Hi - I've been using Hastymail with my Dovecot server for awhile now. However, I have noticed that at some point Hastymail stopped showing the number of unseen messages in its folder drop down list, it just shows 0 for the folders that I have it checking for unseen messages. I'm not sure when it broke, but I think it's when I went to one of the testing builds several months ago. I just upgraded to Hastymail 1.3 and Dovecot testing66 today just to see if the issue would go away and it hasn't. So I did some digging and I think I found the cause of the issue... If I send a STATUS command, like the one shown below, Dovecot changes the mailbox delimiter in the result from a "/" to a "."... 2 STATUS "Misc/Spam" (UNSEEN) * STATUS "Misc.Spam" (UNSEEN 3) 2 OK Status completed. I was able to work around this in Hastymail by substituting a "/" for a "." when the result comes back, but it's not that elegant. Any thoughts on why this might be happening in Dovecot? Is it a configuration issue on my part, or a bug? The private namespace in my dovecot.conf has the following: separator = / Thanks, Lawrence

I'm getting these over and over again in my dovecot [CVS] logs. I'm using PAM for authentication- something that worked a few weeks ago. [Dovecot] Dovecot 1.0 POP3 login but no mail

Dovecot is installed on the hosted FC1 server I have, it was working fine until yesterday when they had to bounce the server. I can login fine from Outlook or connect telnet <hostname> 110. But even though I can see sendmail has received mail into my %h/.maildir (via webmail's user mail facility) when I log into dovecot via Outlook it does not retrieve any of it. I tried from W2K "telnet <hostname> 110", it connects "+OK dovecot ready.", then I typed "LOGIN <username> <password>" and i get "-ERR Unknown command.". However with Outlook it logs in fine I see in maillog the result, no other errors in maillog. Cannot see what is wrong. Here are the important bits of my dovecot.conf, everything else is std. i.e. commented out protocols = pop3 login = imap login = pop3 default_mail_env = maildir:%h/.maildir client_workarounds = outlook-idle mbox_locks = fcntl auth = default auth_userdb = passwd auth_passdb = pam auth_user = root auth_verbose = yes Ideas on where to look next? [Dovecot] change POP3 default prompt

ppl for security reasons I'dont want that the default prompt for the POP3 be +OK Dovecot ready. don't want an attacker can guess my POP3 server easily, any idea?? want something like +OK mydomain.com ready. regards A

Hello Im using dovecot .99.14 with vpopmail 5.4.2 on debian sarge I changed the settings in dovecot.conf default_mail_env = maildir:/home/vpopmail/domains/%d/%u/Maildir (my mail is in /home/vpopmail/domains/phidelity.com/kris/Maildir) auth = vpopmail auth_mechanisms = plain auth_userdb = vpopmail auth_passdb = vpopmail auth_executable = /home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw auth_user = vpopmail and when I start up dovecot I get these errors Apr 4 22:43:01 mail dovecot: Dovecot starting up Apr 4 22:43:02 mail dovecot: Auth process died too early - shutting down Apr 4 22:43:02 mail dovecot: child 25759 (auth) returned error 11 can someone help me make sense of this? [Dovecot] FETCH order fix backport to stable from test66

I've had a go at back-porting Timo's recent fixes to the IMAP fetch command from 1.0-test66 to 1.0-stable. This seems to fix the problem with kmail, and Thunderbird seems to work fine without its RFC822.SIZE fix. It's a bit big for the body of this message, so it's attached. Hello, The installation of 1.0-test66 (still on FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE-p1 with openldap-2.1.27) solved the SIGSEV problem I posted here on March 30 but I still cannot authenticate correctly with ldap. logs report "ldap(dovetest,127.0.0.1): No password in reply" and my client gets a "NO Temporary authentication failure." Obviously the attr_names array of the passdb_ldap_connection struct is valid until the preinit function but has been corrupted when we're at the passdb_init function. [Dovecot] Nested folders

I would like to have nested folders that users could create from their MUA. The problem is that I cannot create sub folders either through the MUA or by hand on the server side. I can make folders that are not the subfolder of anything. I have an Inbox, Mailing Lists, Spam, Trash, etc. But I cannot create subfolders of these. For example, I would like a subfolder under Mailing Lists for each Mailing list that I have subscribed. I am using Postfix that delivers directly to procmail which puts mails into Maildir style mail boxes in each users home directory. I am using the dovecot-0.99.13-4.FC2 rpm if that helps. I am sure that there would be some information about this somewhere, but I haven't found it in the mailing lists or googling around. The only information I have been able to find is that dovecot reportedly supports this. Thanks, Mike
