[Dovecot] maildirsize quota does not referred after migration from courier

Dear All, We would like to migrate our existing courier to dovecot. After reading document on website and doing some tests, here are some issues we met. 1. According the the wiki, it seems to imply that once migrating from courier to dovecot, pop3 users may "lost/forget" their download "index/ history" which cause them to download again old mails that are kept on server side. If this is true, it would seriously annoy our users since they always keep old mails on server so that they can access them through webmail interface. Is there anyway to avoid this kind of situation? 2. Currently, we use only /etc/passwd to store our user information. Postfix is our MTA and maildrop is MDA. Quota settings were wriiten in the maildirsize file reside under Maildir directory at everyone's home. The command we use to set user quota: /usr/local/bin/maildirmake -q 315000000S Maildir After installing a test environment using dovecot v1.1.beta13, we found that it does not read the quota settings from the maildirsize file, instead, it only rely on the system wide settings. This could be a problem since we have different quota settings for different groups of users. Is this a bug of v1.1? Or should I use v1.0 instead? Will v1.1 fix this bug in the future? Scenario: server PC abruptly switched off due to power cable problems (an UPS cannot solve this issue), so during shutdown Linux was not able to resinchronize the system clock. After a few hours the server come back on, Linux booted and the services (ntpd, dovecot and many others) started But the system clock was 45 minutes ahead, so: Jan 19 11:13:39 gw ntpd[2112]: synchronized to LOCAL(0), stratum 10 Jan 19 11:13:39 gw ntpd[2112]: kernel time sync disabled 0041 Jan 19 11:14:43 gw ntpd[2112]: synchronized to 62.48.35.100, stratum 2 Jan 19 10:31:55 gw ntpd[2112]: time reset -3600.221385 s Jan 19 10:31:55 gw ntpd[2112]: kernel time sync enabled 0001 Jan 19 10:31:55 gw dovecot: Time just moved backwards by 3600 seconds. [Dovecot] Public mailboxes

Ciao everbody, I have a simple question for who has a few experience with dovecot. I want to share a mailbox with some users, I configure dovecot and now in my thinderbird I can see the public namespace. The problem is that I cann't see the "inbox" of the mailbox, in other words when a mail arrive in this mailbox I can not see it, but only what is in other folders. Why? Is it normal? What can I do to let my users to see new messages? Thanks for you help. Bye

[Dovecot] Patch for assertion failure in 1.0.10

Hi FETCHing a largish (~30K) zlib compressed maildir message causes an assertion failure on an attempt to grow the stream buffer to smaller than its current size. I believe the attached patch fixes this.

I've just enabled IMAP quota support on a LDAP userbase in about an hour. In this hour I read the Dovecot documentation on quota support, extended the customers LDAP schema, added a "mailQuota"-attribute and a value to all users, enabled the plugin in dovecot.conf, added the attribute query in dovecot-ldap.conf, reloaded the system and tested the functionality and ... everything worked out of the box. Hi SELECTING a non-existent folder in 1.0.10 with maildir causes a seg fault and client disconnect. I believe this patch fixes the problem.

[Dovecot] Need help to install dovecot on solaris 10 with openldap libs

Hi, I install dovecot with ldap support at Solaris 10 (x86). I know that solaris LDAP is broken and so I install openldap. OpenLDAP shared libraries are at /usr/local/lib and /usr/local/include. While installing dovecot, I did the followings: I execute this before run "./configure --with-ldap" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib -R/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib -L/usr/local/lib -R/usr/local/lib" but dovecot is using the Solaris default LDAP lib files. [Dovecot] convert plugin fails - drops root privileges then tries to create file in /

Hi I just tried to run the convert plugin as described at http://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/Convert (except with mail_location = maildir:~/Mail) It fails with an error message: Eopen(/.temp.falcon.endbracket.net.18618.8d5e0a038da6cf06) failed: Permission denied Error: imap dump-capability process returned 89 It looks like Dovecot execs /usr/libexec/dovecot/imap, which drops root privileges (probably via get_imap_capability), then loads /usr/lib/dovecot/imap/lib01_convert_plugin.so, which tries to create a file in the root directory, which it obviously won't have write privileges on. I'm running dovecot-1.0-1.2.rc15.el5 on CentOS 5. If I change the paths from ~ to /home/%u, I get this error message: Emkdir_parents(/home/dump-capability/mail) failed: Permission denied
