Hello Everyone, I am playing with the $subject matter using 1.0alpha4, and thanks to the archives, I lifted this one from Alexander Shikoff off and used it in my setup. auth default { mechanisms = plain user = root passdb pam { args = pop3 } passdb sql { args = /usr/local/dovecot/etc/dovecot-mysql.conf } userdb passwd { } userdb sql { args = /usr/local/dovecot/etc/dovecot-mysql.conf } } It seems to work, but I have virtual users as well as system users. System accounts have their mail stored as follows: default_mail_env = maildir:/home/%u/Maildir While virtual users have this: default_mail_env = maildir:/htdocs/virtual/spool/%d/%u/Maildir Now, virtual users can login because I have used their $default_mail_env in my configuration. I am stuck how to get system users to successfully access their e-mails. Here is the error I get: beastie# telnet 0 110 Trying 0.0.0.0... Connected to 0. Escape character is '^]'. +OK Welcome. Dovecot is Ready to serve. user wash +OK pass a_verysecret1 +OK Logged in. -ERR No INBOX for user. Connection closed by foreign host. In the log file, here is what I see: dovecot: Nov 19 23:22:11 Error: pop3(wash): mkdir(/htdocs/virtual/spool//wash/Maildir/cur) failed: Permission denied dovecot: Nov 19 23:22:11 Error: pop3(wash): mkdir(/htdocs/virtual/spool//wash/Maildir/cur) failed: Permission denied dovecot: Nov 19 23:22:11 Error: pop3(wash): Couldn't open INBOX: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information. ... which is wrong, since mail for user "wash" is in /home/wash/Maildir. How do I make dovecot work in this situation? [Dovecot] After restart dovecot do not serves IMAPS anymore

I had to restart computer yesterday and now Dovecot has strange behaviour. Dovecot is running and should serve IMAPS, but client Mozilla Thunderbird cannot connect. I tried openssl s_client -connect localhost:993 and it said only CONNECTED(00000003). A time ago when everything was OK, the listing after connection was "a bit" longer than it is now. I remember there was "OK, dovecot ready" or something like that. Now, there is none. Of course in /etc/dovecot.conf: protocols = imaps imaps_listen = * ssl_disable = no So, what's the problem?

[Dovecot] Somebody known how to disable concurrent access on mailbox?

Hi, I have a fedora 4 with dovecot, my problem is this: often two computers approach the same one mailbox using the same customer: I would want to inhibit this. Somebody known how?

[Dovecot] Dovecot logs to syslog (other than MAIL)?

I see in the config file where I can enable syslog, but then all logging goes to the MAIL facility. I could find no reference to changing the facility:level for syslogging. Is that implemented, or planned? I know I could just write it to a file, but I'd prefer to use syslog because then I can pipe it to a central logging server.

[Dovecot] Multiple Mailstores using 1.0alpha4

I am using qmail-ldap to provide virtual users to my system, but I also have some shell users on the system as well. Virtual users go into /home/vmail/mailstore/$username/ System users go into /home/$username/Maildir How can I have both of these available as inboxes in dovecot using ldap logins? [Dovecot] Yet another silly question...

Ok, I now have Dovecot working but I'm having an issue with my start up from xinetd. I tried to follow the examples in the documentation, but why can't I just have a single entry for IMAP with just dovecot? Wouldn't this also open up the SSL and the POP3 stuff as well? [Dovecot] Unused SQL API

Greetings, recently I've been writing a database driver module for Dovecot to use SQLite. It's mostly for my own use, but I do recall other people have asked for this. Firstly - Timo, I grow to love your work more and more every day. :) I have not had any trouble figuring out what is needed of the driver, even without any API documentation. However, the one part of the driver that's given me pause has turned out to most likely be unnecessary. Whilst I was trying to work out how to deal with the sql_result->get_values() call without leaking memory, it seemed an odd method to have along side the other calls. So I decided to look for where it was used, to try to understand. Only, it isn't. The _only_ point I can find in the sources that calls that method is in the Postgress SQL driver. I just upgraded from alpha 3 to alpha 4 and now I'm getting these errors: dovecot: Nov 28 16:17:37 Info: Dovecot v1.0.alpha4 starting up dovecot: Nov 28 16:20:11 Info: imap-login: Login: user=<jdoe>, method=PLAIN, rip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, lip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, TLS dovecot: Nov 28 16:20:13 Info: imap-login: Login: user=<jdoe>, method=PLAIN, rip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, lip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, TLS dovecot: Nov 28 16:20:13 Error: imap(jdoe): flock() locks not supported dovecot: Nov 28 16:20:13 Error: child 15661 (imap) returned error 89 I'm using maildir so locking shouldn't be an issue. Mail storage is NOT nfs mounted. I'm on Solaris 9. Any ideas? -- Andy

[Dovecot] Question on moving folders

Is there a way to move an imap subfolder up one level? I have a bad mouse and every now and then I have accidentally dragged an imap folder on top of another folder. I am unable to get the original folder back up one level. I've tried using several clients and I can't get it to work with dovecot. I keep getting a "folder already exists" message. I'm guessing dovecot still sees the original folder before it was moved. Any tips... besides getting a new mouse? -- Andy
