[Dovecot] Error by POP3 login

Hello! After the success to get Dovecot finally running i have now another problem, but don't know what is wrong there, this is the message i got: pop3(contact(a)maddy.cc): Failed to create storage with data: /var/vmail/maddy.cc/contact/ What does it mean? With 1.0-tests you can use: pop3_uidl_format = %08Xv%08Xu In the dovecot-example.conf file, it appears that the mentions of "%08Xu%08Xv" as being fail-safe and being the new default may be typos, since that format doesn't seem to come from anywhere. Should they not say "%08Xv%08Xu" ? (It'll still provide the same sort of unique value, only with the ends reversed; i.e. it should still work ok. But consistency and compatibility is nice.) mm

[Dovecot] unlink a directory

Hi, Occasionally I get an error message in my dovecot log when, in evolution, I click on the inbox: dovecot: Apr 21 00:07:06 Error: imap(admin): unlink(/home/admin/.maildir/cur/1145393825.P23027Q0M159929.terminator.odyssey.nl:2,ST) failed: Is a directory Instead of the message being delivered as a file it appears to be written as a directory. Deleting those directories solves the error message from reappearing. Any ideas? I use FC5, dovecot-1.0-0.beta2.7, postfix-2.2.8-1.2, procmail-3.22-16.2.1 Regards, Alfred

[Dovecot] Permissions for Public Namespace?

Dear List, We've been following: http://wiki.dovecot.org/SharedFolders But all we can do is subscribe. Hi, An assertion that I haven't seen before: Apr 20 11:15:32 emerald dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error] IMAP(user): file mbox-sync-rewrite.c: line 106 (mbox_sync_headers_add_space): assertion failed: (start_pos < data_size) gdb output from the core file of imap is attached. [Dovecot] Maildir++ Unlimited Quota.

Does this Maildir++ implementation have an "unlimited" quota? It looks like all of the other Maildir++ software uses "0" for this ... it doesn't seem to work on Dovecot. Steve

[Dovecot] Thunderbird IMAP + TLS error

Hi, i'm having a weird message connecting to an account using IMAP + TLS from thunderbird (evolution works great, so does SSL in thunderbird, haven't tested anywhere else yet): "You cannot login to <domain> because the server has disabled login. You may need to connect via SSL or TLS. Please check..." in auth.log all i have is: "imap-login: Aborted login: rip=<my ip>, lip=<server ip> Any thoughts? -- João Inácio http://www.jcinacio.com

I haven't been able to find what is responsible for altering the time on APPENDed mail, but was able to come up with a temporary workaround ... simply calling utime() later on in the process resolves it. [Dovecot] Does NIS/yp work for authentication

If a host is running NIS (passwd file ends in +::0:0:::) authentication, will dovecot be able to authenticate with auth_userdb = passwd directly and automagically or do you have to do a ypcat passwd > pwfile periodically to generate a passwd file that dovecot can use? ? [Dovecot] Connection closed by foreign host.

I'm writing this on behalf of someone else... They successfully setup Dovecot, and can login to Dovecot using telnet but as soon as they are logged in, they get the message "Connection closed by foreign host" and are disconnected. The user is a valid Linux user and the mail file exists under /var/mail. They say no errors are written to /var/log/maillog. # telnet localhost 110 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1). Escape character is '^]'. +OK dovecot ready. USER mymailuser +OK PASS 123456 +OK Logged in. Connection closed by foreign host. # Can anyone give me ideas where we would begin troubleshooting this? Many thanks, Steve :)
