementing quota over imap support in my mail server, so since a number of days I'm tring to upgrade to the new 1.x version (debian sarge) ... After having a number of troubles using the debian backport packege I am now using the -rc28 package that I have built by myself... I installed libmysqlclient14 and compiled dovecot with the following configure options: ./configure --with-ssl=openssl \ --with-mysql \ --disable-ipv6 \ --with-cyrus-sasl2 \ --with-gssapi \ --with-deliver \ --host=$(DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE) \ --build=$(DEB_BUILD_GNU_TYPE) \ --prefix=/usr \ --sysconfdir=/etc/dovecot \ --libexecdir=\$${prefix}/lib \ --localstatedir=/var \ --mandir=\$${prefix}/share/man \ --infodir=\$${prefix}/share/info \ --with-moduledir=\$${prefix}/lib/dovecot/modules as taken from the sarge-backports debian package and after having removed pgsql, ldap and ipv6 support, as I don't need them... The imap over quota seem to work perfectly, since I can see quota info in IMAP clients (and via telnet) the only thing I can't make work is the dict: storage for quota info!! It seems the dict{ .. } section in the dovecot.conf file is *totally* ignored: dict { quotadict = mysq:/etc/dovecot/dovecot-dict-quota.conf } As you can see I have a typo in the driver name, but no error nor error message is given ... I followed the wiki instruction about Quota/Dict and I have created the necessary table ... that is not filled of course .. Anybody can tell me if may be a compilation problem, a configuration one or a bug in the current dovecot release ?? [Dovecot] Mailbox isn't a valid mbox file

Keep getting this error within Squirrelmail (and other clients) on one particular user's mailbox file: ERROR: Could not complete request. Query: SELECT "INBOX.Backup" Reason Given: Mailbox isn't a valid mbox file I've snipped the first and last message off of it, still no love. mailserver# cat FILE | od -c | less 0000000 F r o m p r o m o t i o n s @ 0000020 e m e s s a g e . c i s c o . c So apparently there isn't a control character in the first message that'd be causing this either. [Dovecot] Problems using GFS2 and clustered dovecot

I am trying to use dovecot. I've got a GFS2 shared volume on two servers with dovecot running on both. On one server at a time, it works. The test I am trying is to attach two mail programs (MUA) via IMAPS (Thunderbird and Evolution as it happens). I've attached one mail program to each IMAPS server. I am trying to move emails around in one program (from folder to folder), and then checking it on the other program. I'm testing in effect how it would work if my users log on twice and end up on different servers. [Dovecot] managesieve proxy

We have dovecot on a pop/imap server working as a proxy to dovecot on the backend storage servers. This is working fine, but the difficulty is that if I use, for example, avelsieve in squirrelmail, it doesn't know where to connect. I imagine the same problem would exist with sieve-capable mail clients such as KMail, especially since the outside world isn't allowed to connect directly to the storage servers. Hello, I have successfully configure dovecot to lookup my existing user database to lookup the homedir. Can I configure dovecot not to do it? I have 10000 messages in /mnt/mailmountpoint/4/22/3/joewong99:tkodog.no-ip.com@tkodog_no-ip_com/Maildir but SELECT INBOX show no messages. Regards, - Joe

[Dovecot] GSS/Kerb5, Solaris 10, how to build?

Gang, I've been trying to build rc29 under Solaris 10 using either "--with-gssapi" or Kerberos 5 ticket usage. I'm trying to figure out how to set up fetchmail on another S10 box to do IMAP fetches from dovecot without having to enter a password. No matter what configure option I try, I get Building with GSSAPI support ........ : no at the end of the configure. I searched the list archives and I see some discussion from Dan Price about Solaris 11 builds. Is gssapi supposed to work with Solaris 10? Advice please? My dovecot server is a Kerberos 5 client of Active Directory, with PAM configured to do TGT exchanges. I can login to the system with my AD password, ssh to other Kerb clients without having to type in passwords -- Kerberos works at the OS level. Jeff Earickson Colby College
