Hello, I'm bigginer dovecot. I use dovecot version 1.0.15 (rc) on debian . How create shared maildir ? I try to .................. # mkdir /home/share # maildirmake.dovecot /home/share/Maildir # chown root:mail /home/share # chmod 660 /home/share # vi /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf -------- add this ---------- namespace public { separator = / prefix = share. location = maildir:/home/share/Maildir } Thunderbird can see "share" , but can't subscribe..... Anyone please teach me how create shared maildir ? Thank you.

[Dovecot] Replace Domainname in Mail Location

Hello, I dont fully understand how the domain name replacement in mail_location takes place. If I connect to the server using my username as in the text file i can not access my Maildirs as %d gets not replaced. If i user username(a)domain.com the %d is correctly replaced. But, how would i configure my mail_location, to take the domain part from the server name i connect to? So i could set up my client to connect to mydomain.com and have just my username set as login? I did not find a variable that seems to be more correct than %d. So i guess i have to configure that elsewehre? In userdb? [Dovecot] Horde IMP w/ dovecot folder list

Hi! I'm using dovecot-1.1.7, Horde-3.3.2 and IMP-4.3.2. The left-side folder list has some folders, whos names contains localized (non-ascii) characters. This is displayed correctly when I select the "English (American)" language entry on the login page from the dropdown menu. But when I choose my locale, which is "Magyar" (Hungarian), the folders won't display the correct characters. It's like this: With "English (American)" locale: Ügyfél With "Magyar" locale: &ANw-gyf&AOk-l The latter is the same displaying as with the folder's name on the filesystem: # ls -1 user/Maildir/ [...] .&ANw-gyf&AOk-l/ [...] I've sent this message to imp@ but, they say it is a problem with my mailserver, which I suspected, because the wrong folder names are exactly the same as the folder names on the filesystem. [Dovecot] 1.1.7: quota problem, unable to delete mails when quota exceeded

Hi, When user exceeds it's quota then dovecot can't create it's files and it's showing zero mails :( This also means that user is unable to delete it's own mails. Sounds like kind-of bug, right? Normally, i use 'domain.ltd/username/Maildir' as users' maildir path, if i change them to hash style, e.g. 'A0/B0/domain.ltd/C0/D0/username/Maildir', will it speed up the index operation for MDA? I'm using maildrop to filter mail like: xfilter "/usr/bin/spamc" xfilter "/usr/bin/bogofilter -ep" I want to change to deliver (so I can use sieve) but can deliver do this?

[Dovecot] confused about deliver

I have dovecot serving a maildir in ~/Mail.imap. In Mail.imap I have cur/ new/ tmp/ .maillist1/ .maillist1/cur .maillist1/new .maillist1/tmp ... I made a sieve script, which looks like: require "fileinto"; if header :is "Subject" "test" { fileinto "test"; } ... with no final else clase. When mail is delivered to a maillist, caught by my sieve script, it goes into the correct subdir of maildir. But, when not caught by the script, I get: Dec 14 11:53:27 localhost deliver(nbecker): msgid=<d9f848520812140850q190f104fva5f586e43fa03994(a)mail.gmail.com>: saved mail to INBOX I can't find this mail saved to INBOX. There are no modified directories under maildir that I can find. Where did this mail go? I wanted it to go into the toplevel cur/, which is where my client finds them.

I have, for example, a "generic" rule that is able to sort almost any message from/to a mailing-list into a dedicated folder -i.e one rule for almost all my lists. Any recomendation ? Thank you

Hi, I am using SIEVE to filter/sort my incoming mails. I am subscribed to tens of mailing lists and I would like to file messages into folder of this pattern: INBOX/list/<tld>/<domain name>/<list name> So for example help-gnu-emacs(a)gnu.org would be filed under: INBOX/list/org/gnu/help-gnu-emacs The problem is Dovecot is telling me that this mailbox name is invalid. When I ran /usr/local/sbin/dovecot, the variable login_log_format_elements from dovecot.conf was honored. Now when I run /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap-login from /etc/inetd.conf, it isn't. How do I get imap-login to write log lines that use login_log_format_elements for the format? This is dovecot-1.2.alpha3 soon to be alpha4. Thanks, Jonathan

Hi all, I just had a panic with dovecot 1.1.6, two days after replacing 1.0.15 with it in production. Here are the logs immediately preceding the panic, I think they're related. It seems the user connected simultaneously from two different clients, from his own computer and a webmail running on the server, then manipulated mail folders on one side, and logged out. The panic occurred 3 seconds after the logout. Is there a setting I might have missed that could avoid that? [Dovecot] proxy and master user

Hi For some application we need a master user on our IMAP servers. We use dovecot 1.1.7 in proxy mode, with proxy_maybe (some mailboxes are on the proxy itself, others are on remote servers, also running dovecot). But the proxy removes the '*master' suffix from the username when using the master user to log in on the proxy. So the base name of the user with the master password are submitted to the real server, which of course fails. Is there a way to tell the proxy to forward the master user to the real server, without forcing it in destuser, since we also need to have regular (non master) logins? Somewhere between revision f5554ae61732 (12 days ago) and the release of 1.2a4 (f53952ac4285; 9 days ago) sorting appears to have broken. [Dovecot] Possible bug in Maildir++ quota?

While researching a possible bug in our custom-made Maildir++ expiration script, I found the following in src/plugins/quota/quota-maildir.c. | static const char * | maildir_list_next(struct maildir_list_context *ctx, time_t *mtime_r) | { | [...] | *mtime_r = st.st_size; | return str_c(ctx->path); | } As far as I unterstand, this seems incorrect, because the value in mtime_r is used, for example, in maildirs_check_have_changed to check whether any maildirs or folders have changed. If this isn't a bug, please satisfy my own curiosity and tell me what I'm missing. Ulrich

[Dovecot] fine tuning for 10 users?

Hello, How can i fine tune dovecot for less then 10 users? or is there no need? Also, is there any smtp client which can be used with it for a open-source standalone server? i want very-small foot print+secure server, qmail and sendmail are dinos, and i felt xmail is trying to do everything. (as we are less then 10 users here.) i liked round-cube for webmail. i would appreciate all suggestions and pointers. thank you. -B ________________________________

[Dovecot] Problem with imap running at 100%
