[Dovecot] sieve /editheader / addheader :last crash

Hi Everybody, I'm using dovecot 2.1.14 from http://xi.rename-it.nl/debian/ with debian squeeze stable. In general, sieve works fine for me, but "addheader :last ..." from the editheader extension causes a crash when it processes a message. I was able to narrow this down a bit: It only happens if "addheader :last" is the first editheader command executed in a script. If it is preceded by any "deleteheader" or "addheader" without ":last", everything is fine. FTS-searching through a virtual mailbox crashes dovecot-2.1.15 when the FTS backend does not support lookup_multi. src/plugins/fts/fts-api.h says for fts_backend_lookup() that "The arrays in result must be initialized by caller." FTS backends can therefore assume that the arrays are initialized by their caller. However, fts_backend_lookup_multi() does not initialize the per-box arrays before calling the FTS backend’s lookup function. [Dovecot] Public free (libre) mailbox hosting service for everybody!

Hello e-mail software developers and users! I'd like to ask all of you a question. And of course hear relevant opinion. I've been using free software happily for a few years, and I found free/open source alternatives for many popular proprietary tools such as Facebook, Dropbox, Micro$oft Windows & Office, Youtube, Skype and many many others. Some of the alternatives are probably known to some of you, while others are still unknown to many. But I couldn't find a replacement to mailbox hosting. I'm using a Gmail mailbox and I hate it. So many free and open source mail servers and I still use Gmail, a closed-source service (which also probably tracks all my data, including Google searches I do, and uses it for all kinds of statistics and advertising, but that's another issue). So I asked myself, why is there no mailbox hosting service which respects user freedom? I sent an e-mail to the Free Software Foundation, and got a suggestion to ask all of you: do you know any free (libre) mail server out there? If you do, please inform me, and the whole free software community, developers and users. I couldn't find any. If nobody else finds any either, the plan is to start a new server. There are so many server tools and programs, like the ones you use and develop. It's just like hosting a Git repository or videos of pictures for the masses. We can do it with e-mail too. Q: Why don't I start my own personal server? A: I'm a programmer and I can do it - with some effort, but I can. The problem is not me. The problem is that all the non-programmer and non-technical users can't. And they shouldn't. We tech people can, and should, run such servers for everybody. For all users who want their basic freedoms respected. Another question to tech people: I'm not an expert in e-mail software, so I'm not really sure setting up a server is as easy as all other online services we get, such as Diaspora (facebook replacement), MediaGoblin (Youtube replacement), Gitorious (git repo hosting). Is there a technical issue preventing people from running a mail server, or it's just a matter of having enough money to run it, and the necessary technical skills (which many of you probably have). If it's possible, we'll do it. Also, if users had to pay for such a service, it would be okay. I don't mind paying for my free software stack. I'd actually find it a way to contribute back to the people and projects which deserve it. The point is not money; such a service can get funds. The point if FREEDOM. [Dovecot] Real-time sync using dsync

Hi, Can we use dsync to achieve *continuous* (real-time) sync between two servers (Mirror mode)? Running in such a "continuous" dsync mode, we would replicate two servers to one another continuously, so that the two would be concurrently available/accessible/useable (as POP3/IMAP servers), and getting synced in real time. Is this possible? (If yes, I think it would be much easier to setup such an architecture, rather that resorting to shared file systems, network-based storage etc.) Thanks, Nick

[Dovecot] IMAP folders sort order

Hi all We migrated our IMAP server from Courier to Dovecot. The minor problem appeared: Dovecot LIST command now shows mailbox listing in some weird order. (I suppose, it is filesystem directory order) Previously, with Courier, it was sorted, i.e., the INBOX was the first, followed by other system folders. This is not a problem with our webmail, because it sorts folders by its own. But with some IMAP clients, we have folders intermixed. Is there a way to influence the folder sort order in Dovecot? Hello, I'm trying to use dsync to copy mail from one server to a newer one, so I'm using imapc as source (when running dsync in the destination server). The command I'm using is like this: sudo dsync -vD -o imapc_user="<myuser>*master" -o imapc_password="<master pass>" -o imapc_host=<original server> -o imapc_features=rfc822.size -o mailbox_list_index=no backup -R -f -u "<myuser>" imapc: This command is working. The problem I have is that I'm using lazy_expunge in the original server, and namespace used in the original server has the config: namespace { hidden = yes list = no location = maildir:~/Maildir/expunged prefix = BORRADOS. separator = . } so, it is not being synchronized. I have tried to synchronized from the original server instead of destination with: sudo dsync -vD -o imapc_user="<myuser>*master" -o imapc_password="<master pass>" -o imapc_host=<dest server> -o imapc_features=rfc822.size -o mailbox_list_index=no -o mail_location=maildir:<myuserhome>/Maildir/expunged backup -f -u "amateo" imapc: with this, no message is copied and I have errors like: dsync(<myuser>): Error: Mailbox Archives.2003_kk changed its GUID (e7fc0b2d831e1c51984d000029c62294 -> 7d325fb944b953993df5d27ce2ee786c) Any idea to copy messages in this namespace without needing to make it plubic? [Dovecot] Logs when moving mails

Hi, I have a problem with an older mailserver. We have an account where 10 Users use one IMAP Account to manage their work. Sometimes some of the emails seem to disappear. I think they are moved somewhere but I can´t tell it for sure. Is there a way to make dovecot logging any movement of emails (I would prefer doing it only for one account). This account is not a local user. I am running selinux in permissive mode on my new mail server, in part because of dovecot. I would really like to use selinux, but I suspect it may be a challenge. My setup is on Centos 6.3 with dovecot using mysql for virutal domains and users. I am looking for a set of definitive selinux instructions, not a pointer to selinux tutorial. Especially the new dsync and the replication server related to that should really work now. It also works correctly now for shared mailboxes with private \Seen flags. And the replication server uses incremental syncing after the initial full sync, so it should be pretty efficient also. I've only two things left to do before v2.2.rc1: 1. Implement dsync to work via TCP and TCP+SSL sockets. This is pretty easy to do actually, since it can use the existing doveadm-server to start up. 2. Read up all the pending mails from Dovecot mailing list and fix up the reported issues. Actually I guess most of those are for v2.1, but still I should get around to it. :) There shouldn't be any major bugs left, so I'm expecting v2.2.rc1 out in maybe a week or so, hopefully followed by the final v2.2.0 soon afterwards. Please test and report any bugs found!

[Dovecot] Help with vpopmail authentication

Hello, Currently I have a qmail server with vpopmail+courierImap. I want setup a new server in DMZ for proxy IMAP connections and I have a doubt with authentication method. I've read that dovecot can use a vpopmail driver for authentication. As my user database/password is stored by vpopmail, I think that this would be the best method for check the auth logins against dovecot. But I've read the docs and many examples availables on WWW and I haven't found any reference to validate against an *external* vpopmail server. The examples configuration doesn't contain any host/port, so I suppose that driver try to use a local vopomaild. In my case, I only want dovecot for proxying IMAP connections to my current mail server, without store mails or user/password info in dovecot server, because all that info is already stored in real mailserver. The ideal scenario would be this: user ---IMAPs----> dovecot ----- IMAP ---> mailserver Any advice will be wellcome. Regards and thank you very much in advance

Looking at the logs, %c is obviously the encryption type, but... Why does it say 'TLS', when it technically (there is a difference after all) should say 'SSL'? Hello, I have a user sharing a folder to me (and other users). This has worked for me for a time. And it is still working for some users, but not for me. I'm using thunderbird (17.0.3, ubuntu 12.04 package). My server is dovecot 2.1.9 (it's the same since it works). The user sharing its mailbox is: $ sudo doveadm user t userdb: t home : /home/generica/02/001002 uid : 1002 he is sharing its mailbox "cron". [Dovecot] Deleted / read mails show up as new on remote imap clients

Hi, I've one problem: Mails, which I already read or deleted via my IMAP client (Thunderbird) on the same machine running the server (it runs behind DynDNS on my local machine, thanks to http://mein.homelinux.com/wiki/mailserver/) show up again if I connect via IMAP from other client computers, i.e. my notebook (Thunderbird again). As you can see from the config below I have /home/user/Maildir, not /var/mail - is that the problem? Or is that anything else, resulting in status from emails not being stored (or not being available remote) in the responding dovecot files (dovecot.index?). Some month ago I migrated from Cyrus, and if I remember correct I had some problems with migrating subscriptions, stati and so on (one had to use a special script, sorry, it's been some time now) ;-) So maybe s.th. went wrong which could be the source of this problem? Just guessing ...
