How do I enable sieve trace debugging?

Hi all, I want to enable trace debugging for sieve. Most specifically, I want to know what sieve scripts are running, and whether they’re doing anything. I cannot get anything other than dead silence from dovecot with respect to sieve. Changing IMAP separator - does it break things?

Dear Colleagues, I am using Dovecot 2.3.4.1 with maildirs. Just found out that MacOS Mail clients cannot work with nested folders, presumably because the MacOS Mail does not understand "." as the IMAP separator. Other clients (ThunderBird, Sylpheed, mutt) work fine. Do you think I can change the hierarchy separator in the "inbox" namespace without breaking other clients and the mail layout on disk, losing mail etc? I don't want to break mail for 50 people just to please one Mac Mail user. Hi, Not sure if this is it, but I used to have the same error when I started with dovecot. Aki's response was the following (and solved my problem). ------------- Hi! You can't set service imap { service_count = 256 } if you are using multiple system UIDs. See https://wiki.dovecot.org/Services#imap.2C_pop3.2C_submission.2C_managesieve *service_count* can be changed from 1 if only a single UID is used for mail users. This is improves performance, but it's less secure, because bugs in code may leak email data from another user's earlier connection. My patch simply hides the truncation when reading the mail. But it's anyway best that can be done about them. zstd also has a bug in writing compressed output, but it should always crash instead of writing broken output. Spam learning for rspamd

I'm quite new to Dovecot, so forgive me if this is a simple question. I've got rspamd running, and it's rewriting the subject of many messages as spam even when they are not. I've moved things out of the spam folder, which I was under the impression would teach rspamd since I've connected a sieve script that is supposed to call rspamd's learning tool, but nothing is happening. I'm really at a loss as to where to even begin searching for an answer, so any help is appreciated! -- Dan Egli On my Test server

Procmail with Dovecot

Hey folks, here's a question. I want to enable procmail for the users so that they can have their incoming messages sorted info various folders and such regardless of MUA access or web access. I know I can set procmail to deliver to a maildir, but wouldn't that screw up dovecot's indexes? If it would, what can I do to ensure that the indexes stay correct? I'm starting to get things better done now. Moved to all virtual users over IMAP. Using a SQL database for users/passwords. Setting up folders working properly with neomutt. Right now, that leaves me with just new mail in the INBOX, and other folders. I have a bunch of old mail in each users Maildirs in their real home folders. Right now, I'd like to move all the old mail into a folder (doesn't really matter what it's called). Right now is actually a perfect time to do this by good luck in timing. How should I go about creating a new folder for those messages and then adding the old mail from system user home Maildir folders to the virtual users folders I'm using? DKIM fail if WHM adds Message-ID, should be Message-Id

I created a client library to send emails for a webapp. After connecting to the SMTP server with credential setup in CPANEL, and then do NOT add Message-Id header, the DKIM signature 'h' record created by dovecot/WHM is wrong, and a Message-ID (with a capital D) header is added, invalidating the generated DKIM signature value. This causes outlook, yahoo, gmail and other email recipients to add 'dkim:fail' to the message, and thus relegate it to junk or spam. The work around is to add to the message a Message-Id with a little 'd' header. Then the SMTP server processes the email with the correct generated DKIM, correct DKIM 'h' record and does not add a Message-ID header. My SMTP hosting providers that run the WHM/dovecot/CPANEL software are refusing to raise this as a bug and have requested that I do it. Regards Robert
