[Dovecot] ldap quota limitation problem

hello, We have configured the quota enforcement folowing the link (http://wiki.dovecot.org/Quota) but we note that the global quota limitation configuration in dovecot.conf works well but not the ldap users configuration limit. [Dovecot] From passwd-file to Postgresql database

Hello, I have a working installation of Dovecot, which use passwd-file for both users and passwords databases. My setup uses CRAM-MD5 for the authentification mechanism and the password in my passwd-file was stored encoded with HMAC-MD5. Now, I want to use Postgresql to replace those passwd-files. So I make the necessary change in my dovecot.conf file : ========================================= userdb sql { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf } passdb sql { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf } ========================================= In the dovecot-sql.conf file, I comment out the simplest query, and change the default_pass_scheme to HMAC-MD5 (as in my previous setup). I put my users from the passwd-file into my database, with the same user id, and the same password (starting with {HMAC-MD5}) ... ... but it fails :( The log file says to me : ========== dovecot: 2006-08-14 15:36:12 Info: auth(default): cram-md5(jon,xxx): password mismatch ========== I tried several other password schemes (DIGEST-MD5, PLAIN-MD5, PLAIN), but only PLAIN seems to work (of course, I changed the password in the database accordingly). The documentation isn't very clear about this (or I don't find it ?) : - in an "old" auth.txt, it is written that only PLAIN is supported, but I don't knwo if I can trust it ? - I've got an old dovecot-pgsql.conf (2004, maybe from dovecot 0.9x ?), which said that supported scheme are "PLAIN, PLAIN-MD5, DIGEST-MD5, and CRYPT" So, what I am doing wrong ? [Dovecot] Trying to compile again

I'm currently running a pre 1.0 version of dovecot. Months back I tried to compile beta6, couldn't due to some mysql client libraries issues, and gave up. I'm now trying again with rc6. This is on a fedora core2 box, with postfix 2.3 and mysql 5.0. The error I'm getting when I run make is below. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! hi im new to imap servers and dovecot ... and im trying to setup acls for my imap folders i made dovecot-acl in my ~/Maildir/ root, but the setting are only applyed to inbox (.INBOX) folder is there a way to setup acl for other folders i made ..for instance work (.work folder in maildir root) another thing ...it is posibile to accomplish that i can move mail between folders but i cant delete it? greetings, rado

Hello, I have upgraded my dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3 to dovecot-1.0-0.beta8.2.fc5 recently and now am having weird problem. If somebody's mailbox has the first line in a form of From "User Name" <user(a)host.domain.edu> Thu Oct 7 14:20:00 1999 instead of From user(a)host.domain.edu Thu Oct 7 14:20:00 1999 then that mailbox couldn't be precessed by dovecot. It wasn't a problem with 0.99.13, but it is a problem with 1.0. Is there any fix for that on a dovecot's side? I don't like the idea of going through all 100Gb of mailboxes and fixing the From line. Hey all, Got a super simple question that I can't find an answer to on google or on the list. I want dovecot to listen to port 143 and another port as well for imap. Is this possible? The dovecot.conf has a little note that says "If you want to specify ports # for each service, you will need to configure these settings inside the # protocol imap/pop3 { ... } section, so you can specify different ports # for IMAP/POP3." but in the protocol section for imap, I don't see any example or what not of changing the port. Any help? -Charlie

[Dovecot] Authentication Failure

Probably a newbie question.... sorry. Did a deluser a week or so ago, but didn't remove any of the users files. I re-enabled the user via useradd with the -u and set the uid the same as it was before. Now when I try and log the user into his mail via Thunderbird, /var/log/messages reports dovecot(pam_unix)[17259]: authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost= user=sean Any help is appreciated. [Dovecot] stale imap processes with 1.0.rc6 on FreeBSD

Was running dovecot-1.0.rc2 but many stale imap processes (only one user of IMAP). Switched to dovecot-1.0.rc6 but problem continued. This is on FreeBSD 4 something. Maybe it has bug with kqueue?? I read messages about the stale imap processes on the list. It seems to hit *BSD systems. But email about new release candidate indicated it should be fixed. I read on the pkgsrc commit list about --with-ioloop=best So I configured with that and saw that the I/O loop method is now kqueue. (I saved configure output and it was poll before). But the stale imap processes problem continues. For one user over past couple hours I have eight imap processes in "I" state. I have: File offsets ........................ : 64bit I/O loop method ..................... : kqueue File change notification method ..... : kqueue Building with SSL support ........... : yes (OpenSSL) Building with IPv6 support .......... : yes Building with pop3 server ........... : yes Building with mail delivery agent .. : yes Building with GSSAPI support ........ : no Building with user database modules . : static prefetch passwd passwd-file checkpassword (modules) Building with password lookup modules : passwd passwd-file pam checkpassword (modules) Building with SQL drivers ............: And I have: protocols = imap pop3 protocol imap { imap_client_workarounds = outlook-idle delay-newmail } (Just started using delay-newmail today.) My maillogs don't show any problems. The IMAP user tells me that Outlook says it has reset connections often. I see multiple imap-login Login within a few minutes for this same user who said received a connection reset in outlook at the same time. Just received a screenshot that said: Microsoft Office Outlook Failed to update headers. The TCP/IP connection unexpectedly terminated by the server. Then also received an error (in Outlook I think), like: imap session idle too long, connection reset (I don't have or use Outlook myself so can't test myself.) It is used for a lot of pop3 and seems fine with that. (It uses stunnel for pop3s but not imaps for over a week to eliminate stunnel from our troubleshooting). [Dovecot] Dovecot - Issue with Maildir++ quotas

Hi, I've been bitten by an issue running Squirrelmail on top of Dovecot using Maildir++ quotas. Having configured these quotas in Dovecot, I notice that Dovecot appears not to exclude the 'Trash' folder from its quota calculation (which it should do, according to the Maildir++ spec). Unfortunately this breaks Squirrelmail if I try to delete a message from a close-to-quota mailbox - as per July's thread: "Maildir++ quota - how to handle a full mailbox" Which unfortunately means that a fairly full mailbox can become 'Wedged' with Dovecot/Squirrelmail in this situation with its owner unable to delete messages if that's the only way they access their mailbox. I took a look at the source and found the 'Quota exceeded' lines in src/plugins/quota/quota-storage.c but didn't understand it well enough to dive in... except to notice that the 'Trash' folder doesn't appear to get excluded from the calculations. cheers, Andrew.

Hi! It seems there are problem with POP3 connection when TLS enabled. Previously it worked fine, but for now it doesn't... Plain & SSL POP3 works. Plain, TLS & SSL IMAP works too. In logs nothing than: dovecot: Aug 16 10:36:23 Warning: pop3-login: SSL_accept() failed: error:1408F455:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:decryption failed or bad record mac [xxx.xxx.xxx.xx] xxx.. - remote ip address On client side: KMail - Could not connect to host Your POP3 server claims to support TLS but negotiation was unsuccessful. Hello List, I've upgraded to dovecot from FreeBSD ports, changed the config from previous 0.99 version, but meet a problem with %d variable beeing empty in userdb static configuration directive. Our server supports multiple domains, e.g. 'mxc.ru' and 'mail.mxc.ru'. Users can log into using their full e-mail address like antonm(a)mxc.ru or antonm(a)mail.mxc.ru, but the feature of adding default domain should also be present, e.g. when logging with user name 'antonm' server should assume username to be 'antonm(a)mxc.ru' cause 'mxc.ru' is the default domain. This wroked fine in 0.99 version, but, alas, I can't get it working in newer version. Hi, I am planning a migration from Qpopper 4.0.5 to Dovecot.. I need to use mbox format (because Openwebmail does not have native Maildir support yet) and pop3. The system will have about 1500 users, once migrating is complete. To avoid users downloading their mailboxes all over again, i need to set "pop3_reuse_xuidl = yes".. But that option works since Dovecot 1.0alpha1. RHEL has latest stable version 0.99.11-2. So let me rephrase my question: is latest dovecot (1.0.rc6) stable enough to handle the load (mbox with pop3) or should I wait for the stable version to come out.. I want to avoid trouble under heavy load and/or with different pop3 clients. I found some problem reports of mbox related issues from dovecot mailing list. I could go with latest Qpopper 4.0.8, trading speed to safety.. If you have any similar experiences, please share your knowledge ;-) -- asko

[Dovecot] LDAP Authorising users from Active Directory

Hi, I am having stability problems setting up dovecot to authenticate virtual users against Active Directory on Win2k3. If the correct userid and password are used, everything works fine, see first logfile snippet below. If an unknown userid is used, again everything works fine. If I try logging in with a valid userid but get the password wrong, that connection is rejected (see second logfile snippet), and all subsequent connection even with correct userid/password are rejected with thunderbird getting a temporary auth failure (see third logfile snippet below). I am using auth_bind = yes and it seems as though after the failed login with an incorrect password, dovecot is loosing the dn & dnpass settings for the initial user lookup. I have found numerous references to PHP and ActiveDirectory on Win2k3 getting a similar "ldap_search() failed: Operations error" error and they suggested ensuring LDAP Version 3 is used and the Deref is set to 'never'. I am already using these setting to no avail. Has anyone else experience these problems, or have any suggestions on how to overcome it ? [Dovecot] imap+ssl feedback

I've been using 1.0rc5 since August 2nd. Thunderbird users on multiple platforms haven't had any problems saving messages to the Sent mailbox. I know from reading release notes that the SSL proxy code in rc5 is different from rc6, but I have to admit to being leery about upgrading since it works for me. Here's my configure command: ./configure --without-shadow --localstatedir=/var --with-notify=kqueue --with-cyrus-sasl2 --without-gssapi --without-vpopmail --prefix=/usr/local --build=i386-portbld-freebsd5.3 Thanks for your hard work! [Dovecot] Possible to alias ("ln") a folder?

Greetings - I've got an interesting issue that has cropped up due to some brain-dead "functionality" in mobile Windows Mobile clients... Our mail infrastructure traditionally uses "Sent" as our sent items folder. This is the default. However, WM puts it's sent messages in a folder called "Sent Items", and does not let you change it. Is there any proper and/or elegant way to alias the Sent folder to Sent Items (and allow both to coexist as the same message store) in an automated fashion without needing to set this up for each user? The RPM requires the above SQL library module, among others (inc. postgresql and sqlite). However: 1. Why do I need ANY SQL library??? I want PAM to do the authorization. 2. If I have to use SQL, I want Dovecot to use PostgreSQL (which I have installed and am using in another application). I hope the above is a dumb question, because that means the fix is easy. No, I'd rather not build my own; that's why I picked an RPM. Running Fedora Core 1. -- Dean

I'm unable to get dovecot-lda with sieve filtering to deliver into maildir folders. The examples on the wiki explicitly say "mbox", so I'm wondering, does the dovecot-lda sieve implementation not support filtering into maildir folders? -frank

Hi, I run a Postfix/Dovecot server with Outlook 2002, Thunderbird clients as well as a Squirrelmail setup. All use IMAP to query the server. I recently converted our mail spool from mbox to maildir. After the conversion, one of the users is receiving two types of error messages which appear in a popup window. 1. The first popup says the following The UI D of a message changed unexpectedly. This typically indicates a server bug. Your program may not function properly after this. It then gives details of the MsgSeqNum, old UID and the new UID. 2. The second popup says Your server has reported a UID which does not comply with the IMAP standard. This typically indicates a server bug. Your program may not function properly after this. Ive searched for this on google and it has been reported before, but there are no reports of a solution or workaround. I would really appreciate any pointers or suggestions.
