[Dovecot] Dovecot not responding

Hi all, I'm pulling my hair out on this problem and wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone else had run across it. I recently restarted my server. There were some network config issues that caused the interfaces not to come back up, but my colo company got those resolved. However, after restart, my IMAPS server has stopped responding to outside requests. I can successfully access IMAP from localhost, as well as via SSH tunnelling, so I know it is working. I've tried all sorts of "listen=" configurations, and checked lsof & tcpdump to rule out other problems, but it just seems as though dovecot isn't responding. What's the obvious thing I'm missing here? My host has some weird VLAN thing installed by the colo company so I have IP aliases, but given I'm not even seeing a response to the SYN, it doesn't seem to be a routing issue, and I can connect to my local interface on port 993 (NOT localhost) without problems. Suggestions much appreciated, I'm stuck. I'm sure this is something obvious and simple, but I'm looking past it right now. Greetings all, We are looking for a developer to write a plugin that copies the message to a specific hidden folder called "spam_copy" when a message inside a folder called "spam" is viewed for the first time. And when we move the message from the "spam" folder to any other folder, and if the message hasn't been seen, we should send a copy of it to "spam_copy" hidden folder, in addition to the move. [Dovecot] incorrect quota reporting with dict quota

Using the dict quota with dovecot-1.0.rc21, quota reporting was incorrect. It wasn't just that the stored quota was different than the disk usage, but also that each time the quota was checked, it was greater than before, even if no mail was received. I tested this by using telnet to log into an imap account, and issuing multiple "getquotaroot inbox" commands. I have changed to just using maildir quotas, and everything seems correct now. [Dovecot] environment variables required for startup

Using dovecot-1.0-rc19 (quotas are working good, btw) on Gentoo, I have a strange problem. On boot, dovecot doesn't start, the init script just times out. From the command line, it starts instantly without problem. Also, using a program called 'monit' to make sure processes stay running and restart them if they stop, if I manually stop dovecot, it is then unable to start it (calling the init script). Nothing gets logged. In all cases, it's "/etc/init.d/dovecot start". The only thing I can think of is that there's some environment variable required which isn't being set. monit specifically says it unsets everything except for a basic path before running the start program. In prepping our IMAP migration to Dovecot, I've hit upon a small issue: the "IMAP server directory" which Thunderbird users have set in the "advanced" prefs. Our old IMAP server seems to set your current directory to ~. This wound up causing users to set their IMAP server directory to "/home/<user>/mail/" so that their mailboxes would be found: --> A104 LIST "/home/dp/mail/" "%" * LIST (\NoSelect) "/" /home/dp/mail/ * LIST (\NoInferiors \UnMarked) "/" /home/dp/mail/sent-mail-Jul-2006 * LIST (\NoInferiors \UnMarked) "/" /home/dp/mail/sent-mail-Dec-2004 ... A104 OK LIST completed Of course, relative paths also work, but it seems that not many users are using them: --> A105 LIST "mail/" "%" * LIST (\NoSelect) "/" mail/ * LIST (\NoInferiors \UnMarked) "/" mail/sent-mail-Jul-2006 * LIST (\NoInferiors \UnMarked) "/" mail/sent-mail-Dec-2004 ... A105 OK LIST completed Also, it turns out that some users have mail in "mail" and some in "Mail". So for now, with Dovecot, I've set: mail_location = mbox:~:INBOX=/var/mail/%u:INDEX=%h/Mail/imapd-indices But users with absolute paths are having issues: A102 LIST "/home/dp/mail/" "%" A102 OK List completed. Hi! I want to know the number of messages deleted when the mail user connect by IMAP protocol. When the user uses POP, we got this directive in the configuration file: pop3_logout_format = top=%t/%p, retr=%r/%b, del=%d/%m, size=%s This is the log: dovecot: Feb 09 02:31:02 Info: pop3-login: Login: user=<xxxxxx>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, secured dovecot: Feb 09 02:31:02 Info: POP3(xxxxx): Disconnected: Logged out top=2/3756, retr=0/0, del=0/7, size=17392 If you look at "del=0/7" we know that user deleted 0 messages. Something like "imap_logout_format" ?? Dovecot version: 1.0.rc17.

[Dovecot] Rawlogs in freebsd?

I am trying to enable rawlogs. I made a directory /home/dovecot/dovecot.rawlog/, changed dovecot.conf to have mail_executable = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/rawlog /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap Made sure the /home/dovecot/dovecot.rawlog/ could be written to. Even made it 1777 as a test. Made sure the FreeBSD user database points /home/dovecot as the dovecot user's directory (left shell as nologin). Compiled dovecot from ports and using Dovecot 1.0.r21. Still no rawlog. Any pointers?
