When attempting to save a message from the INBOX to a folder in a collection (like, .projects.dovecot), I get behavior like this (in GDB). Any clue what might be going wrong? [Dovecot] assertion failed -0.99 -> 1.0-stable

Hello Timo, I've upgraded from dovecot-0.99 to dovecot-1.0-stable (the 2005-05-09 version) on FreeBSD 5.4 and encountered the following problems (problem #4 (assertion failed) made me downgrade back to dovecot-0.99...) : 1. mbox sync: UID inserted in the middle of mailbox /var/mail/gopauld (5230 > 4407) --> OK, that's documented on the Wiki, not a real problem 2. imap(cxxx): mkdir_parents(/opt/dovecot/c/cxxx/.imap/INBOX) failed: Permission denied --> I can't understand why since /opt/dovecot/c is rwxrwxrwt and belongs to root:wheel 3. dovecot: IMAP(xxxx): UIDs broken with partial sync in mbox file /yyyy/zzzz/xxxx/Mail/Drafts 4. dovecot: IMAP(xxxx): file istream-raw-mbox.c: line 383 (istream_raw_mbox_get_body_size): assertion failed: +(rstream->body_offset != (uoff_t)-1) --> That one occured each time a user connected with Eudora (on OS-X) moved messages from INBOX to some of her IMAP mailboxes. Since it was in real life, I hadn't time to get a gdb backtrace. Notes : . that user had restarted her client (Eudora). . my messages moves from one IMAP mbox to another did work. . the assertion failed occured with the version of 2005-06-04 as well (which I tried since the ChangLog mentionned some similar problems). Is the CONTROLDIR directive only available (undocumented as it may be) in the 1.0 series? I'm currently using 0.99.13 and I didn't find CONTROLDIR with grep. Thanks alan

[Dovecot] Error on pop3

[Dovecot] mail directory in user home?

Hey: When I run dovecot and retrieve any mail for a user, a mail directory is created in the users home. It has a subdirectory Inbox. No mail goes there however, it all goes to /var/spool/username. [Dovecot] Problem with configure.in in dovecot-stable CVS

I am having trouble with using dovecot-stable from CVS. I get the following error when running autogen.sh: configure.in: 4: required file `./[config.h].in' not found I see the config.h.in file in the root dir, but I cannot figure out what the brackets are for. If I modify the file and remove the brackets, it works properly and I can compile dovecot. What are the brackets in the name for? Am I breaking something by removing them? Hello, I tried the v1.0 test of dovecot, because it should make the directories for me. I configured it and installed it. The old one is still there, but I shut it down to test the other version. When I start the new v1.0 test of dovecot i get the following message in my log: Jun 6 13:33:08 APOLLO dovecot: Dovecot v1.0-test72 starting up Jun 6 13:33:09 APOLLO dovecot: Auth process died too early - shutting down Jun 6 13:33:09 APOLLO dovecot: auth(default): dovecot-auth: Fatal: USERDB environment is unset Jun 6 13:33:09 APOLLO dovecot: child 18610 (auth) returned error 89 What does that mean?
