[Dovecot] Log the virtual email address and not the local account - dovecot 1.2.2 w/ MySQL

I recently started using dovecot and have it working well but I have one item I haven't been able to find an answer for. I am using MySQL with Dovecot for authentication with my virtual email customers. When the user logs in and checks email a log entry is recorded. Instead of the email address (bob(a)bob.net) being logged it records the local account (vemail101) in the POP3 log. How can I get dovecot to reflect the email address that the customer logged in with instead of the local account? Thx, Bill

[Dovecot] fts squat non-english search for 2 words

Hello, It looks I encoutered a bug or misconfiguration. fts_squat search for subject and body works excellent for English mails. For non-English (in particular, Russian) it works only when query consists of 1 word. Phrases - 2 and more words - always returns nothing. Example: search for "planet" ("планета") returns results, search for "Earth" ("Земля") also returns results, but "planet Earth" ("планета Земля") returns nothing. But there are emails having exact phrase "planet Earth". This problem occurs only for non-English queries, both for search in subject and in email body. I tried web-mail Horde 3.2 and Thunderbird. I turned fts plugin off and it correctly finds phrases with 2 and more russian words! So problem is squat. Is it a bug or known config issue? OS: Debian 5.0, installed as openVZ container inside Ubuntu 8.04. [Dovecot] virtual namespace question

Hi, I'm wondering if it is possible to create a virtual namespace on a prefix other than "virtual/". My goal is to mix IMAP folders with virtual folders on the same folder level (prefix = ""). mail_location = maildir:/data/mail/%d/%u/ # Virtual namespace private { prefix = separator = / location = virtual:/data/mail/%d/%u/virtual } # Default namespace private { separator = / prefix = inbox = yes } With this configuration the folders show up on the same level, but I'm unable to subscribe to them. When I change the prefix back to "virtual/" it works, but folders are still gruoped under "virtual". Funny thing is, when I use a prefix something like "vfolder/", the root folder is no longer greyed out in my MUA (TB3), and I get a "Mailbox doesn't exist: vfolder" error msg if I click on it. [Dovecot] expire plugin doesn't find mail location

Hi! After searching for hours now, I give up and have to ask here. I try to use the expire plugin but it always tries to expire my mails instead of the mails of the user. I read about the "Mail location setting problem (v1.1-v1.2) and configured a "mail" extra field in the userdb, but that doesn't have the effect I want. I have not idea, what I could try out more, so I ask here. So my main problem seems to be, that the mail attribute from the userdb is completely ignored in expire calls. But how do I fix this? [Dovecot] Dovecot-deliver sometimes fails when message set to discard via sieve

Hi, sometimes mails that i discard via sieve gets delivered to my inbox and i can not figure out why. So i hope you can give me a hint. My setup is: I use a self compiled dovecot 1.2.4 with installed sieve and managesieve plugin. Incoming mails a processed by Postfix and the delivered to Procmail. Procmail invokes Spamassassin and discard all mails marked as spam. The other mails are passed to Dovecot deliver this way: :0 w | /opt/dovecot/libexec/dovecot/deliver For moving mails to subdirectorys this works always, but not for mails that are discard via Sieve. Examples are: if header :contains "List-Id" "git.vger.kernel.org" { if header :contains "Subject" "[ANNOUNCE]" { fileinto "Announce"; stop; } if header :contains "Subject" "[ANN]" { fileinto "Announce"; stop; } if header :contains "Subject" "[PATCH" { discard; stop; } fileinto "Lists.Git"; stop; } or if header :contains "Organization" "web.de" { discard; stop; } This often works, but sometimes it fails. Procmail reports then that deliver reported an error (but not which) and delivers them to my inbox. There are also no message in dovecots or dovecot delivers log file. Dose anybody have an idea? Sorry for that question but: when you set in dovecot.conf this for example: socket listen { client { path = /var/spool/postfix/private/auth mode = 0660 user = postfix group = postfix } } and you run "dovecot -n" you'll see client: path: /var/spool/postfix/private/auth mode: 432 I'm wondering about the mode "432" - how is this value calculated? Same for the auth/master socket socket - the value ist "384" and in dovecot.conf it's 0600. Thanks for any info. Seba
