Hi, I was wondering if I could get some help with Dovecot. I have just recently set up a mail server that runs on Ubuntu Server 10.04. It has got the current version of postfix and Dovecot. I have also got the squirrelmail set up as my webmail. Everything is fine. However, I have been reading some emails posted by Dovecot users regarding Dovecot LDA. I wonder if anyone might be able to let me know the benefits it might offer so that i could make a decision as to whether I need it or not. Thank you very much in advance

Hi, I'm very new to Dovecot plug-in development. Is there a simple way to do so some simple logging. I want and equivalent of printf to be able stick strings in /var/log/maillog. Regards, John

Hi, We need a small plug-in developed for dovecot. We are looking to pay for for its development. We need to add support for a custom IMAP command. The command is for the storage of a numeric PIN field in a database. The database is PostgreSQL. Another table in the database defines the minimum and maximum length of the numeric PIN field. The IMAP client server exchange after a user login resembles the following. C: A0001 CHANGE PIN 243289 S: A0001 OK CHANGE successful The numeric PIN number is stored in a field within a table the login username as key. Example errors are: C: A0001 CHANGE PINFJ 24DDD89 S: A0001 NO invalid password type C: A0001 CHANGE PIN 24DDD89 S: A0001 NO invalid characters C: A0001 CHANGE PIN 23 S: A0001 NO password too short C: A0001 CHANGE PIN 234567890123 S: A0001 NO password too long C: A0001 CHANGE PIN 0000 S: A0001 NO password blacklisted We believe this is not a big task for someone familiar with the design and implementation of dovecot plug-ins. Hi, Has anyone got the chance to get this running? I'm permanently getting this Serverbug error ... ;( *"[SERVERBUG] failed to send email"* ... This happens when I try to drag&drop mails from one to the other folder within a IMAP-session. What version of Dovecot must I have to get this plugin working? Or will it generally be broken in upcoming new releases of Dovecot? Best Regards Leander S.

[Dovecot] dovecot lda & sieve: resubmit folder for resieving

Hi, I'm currently restructuring my mail archives and migrated from a decade and a half old procmail supported solution to sieve. While doing so I often found that I'd like to filter a bunch of messages (with "bunch" in the area of 1-10K) with my shiny new sieve script. I found in the wiki a way to do that: http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/RefilterMail And it works well, it picks the mails via IMAP and resubmits them to dovecot-lda. But unfortunately the IMAP flags including \Sent, \Flagged etc are lost in the process. I started checking for other solutions beside getmail that might extract the imap flags as well, but I wouldn't know how to pass them to dovecot-lda. Would it make sense to suggest to have dovecot offer this kind of reprocessing itself? That way nothing would get lost in any transition. -- http://ATrpms.net/

Hi again, I`m a bit confused how to store a SSHA256 password in the database and I can`t find any information in the wiki. Do I have to store the SHA256 hash and the salt separately (what would the password_query be like in this way) or just the final SSHA256 hash? Regards Patrick

I'm getting Errors in Thunderbird, when using the antispam plugin: [SERVERBUG] failed to send email What am I doing wrong? there isn't that much to configure? I'm using Dovecot version 1.2.12. Does anyone know about that bug aswell, cause google research showed me that it might be a common bug?! Regards
