rspamd / imapsieve script is not executed/called
by Michael Ludwig 30 Nov '18

30 Nov '18

Hi to all of you, as I am struggling around with this a week or so I'm afraid I have to ask for help here. The problem is sitting right in front of the computer, as most of the time. ;-) So let me explain: Dovecot is working properly for IMAP with LE certificates, so I thought it's time to continue with Christoph Haas tutorial primarily and other blogs and tutorials for setting up the server. Next part would be to get rspamd learning what mails the user puts into junk folder. I followed the tutorial, but it will not work. Also I tried to get into debug mode, but I feel that dovecot is not really logging too much. Server is freshly set up Ubuntu 18.04.1, latest patchlevel with packages mostly from Ubuntu sources, except rspamd, but this was added as ppa if my remembering is correct. This is what I get on syslog, whilst *.* is being put at /var/log/allmessages. ######################################### Nov 25 23:30:50 myserver dovecot: imap(info(a)mydomain.tld): Debug: INBOX/Junk: Mailbox opened because: UID move Nov 25 23:30:50 myserver dovecot: imap(info(a)mydomain.tld): Debug: imapsieve: mailbox INBOX/Junk: MOVE event Nov 25 23:30:50 myserver dovecot: imap(info(a)mydomain.tld): Debug: sieve: Pigeonhole version 0.4.21 (92477967) initializing Nov 25 23:30:50 myserver dovecot: imap(info(a)mydomain.tld): Debug: sieve: Sieve imapsieve plugin for Pigeonhole version 0.4.21 (92477967) loaded Nov 25 23:30:50 myserver dovecot: imap(info(a)mydomain.tld): Debug: sieve: Sieve Extprograms plugin for Pigeonhole version 0.4.21 (92477967) loaded Nov 25 23:30:50 myserver dovecot: imap(info(a)mydomain.tld): Debug: imapsieve: Static mailbox rule [1]: mailbox=`Junk' from=`*' causes=(COPY) => before=`file:/etc/dovecot/sieve/report-spam.sieve' after=(none) Nov 25 23:30:50 myserver dovecot: imap(info(a)mydomain.tld): Debug: imapsieve: Static mailbox rule [2]: mailbox=`*' from=`Junk' causes=(COPY) => before=`file:/etc/dovecot/sieve/report-ham.sieve' after=(none) ######################################### So as far as I can interpret there is absolutely no script called when I move a mail from inbox to junk folder in Thunderbird. Here is the output of dovecot -n but I don't exactly if this is enough, so please give me an info if you need more output. ######################################### # 2.2.33.2 (d6601f4ec): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # Pigeonhole version 0.4.21 (92477967) # OS: Linux 4.15.0-39-generic x86_64 Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS ext4 auth_mechanisms = plain login lmtp_rcpt_check_quota = yes lmtp_save_to_detail_mailbox = yes mail_debug = yes mail_location = maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%n/Maildir mail_plugins = " quota" mail_privileged_group = mail managesieve_notify_capability = mailto managesieve_sieve_capability = fileinto reject envelope encoded-character vacation subaddress comparator-i;ascii-numeric relational regex imap4flags copy include variables body enotify environment mailbox date index ihave duplicate mime foreverypart extracttext imapsieve vnd.dovecot.imapsieve namespace inbox { inbox = yes list = yes location = mailbox Drafts { auto = subscribe special_use = \Drafts } mailbox Junk { auto = subscribe autoexpunge = 90 days special_use = \Junk } mailbox Sent { auto = subscribe special_use = \Sent } mailbox "Sent Messages" { special_use = \Sent } mailbox Trash { auto = subscribe autoexpunge = 30 days special_use = \Trash } prefix = INBOX/ separator = / subscriptions = yes type = private } passdb { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf.ext driver = sql } plugin { imapsieve_mailbox1_before = file:/etc/dovecot/sieve/report-spam.sieve imapsieve_mailbox1_causes = COPY imapsieve_mailbox1_name = Junk imapsieve_mailbox2_before = file:/etc/dovecot/sieve/report-ham.sieve imapsieve_mailbox2_causes = COPY imapsieve_mailbox2_from = Junk imapsieve_mailbox2_name = * quota_grace = 20%% quota_status_nouser = DUNNO quota_status_overquota = 552 5.2.2 Mailbox is over quota quota_status_success = DUNNO recipient_delimiter = + sieve = file:~/sieve;active=~/.dovecot.sieve sieve_after = /etc/dovecot/sieve-after/ sieve_global = /etc/dovecot/sieve sieve_global_extensions = +vnd.dovecot.pipe sieve_pipe_bin_dir = /etc/dovecot/sieve sieve_pipe_socket_dir = sieve-pipe sieve_plugins = sieve_imapsieve sieve_extprograms sieve_trace_debug = yes } protocols = " imap lmtp sieve pop3" service auth { unix_listener /var/spool/postfix/private/auth { group = postfix mode = 0660 user = postfix } } service imap-login { inet_listener imaps { port = 993 ssl = yes } } service lmtp { unix_listener /var/spool/postfix/private/dovecot-lmtp { group = postfix mode = 0600 user = postfix } } service pop3-login { inet_listener pop3s { port = 995 ssl = yes } } service quota-status { client_limit = 1 executable = quota-status -p postfix inet_listener { port = 22466 } } ssl_cert = </etc/letsencrypt/live/myserver.mydomain.tld/fullchain.pem ssl_client_ca_dir = /etc/ssl/certs ssl_key = # hidden, use -P to show it userdb { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf.ext driver = sql } userdb { args = uid=vmail gid=vmail home=/var/vmail/%d/%n driver = static } protocol lmtp { mail_plugins = " quota quota sieve" postmaster_address = postmaster(a)mydomain.tld } protocol imap { mail_plugins = " quota imap_sieve imap_quota" } ######################################### Would be really great if somebody knows what the he** I am doing wrong. Best way of merging mbox files
by Marc Roos 29 Nov '18

29 Nov '18

When concatenating mbox files like described here https://xaizek.github.io/2013-03-30/merge-mbox-mailboxes/. You will end up with an 'unsorted' mbox file. Is this going to be a problem esspecially when they are large >2GB's and new emails will be written to it? The email client nicely sorts the message from folder A "foldera 5 last" as last, but of course the mbox is not like this. Is there a better solution for merging files? Having: A folder A with messages: From Subject Received Size test foldera 1 16:18 665 B test foldera 2 16:18 665 B test foldera 3 16:18 665 B test foldera 4 16:18 665 B test foldera 5 last 16:29 670 B A folder B with messages: From Subject Received Size test folderb 1 16:23 665 B test folderb 2 16:24 665 B test folderb 3 16:24 665 B test folderb 4 16:24 665 B test folderb 5 16:24 665 B [@ mail] cat .foldera .folderb > .folderc Getting a folder C with messages: From Subject Received Size test foldera 1 16:18 665 B test foldera 2 16:18 665 B test foldera 3 16:18 665 B test foldera 4 16:18 665 B Mail System Internal Data DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE -- FOLDER INTERNAL DATA 16:19 454 B test folderb 1 16:23 665 B test folderb 2 16:24 665 B test folderb 3 16:24 665 B test folderb 4 16:24 665 B test folderb 5 16:24 665 B test foldera 5 last 16:29 670 B

"merging" folders Sent-Items Sent-Messages Sent
by Marc Roos 29 Nov '18

29 Nov '18

I have a running server and would like to clean up a bit, and merge sent folders and trash folders etc. Is this best done via the mailbox alias plugin like mentioned here? Or is there a better way? I prefer to have one folder listed at the client, and not "Unfortunately it also means that some clients will download the same mails to local cache multiple times." https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/MailboxAlias dovecot-2.2.10-8.el7.x86_64 CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804 (Core)

Solr: URI Too Long
by azurit＠pobox.sk 29 Nov '18

29 Nov '18

Hi, i'm quite often getting this error: Error: fts_solr: Lookup failed: 414 URI Too Long Most web servers are limiting URI length to 8192 characters. Why not to use POST instead of GET when communicating with Solr? Solr is able to handle this ok, also see: https://dzone.com/articles/solr-select-query-get-vs-post azur

determine why mail clients download mails 2nd time

I have strange problem. In last Friday I had a problem with dovecot. It didn't see directories with mailboxes in /var/vmail. Somehow it crashed because probably two things (a lot of this type of lines in mail.err file): *Nov 23 07:05:02 s1 dovecot: lda(poli(a)poli.li <poli(a)poli.li>): Error: User initialization failed: Initializing mail storage from mail_location setting failed: mkdir(/var/vmail/poli.li/poli/Maildir <http://poli.li/poli/Maildir>) failed: Permission denied (euid=5000(vmail) egid=5000(vmail) missing +w perm: /var/vmail, dir owned by 0:0 mode=0755)* and maybe *Nov 12 09:27:59 s1 dovecot: imap(artur(a)firmastanaszek.pl <artur(a)firmastanaszek.pl>): Error: Corrupted index cache file /var/vmail/firmastanaszek.pl/artur/Maildir/dovecot.index.cache <http://firmastanaszek.pl/artur/Maildir/dovecot.index.cache>: Broken MIME parts for mail UID 559 in mailbox INBOX: Cached MIME parts don't match message during parsing: Cached header size mismatch (parts=)Nov 12 09:27:59 s1 dovecot: imap(artur(a)firmastanaszek.pl <artur(a)firmastanaszek.pl>): Error: unlink(/var/vmail/firmastanaszek.pl/artur/Maildir/dovecot.index.cache <http://firmastanaszek.pl/artur/Maildir/dovecot.index.cache>) failed: No such file or directory (in mail-cache.c:28)* and after this event probably all mailboxes download again all emails from 1.11 to 22.11. They were duplicated in mail clients. -- *Pozdrawiam / Best Regards* *Piotr Bracha*

Hello, This is dovecot 2.3.4 (0ecbaf23d) If you set "mail_debug = yes" in 10.logging.conf, there's a bug in logging, which breaks log parsers : > 2018-11-29 00Debug: :41:57 lda(xavier): Effective uid=501, gid=20, home=/home/xavier ^^^^ Regards, Xavier -- Xavier Humbert - sysadmin & network engineer

Dovecot Version: 2.3.2.1 Hello Mailing List, We are having a random issue in a couple of our production servers, where one of the child processes randomly dies with an out of memory error (see below): Nov 26 11:58:17 config: Fatal: pool_system_malloc(8192): Out of memory Nov 26 11:58:17 pop3-login: Fatal: Error reading configuration: read(/var/run/dovecot/config) failed: EOF Nov 26 11:58:17 config: Fatal: master: service(config): child 29696 returned error 83 (Out of memory (service config { vsz_limit=2048 MB }, you may need to increase it) - set CORE_OUTOFMEM=1 environment to get core dump) We only use dovecot for internal application POP3 mail access from a mailbox, and there is under 10 connecting applications. Have have gradually increased the vsz_limit from the default of 256mb up to 2GB now. Is there anything else that should/could be changed instead of continuing to through memory at it? # dovecot -n # 2.3.2.1 (0719df592): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 3.10.0-862.11.6.el7.x86_64 x86_64 CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804 (Core) # Hostname: <Internal host name here, removed> doveconf: Warning: please set ssl_dh=</etc/dovecot/dh.pem doveconf: Warning: You can generate it with: dd if=/var/lib/dovecot/ssl-parameters.dat bs=1 skip=88 | openssl dhparam -inform der > /etc/dovecot/dh.pem auth_cache_size = 10 M auth_verbose = yes base_dir = /var/run/dovecot/ default_vsz_limit = 2 G instance_name = EMX Pop Mailstore listen = <Internal ethernet Name Here, removed> log_path = /var/log/dovecot-echo.log login_greeting = Pop3 MailServer Ready. login_trusted_networks = <IP Addresses Here, removed> mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir namespace inbox { inbox = yes location = mailbox Drafts { special_use = \Drafts } mailbox Junk { special_use = \Junk } mailbox Sent { special_use = \Sent } mailbox "Sent Messages" { special_use = \Sent } mailbox Trash { special_use = \Trash } prefix = } passdb { args = cache_key=%u driver = pam } protocols = pop3 ssl_cert = </etc/pki/dovecot/certs/dovecot.pem ssl_dh = # hidden, use -P to show it ssl_key = # hidden, use -P to show it userdb { driver = passwd } verbose_ssl = yes Thanks, Kevin

Hello list. I am running dovecot v2.2.13 on debian 8.8; I tried to add a "address =" statement for only localhost and one private IP, but then I got a complaint from system: dovecot[20515]: Error: systemd listens on port 143, but it's not configured in Dovecot. Closing. What is the proper way to resolve this? TIA & Regards, Dudi
