[Dovecot] FW: Postfix Dovecot MySQL user/pass authentication:: Password Mismatch

Having some difficulty with this one: I have Postfix setup, with a web interface for postfixadmin. Both Dovecot and Postfix are setup to use the same MySQL database to authenticate users. Only SSL connections are allowed, so I use PLAIN/cleartext as my password type. Any suggestions? It seems like the passwords match, as it prints them both and they are the same, but for some reason it is failing when comparing them... I'm at a loss, and I can't seem to find anyone else who has had quite this issue. CentOS 4.3 if that helps, newest builds of dovecot and postfix downloaded and compiled today, both correctly with mysql and sasl support. I appreciate any input.. - Brad

[Dovecot] Postfix/Dovecot/SaSL/MySQL Problem

I have a current working installation of Postfix, Dovecot and MySQL. I want to utilize the Dovecot implementation of SaSL for SMTP-AUTH. Here is the issue I am running into when making the appropriate changes to my configs, when starting Dovecot with the addition of the socket listen configuration in dovecot.conf, I see this error in the logs: Jul 5 00:02:11 localhost dovecot: Dovecot v1.0.beta9 starting up Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: child 25908 (auth) returned error 89 Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: child 25910 (auth) returned error 89 Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: child 25911 (auth) returned error 89 Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: child 25912 (auth) returned error 89 Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: Auth process died too early - shutting down Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: auth(default): Socket already exists: /var/spool/postfix/private/auth Not quite sure why this is happening...I searched on google for this and found nothing. If anyone could please shed some light on this for me then please do as it would be appreciated. Hi all, i got a problem with the umask parameter. I set it to umask=0007 because i need to access mail with another process with different uid, but dovecot seems to ignore the directive for files. I'm using the last 1.0_rc2 release and i'm storing mail in maildir format. [Dovecot] Dovecot authentication issue with postgresql

Good day, I am having trouble getting dovecot to authenticate using postgresql. For some reason, it fails on a PAM error, although I have specified pgsql as authentication? Here my setups: dovecot.conf: -- snip-- (not sure if you need teh rest) auth = digest_md5 auth_mechanisms = plain digest-md5 auth_userdb = pgsql /etc/dovecot-pgsql.conf auth_passdb = pgsql /etc/dovecot-pgsql.conf auth_user = root dovecot-pgsql.conf: connect = host=localhost dbname=postfix user=postfix password=postfix default_pass_scheme = MD5 password_query = SELECT password FROM mailbox WHERE username = '%u' user_query = SELECT '/var/spool/vmail/'||maildir AS home, uid, gid FROM mailbox WHERE username = '%u' I get an authentication error trying to log in. It queries the database for the password, but it does not seem to query for user? [Dovecot] subscription to mail folders not working properly anymore with dovecot1.0x ?

Hi we run dovecot on sun solaris 9. I try to switch from dovecot 0.99.11 to dovecot 1.0, with ssl support turned on. The user's mail are stored in mbox format in Mail in their home dirs. I was not able to get the subscrition working properly with the new dovecot. New means: 1.0beta2 and now also 1.0.RC1 (beta9) The client mailreaders are mainly thunderbird 1.0x and 1.5.x, Netscape Messenger, and SquirrelMail for web access. The mail folder subscriptions stored in <usershome>/Mail/.subscriptions works fine with the dovecot 0.99.11. With dovecot_1.0 the subscriptions get properly read, but as soon as the user wants to make any changes to them (for example subscribing to a new folder out of thunderbird), the subscriptions get lost, the file <usershome>/Mail/.subscriptions simply disappears. Did I miss any point in the configuration? Or does someone else encounter the same problem?
