Hi, I just upgraded to version 1.0.5 hoping to get rid of a problem that made Thunderbird download all mails from time to time. I now see this error (below). Does anyone know what it means? Error: IMAP(user): /mail2/home/user/.Maildir/.Folders.Persons.Foldername/dovecot-uidlist: Broken header (uidvalidity = 0, next_uid=10) Error: IMAP(user): /mail2/home/user/.Maildir/.Folders.2005/dovecot-uidlist: Broken header (uidvalidity = 0, next_uid=1186) Mails are stored in userhomedirs that are located on a NFS export. I was playing around with dovecot-1.1 and maildir++ quotas, and ran into a reproducible error with indexing. This only seems to be a problem for new maildirs. If I send a message without the quota plugin on, and "seed" the index/control files, future deliveries with the quota plugin seem to succeed without errors. Hi, i start today my new mail server with dovecot with about 2000 User on it. i don't know if it's a problem or not but when a client connect in pop3 the message keep on the server. Hi everyone. I can't get mail.app to report back correct quota information using mail.app and dovecot (though it works with courier-imap). I am looking at migrating away from courier-imap to dovecot but this issue is something I need to have resolved <somehow>. Thunderbird is fine and reports back good info on either connection. I am off to read RFCs (can't I just read the sendmail book again? Might be easier...) to see what should really be done. [Dovecot] SASL from remote server

Is there a way, using Dovecot and Postfix, to use SASL from a remote server? Since it appears the communication uses Unix sockets, does this mean it is restricted to local services only? I have a two-server configuration, where my firewall also runs the mail gateway/filter (Postfix + ASSP). My internal server has Postfix + Dovecot. Right now I have my internal server configured to use Dovecot SASL, but the external server is still using the Courier authdaemon against the LDAP database. -- Daniel

[Dovecot] Running a script when a mail arrives

Hi, I'm trying to execute a script when a mail arrives in a given user's mailbox. Something like .dovecot.sieve. The reason I'm not using sieve itself is that I need to do stuff on mail arrival, which is beyond sieve's features. So is there a way to tell dovecot to run a script when a mail arrives in a certain mailbox? Optionally a solution to forward the whole mail to a script would be good too. -- Dennis Becker

Any chance that multiple "ignore=" statements cab be specified for a quota in Dovecot 1.0.x? We know this is possible in 1.1, but won't be able to update until it's stable. We've tried: quota = maildir:storage=256000:ignore=Junk:ignore=Trash and quota = maildir:storage=256000:ignore=Junk,Trash However, only "Junk" is ignored, and email can't be deleted when the mailbox is full. Hi there, I have two questions: - Is there a dovecot documentation for developers (apart from the source itself)? - In the site I am concerned with, it happens very often that one mail is delivered to hundreds of recipients. Since almost all of the mailboxes are situated on the same filesystem, the mail is delivered by just saving it once and establishing hardlinks from the mail directories of all the other recipients to this one mail.
