[Dovecot] Excessive dovecot-auth proceses

Hi Guys, I may have missed something in the conf file but while using a standard mysql auth method I'm finding many dovecot-auth processing sitting doing nothing. They grow to the extent that mysql runs out of connections after a week. Any ideas? I've been getting a few of these errors on a couple different mboxes. This is using the CVS version as of May 14. So far, these are the only errors and it looks like most/all of the older ones are gone. [Dovecot] Migrating Dovecot 0.99 to 1.0stable

Hi, I'm planing to move a big mail server currently under Dovecot 0.99 to Dovecot 1.0 stable. One problem I had once when doing this was that all the UIDL had to change and that all users using pop3 and leaving their messages on the server had to re-download all of them, which is annoying. I'd like to know to the UIDL really have to change when migrating from 0.99 to 1.0stable or if this was a configuration problem on my side. Are there any tips for this to be as transparent as possible for the users ? http://dovecot.org/test/ - vpopmail authentication fix - many mmap_disable=yes fixes and a few optimizations - pop3 hang fix - mbox fix for "last-uid lost" error (hopefully last one) - mbox fix for losing dirty flag, causing lost message flags mmap_disable=yes seems to be finally working pretty well. There should be no more cache file related errors with it enabled. I'm still seeing "UID inserted in the middle of mailbox" error a couple of times in hour (out of ~320000 logins/h), so mbox code is still not perfect but I'd think it's good enough for normal use :)

[Dovecot] Transaction log file issue on dovecot-stable

Situation: dovecot-stable-20050528 on x86, Linux 2.4.30, ext3, maildir I'm trying to use the imapsync utility (http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/) to copy 1500 messages from a UW-imap server to dovecot. After about 100 messages are successfully appended, I'm seeing this in the server log, following which all APPENDs fail. [Dovecot] imap disconnects on my account only

Talk about personal problems! I am using dovecot-0.99.13-4.FC2, and everything has been going fine for months. Earlier this afternoon, Thunderbird's status pane would say 'Sending authenticate login information...' and I would no longer receive email. When I checked with others, they were fine and dandy. I tried kmail, evolution, and even tried webmail. All had connection errors. Checking the logs I can see the following: May 27 14:07:58 mongo imap-login: Login: mitchy [162.84.141.200] May 27 14:07:58 mongo imap(mitchy): getgroups() failed: Invalid argument May 27 14:07:58 mongo dovecot: child 3264 (imap) returned error 89 I can see new messages in $Maildir, so it is all about authentication, which I am completely clueless about as it has been working for as long as I have had this server. What steps can I take to debug the situation? -- Mitch

I've been seeing this in my log (test69) for a user who has Thunderbird as a client: Error: IMAP(andrew): Corrupted index file /home/a/andrew/Maildir/dovecot.index: header doesn't end with NUL Thoughts? -D -- <dr.pox> what're the units of the coefficient of agnosticity? I don't knows per hour?
