[Dovecot] Cannot access a file with Mulberry from a dovecot server if the mail does not end with a newline character.

I use Mulberry 3.1.6 on Windows to read my mails with dovecot 0.99.12 Solaris 9. There are some mail which I cannot read. When I try to open such a mail, dovecot quits and restarts (I can see that with ps, nothing is logged). The interesting thing is, that I can access the file with Netscape 4.8 via dovecot. The problem is the following: I copied the file in the Maildir directory, opened the copied file with vi and saved it. Now, I run a diff: | $ diff orig:2,S copy:2,S | Warning: missing newline at end of file orig:2,S | 12c12 | < <http://forums.mtgnews.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35559> | --- | > <http://forums.mtgnews.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35559> As you can see, vi adds the newline on the last line automatically if you save the file. Now, Mulberry/dovecot is able to read this file. I'm not sure if this is a dovecot or Mulberry problem. btw: This problematic mail was created with Mulberry 3.1.6. ;-) Sven

[Dovecot] Feature-request: ip based access control (libwrap)

Is there plans to use libwrap Or is there already some kind of access control i have missed?? What i really want is a mechanism so i can say: If The request comes from "123.121.212.0" dont offer ssl and accept plain else demand ssl and no plain I now have this (almost) in another imap server by xinetd and two ip addresses. I could solve this by iptables or access list on the router but i would prefer to have it in the software itself. Hello, I'm trying to debug search command with Japanese 'ISO-2022-JP' codec. ISO-2022-JP codec needs to keep character cases until convert to UTF-8. For example: * '\033[$B%s\033[(B' means a character sounds 'N' * '\033[$B%S\033[(B' means a character sounds 'Bi' It causes a trouble in searches with Japanese. I found imap/imap-search.c/add_new() makes strings uppercase and fixed. But search results didn't affected.. ;-) I hope I can fix this problem in a few days. But I'm not clear about dovecot's source. [Dovecot] CRASH with squirrelmail.

I'm using: [root@gwydion root]# rpm -q squirrelmail dovecot squirrelmail-1.4.3-0.f1.1 dovecot-0.99.12-2.1.fc1.rf [root@gwydion root]# It works very good (a bit slow I would say, but ok)... until I enable MySQL auth mechanism. When I do that, dovecot-auth crashes when squirrelmail try to login. [Dovecot] Using Dovecot with Thunderbird 1.0 on Macintosh

Hi.. (and Happy New Year).. I tried switching over from Apple's Mail client (applemail) that is part of Panther to using Thunderbird 1.0 and find that all of the folders in my imap mailbox are messed up. Below is what Thunderbird is claiming the folder structure looks like : Inbox Arch Archiv Archive BMW Co E-Bay M Miscellaneous ML Bargains CKF Que Sof Sonn Ideally, the way it looks in Applemail looks more like the following: Inbox Archive BMW CarFax Coupons E-Bay Miscellaneous ML Bargains CKF [and a bunch of others that were missing from Thunderbird] Nextel OpexLD Palm Paypal Quest SW Realtors Registrations+Purchases Schoolpop ... [others] Software Updates Sonnet ... [others] Any ideas on what is going on here? I just moved to DoveCot 0.99.12, but it doesn't appear to make any distance. Also, if I try to pull up any of the weird folders in Thunderbird, it of course complains about the folders not existing.. Any ideas on how to get around this would be much appreciated! [Dovecot] problem with default_mail_env

I'v set the default_mail_env to maildir:/var/maildir/%d/%u where /var/maildir/ is the root dorectory for my maildir tree and I'm getting the folowing error in the maillog : Jan 3 15:16:58 websrv pop3(roi): unlink(/var/maildir//roi/cur/new:2,T) failed: Is a directory Notice that the %d is missing. If I change to 'default_mail_env = maildir:/var/maildir/example.tld/%u' then it's all working fine only I can't create other virtual domains. If anybody can help me solve this one...

Hello, I wrote a patch for header search about a word over two lines. Please check it. For example, following header string contains a word splitted into two mime encoded block. It's normal behavior of MUAs in CJK environment. [Dovecot] possible bug with mail->get_header and caching?

I don't know if this is intended or not, but here it comes. I have * that copy plugin I was working on * dovecot 1.0-test59 * thunderbird test client My copy plugin looks for the X-DSPAM-Signature header line, and reports it to syslog as such: imap: we have a signature: "X-DSPAM-Signature: <sig>" where <sig> is replaced by what is found in the header line. This only happens when I copy in/out of the SPAM folder (which works fine). Now, when a mail is copied from INBOX to SPAM that doesn't have the signature line, I return an error to the client saying the user can't do that copy since the signature line is necessary. I detect the condition of not having that signature line by checking like this: if (!(signature = mail->get_header(mail, "X-DSPAM-Signature")) { ... return error ... } This works fine, error comes back. Second try, copying a mail that has the header line: works. So, lets do some code changes, disconnect and reconnect to reload the plugin. All of a sudden, copying mails that don't have the header line works too! Uhh? Lets go looking at syslog: imap: we have a signature: "X-DSPAM-Signature: " The only rational explanation I could come up with is that dovecot caches the header line and somehow decided that since it knows about the X-DSPAM-Signature header line mails that don't contain it should have an empty version of it. Well, I can of course test for this (and I actually should anyway, an empty signature isn't useful to dspam), but I do think this is a bug since it makes distinguishing between empty and non-present header lines impossible. [Dovecot] PostgreSQL user database

Hi, I am using postgresql for my password and user databases. The problem is, that the information needed in the user database is held in more than one table. But it seems to me that dovecot expects to get all the information for mailbox, uid, gid and home in _one_ query. Is there a way to get around this? Maybe even getting some of this information by another way than pgsql (this is more a rethorical question, since I have this information in the DB, but sometimes it is useful to get, for example the location of the mailbox by another way than the uid and gid). But my primary question is if I can set these fields in different queries. [Dovecot] Dovecot + MySql (NO PAM) Howto

As mentioned before, I got Dovecot with Fedora and it does not have the necessary documentation. Can some one please direct me to the correct path of making this type of configuration work. I got Dovecot to authorize the users Via PAM & Mysql but still getting errors (acct_mgmt & setcred) that I can't figure out how to solve.
