Thanks for answer, The config I have is very small (for now) All of my user have an account on the machine. Very soon I plan to switch to LDAP. For my needs, a PowerUser for all domains is enough. Not yet. But I guess I should one day add support for it. Most SASL mechanisms support it directly without a kludgy username. I'm not sure about the configuration though. For passwd-file I guess there could be just one global flag which means that the user has access to everyone's mails. For LDAP and SQL I guess the pass_filter/password_query could have a few new %vars to describe the other user. Or maybe there needs to be a separate filter/query for that case. Hmm. Do you want the poweruser to have access to all mailboxes, or just for the one domain? What passdb are you using?

[Dovecot] Detecting unused accounts

I'm looking for a way to figure out which accounts have not been logged in to in over n days. It occurs to me that, perhaps, the way to do this would be to look at the mtime on one of the dovecot-maintained files, like 'dovecot-uidlist'. Hi all, I am very new to dovecot and I would like to know if there is a way to configure a user with all the read/write right on all mailbox. I would like to have a power user (PowerUser) able to reach USER1 mailbox using the following login PowerUser@domain/USER1@domain and the password will be the PowerUser password. [Dovecot] Enable outlook-idle workaround.

I just recently discovered dovecot. I am evaluating the program and several clients uses Outlook/Outlook Express. In the clients issues section of dovecot.org is says "You should enable outlook-idle workaround" Ok, maybe I am missing something very obvious here but I can not find any documentation on how to implement the outlook-idle workaround. Can anyone point me to an article or something with more details on this issue? Thanks in advance.

http://dovecot.org/test/ Been a while since last release. Still seems there are some mbox problems, but I haven't been able to break anything for last few days. I guess it's stable enough. At least more stable than test46 which crashed quite often when expunging. - pretty much rewrote "index extension" support. it's now possible to add extensions to headers and to message records. it's possible to resize them. I'll probably use it soon to change mbox code to use 32bit offsets and automatically grow to 64bit offsets once mbox grows over 4GB (well, yes, rare, but.. :) - login_greeting and login_greeting_capability settings - auth_verbose is even more verbose - mbox fixes/optimizations - other fixes/additions

[Dovecot] Error in IMAP command UID

I get this error with some messages in my inbox: The current command did not succeed. The mailserver responded: Error in IMAP command UID: Invalid BODY[..] parameter: Missing '>' in <102400.-100124> The <102400.-100124> at the end depends on the message. Client is Mozilla Thunderbird 0.8 using imaps. Server is Dovecot 1.0-test47. Is this a bug or did I configure something wrong? Jan Kuipers Systemadministrator Lauwers College

After running ./configure --with-ldap --with-ssl=openssl --with-pgsql --with-mysql --without-cyrus-sasl2 --sysconfdir=/etc (Settings taken from the debian/rules of debian package version 0.99.11-3) of the cvs HEAD or test46 I get the following error during make: db-mysql.o(.text+0x116): In function `db_mysql_query': /tmp/dovecot-1.0-test46/src/auth/db-mysql.c:82: undefined reference to `mysql_conn_open' The following trivial change seems to let the build finish: RCS file: /home/cvs/dovecot/src/auth/db-mysql.c,v retrieving revision 1.11 diff -r1.11 db-mysql.c 82c82 < if (!mysql_conn_open(conn)) --- > if (!db_mysql_connect(conn)) This little error snuck in between -r1.10 and -r1.11 of src/auth/db-mysql.c . [Dovecot] dovecot and (no) new incomming mail - migration from wu-imapd

Hi, I recently installed dovecot 0.99 on a fedora core 1 Server which used the wu-imap-server. dovecot starts and I can subscribe to my old imapfolders, but if I send mails to my account, this new mail arent downloaded. If I quit Mozilla and restart Mozilla, the recently send mails are in my inbox. We use also a webmailsystem, so I could verify that the mails are in the inbox without relogging in. This phenome is not showing up by all my imap accounts. I'm testing with mozilla 1.7.3 and 1.8a4 on a mac os x 10.3.5 Client. The Inbox-folder for the "defect" account is showing in italic and grey ghosted (in the folder list), the folder in the working account is normal. A user using Netscape 7.1 on a Windows XP Client has also no Problems.... Hello, am I right, that dovecot can't cope with ldap so authentification is handled by ldap itself? And, for that I have to use {CRYPT} and cannot use other mechanisms as {SMD5} Are there any other possibilities? A --

Hello, this patch reworks old-style SASL discovery code. With this patch applied it advertises all configured SASL mechanisms. It makes possible for MS Outlook to use all installed security service providers (SSP), so if someone crazy enough will write CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 SSP we'll support it readily :) Please consider applying.
