bug: usersfile very weird behaviour regarding path to mbox

dovecot --version 2.3.20 (80a5ac675d) having the following setup: (1) aioria:/srv/franper/mail # cat /etc/dovecot/users ***snip*** ventas-respaldo@franper.net:*snip*:1001:1000::/srv/franper/mail/ventas (2) aioria:/srv/franper/mail # ls -lha total 0 drwxr-x---. 1 1001 1000 238 Mar 13 05:07 . drwxr-sr-x. 1 1000 1001 62 Oct 24 21:29 .. ***snip*** drwxr-x---. 1 1001 1000 578 Mar 4 18:53 ventas drwx------. 1 1001 1000 246 Mar 13 05:07 ventas-respaldo (3) aioria:/srv/franper/mail # date -u Mon Mar 13 05:09:06 UTC 2023 where (1) I'm trying to expose the contents of the mbox ventas as ventas-respaldo(a)franper.net, well, for some reason it disregards that I'm pointing at /srv/franper/mail/ventas BUT does take the directory path at /srv/franper/mail and then constructs a /srv/franper/mail/ventas-respaldo path, which you can confirm with (2) showing ventas-respaldo modification date being today's date (3) because a client (Thunderbird 103 if you're interested but I think that it's not its fault at all) tried accessing ventas-respaldo(a)franper.net which should have pointed to /srv/franper/mail/ventas but instead did this very weird thing. set imap flags in user sieve scripts

Hi all Could anyone lead me into the right direction please? I use 'addflag ...' or 'fileinto :flags ...' in global sieve scripts to flag and sort incoming mail - that works. Trying to do that with custom user scripts doesn't work - I get the error that imap4flags only can be used in global scripts. Is there any way to get incoming mails labled and sorted by user sieve scripts? So something like this for a particular user doesn't work: if address :domain "From" "whatever.com"{ fileinto :flags ["\\todo"] "working/whatever"; } -- Cheers spi

Inconsistent filtering with debugging

Hello, I have the problem, that I have a Postfix/Dovecot combination running with Sieve activated. The sieve script is running in general as some messages get filtered and moved to the appropriate folders. Now, I see that for the envelope filter, the behavior differs depending if I am debugging the rules or if the mails are received in a regular way. I have something like this: require "envelope"; # ... if envelope :is "to" "foo(a)subdaomin.example.com" { fileinto "INBOX.bar"; stop; } # ... The thing is if I call sieve-filter on the INBOX, I get the information that the mail is to be moved to the appropriate folder. However during delivery the mail is not moved there. Other rules in the script are working so it is installed in general. Of course, I could send mails to the mail address for testing but I have no clue on where to look for issues, especially as the "main debugging tool" for the rules (sieve-filter) is strangely behaving differently. The reason, I wanted to use the envelope was because the mails are delivered to foo(a)subdomain.example.com. From there, some virtual aliases are forwarded to a cental account bar(a)example.net using postfix virtual aliases. Thus, the Delivered-To header is always showing the value bar(a)example.net which is not suited for filtering. I could filter the Received headers but hoped for a more "high level" solution. Winbind auhentication

Helo all! I'm trying to set up a dovecot server so that it authenticates local user via /etc/passwd (I'm on a Freebsd 13.1) and via winbindd for those that it cannot find localy. The samba suite is alive and well, postfix gets happily mail from domain users and saves it with correct name and permissions from the windows domain. If I try to authenticate a domain user via wbinfo it works, with dovecot it doesn't. Backend doesn't support GUIDs

Hi, Have some old dboxes where doveadm sync fails with "Backend doesn't support GUIDs, sync with header hashes instead". The error is right after reading from the folder dovecot.index.log.2. The dovecot version is 2.3.10. Any fix/workaround for the error?

Missing mailboxes after migration from Maildir -> mdbox

I migrated from existing dovecot Maildir to dbox. After adding separator to the namespace it migrated all Inbox mails, but the other mailboxes like user-created ones and "Junk", "Sent" and so on has not been migrated.
