Hi all, I think I may be doing something wrong but, is it possible to proxy POP and IMAP users when using a checkpassword script as the passdb? I'm trying to write a perl script to handle authentication to a mix of SQL and POP3 sources whilst logging user passwords at the same time for a migration. [Dovecot] is there a script to find a message from a given username easily?

Hello people, I used primarily mutt and sendmail for many years. (And elm before mutt.) All my mail was saved into ~/Mail. Messages from, say, smith(a)foo.ber were stored in ~/Mail/smith; all mail from smith was catenated into one file, and if I wanted to find something that smith had written, I would just cd to ~/Mail and grep or egrep on a likely word or phrase. Hi all! I have a corpus of virtual users ( user1(a)domain.tld , user2(a)domain.tld, user3(a)domain.tld,..., usern(a)domain.tld ... ) authenticated against Active Directory. Is it possible to group some users (virtual) and give appropriate ACLs on a shared imap public folder using an ACL vfile? thanks in advance Dimitrios

I'm getting this Panic with some users on dovecot-1.2.7: Panic: file maildir-uidlist.c: line 1242 (maildir_uidlist_records_drop_expunges): assertion failed: (recs[i]- >uid < rec-> uid) There's another dovecot-1.2.3 running on identical hardware accessing the same NFS mail storage without problems.

[Dovecot] restrictions on folder length?

Greetings all, After migrating a few dozen people to our departmental mailserver, we've run into a problem with one user who makes extensive use of folders and nesting them. I've seen as many as 8 levels. The longest resulting folder name is 113 characters, which results in a total path length of 137 characters (/var/spool/mail/******). Their old mail server handled this fine, but dovecot is choking on it; imapsync reports "invalid mailbox name", and he gets the same error clicking on the mailboxes in Thunderbird (they seem to have been created, despite the error messages.) Mail was imported over using imapsync, and did so flawlessly for all the other accounts. Are we running up against a soft (configuration file) or hard (source) limit? Or is this a bug? Thanks! Brett

[Dovecot] expire plugin + --exec-mail in 1.2.6 version

Hello list, After upgrade to dovecot version 1.2.6 I have noticed some quota malfunctions(users become often overquota). Looking at logs closely I have found that quota value resets to general dovecot-config( quota = maildir:Mailbox quota quota_rule = *:storage=500M quota_rule2 = Trash:storage=10%% ), after dovecot --exec-mail ext /usr/libexec/dovecot/expire-tool.sh command. The problem that some users have their own quotas stored in ldap. In changes to version 1.2.6 I see - dovecot --exec-mail was broken. Is fixes to 1.2.6 touch userdb lookups from --exec-mail ? With 1.2.4 expire-tool works correct and I have no config changes to dovecot setup. If dovecot -n output is needed, please let me know. Thanks.
