[Dovecot] Dovecot-1.0-test32 fails with assertion

Hello, dovecot-1.0-test32 continuously fails on one of our customers mboxes with the following error: Sep 11 16:27:15 web dovecot: POP3(xxxxxxxxxxxxx.de1): file mbox-sync-rewrite.c: line 360 (mbox_sync_read_and_move): assertion failed: (need_space == -mails[idx].space) About 200 other mboxes are working perfectly on the same server. Where should I start looking for the cause of this? Regards, Martin

[Dovecot] Errors with NFS root filesystem?

Hey all, I've been testing out Dovecot, and it works nicely. However, when I tried to roll it to my production server, I'm getting the following error: Sep 10 17:14:22 tungsten imap-login: opendir(".") failed when trying to get list of authentication servers: Stale NFS file handle Any ideas on what I can do for this? I am running on a NFS root filesystem on the production server, so that's likely where this error is coming from. [Dovecot] pop/imap & smtp auth installation with just one userdb

Hi First of all thanks to the authors of dovecot. It's a pleasure to work with it. I would like to ask, if somebody has an idea about how I can combine all mailusers (dovecot pop/imap & sendmail smtp) into one db, given that I'd like to use sasl with CRAM-MD5 as authentication mechanism to ensure security. The idea behind my question is, that it is easier to administer all mail users, which in my case are mostly non-interactive users, into one db, instead of creating native unix accounts for them. I run FC2, with procmailrc setting maildir, but it seems when the system is busy or something, my mail is still put into mbox ...

[Dovecot] blank line at the top of mbox

I am having this same problem. We are running on a Solaris 8 server and Dovecot puts a blank line at the top of the mailbox and can no longer process until the line is deleted. Any idea how to fix this? Brad Allen IS EMS Projects and Planning

ok, so, dovecot 0.99.11, Solaris 9. i have: auth_userdb = passwd auth_passdb = shadow in my dovecot.conf, which gets me logged into dovecot in the first place, but then i get: Sep 9 09:52:41 ford.4amlunch.net imap-login: [ID 457029 mail.info] Internal login failure: wonko [10.0.1.6] in /var/log/syslog how do i track down exactly what the problem is so i can fix it? i would love to add SSL to my imap service, and don't care to mess with cyrus seeing how dovecot seems to be so nice. thanks!! -brian -- "The cats tend to administer themselves, and contrary to the expected facts, the house and everything in it was installed for their benefit." -- Nic Clews

[Dovecot] Problem with mysql...

Hello, I am trying to run dovecot on my Linux. I am using an exim 3.30 as the MTA with vmail-sql virtual users. I have installed latest dovecot release and ran through the config file. Some options seemed unclear to me, but generally I think it is OK. The problem is, that MySQL authentication does not work. It even does not try to authenticate! Dovecot connects correctly with MySQL database, but then no activity is shown in MySQL logs - but when I try to login manually with the telnet, i get: [root@mainframe root]# telnet localhost 143 Trying 127.0.0.1.143... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. * OK dovecot ready. 1 login [my_email] [my_password] 1 NO Authentication failed. Maybe I am doing something wrong? I have spent two days with this problem, even modifying source files could not help me localize the source of my troubles :( Here are the important (I think) entries from /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf: ------- # Authentication process name. auth = default # Space separated list of wanted authentication mechanisms: # plain digest-md5 anonymous auth_mechanisms = plain auth_userdb = mysql /etc/dovecot/dovecot-mysql.conf auth_passdb = mysql /etc/dovecot/dovecot-mysql.conf ------- Any suggestions?
