Speaking of repositories... Debian "buster" (future version 10) has for some time been "stage 1 frozen" (if I have the terminology right) and quite usable. Perhaps it's starting to make sense to make a repo / start producing builds? -- Kostya Vasilyev kman(a)fastmail.com

Reprocess mail through sieve?

is there a way to process a mailbox through an existing sieve script as it the mail was being delivered anew? I’ve cleaned up a lot of my list-sorting scripts and I would like to process a bunch of mail again so it gets sorted properly. If I can do this could I also do it for a specific date range? For example, let’s say io want to reprocess all the messages that are in “Archive” from between 20190501 and 20190630? -- Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Dovecot and Solr on the same server or on different

Hi. what would you suggest? What are the pros and cons for having dovecot and Solr on the same or different hots? I have about 800 accounts, some millions of mails and about 2 TB of zipped mails. From the recent experiences regarding maintenance I’d prefer different hosts for each. Thanks for suggestions and feedback . Götz

Hi I have a question about tunning dovecot-2.2.36.x Mail was stared in storage via nfs in MAILDIR via /home/us/username(a)domain.ltd/MAILDIR/ I use additionally local dovecot_indexes via SSD disk (/var/dovecot_indexes%h) A few clients have 25K and more e-mail I thinking about use solr like: fts = solr fts_solr = debug url=http://IP:8983/solr/ (solr in external machine) Does it make sense ? use dovecot_indexes and fts ? What is the difference in performance?

Email encryption and key protection

I was reading through Dovecot mail-crypt plugin documentation and I'm wondering what is the benefit of turning the encryption on if private and public keys are both stored on the server? What are the benefits and how the key can be protected (apart from file permissions). Cheers, Chris

Percent character in mail_crypt_private_password not possible

Hello, I am using the mail_crypt plugin with Dovecot 2.3 and have issues trying to use a mail crypt private password which contains a percent "%" character as you can see below: $ doveadm -o plugin/mail_crypt_private_password=SomethingWith\%Percent mailbox cryptokey generate -u email(a)domain.tld -URf doveadm(email(a)domain.tld): Error: Failed to expand plugin setting mail_crypt_private_password = 'SomethingWith%Percent': Unknown variable '%P' Note here that the percent is escaped with a backslash "\%" in order for the shell not to process it. mail_crypt: multiple keypairs

Hello, I am testing mail_crypt plugin with per account encryption and wanted to generate a new keypair for an account but noticed that I now end up with 2 keypairs where one is active and the other inactive as you can see below: $ doveadm mailbox cryptokey list -u email(a)domain.tld -U Folder Active Public ID yes 7b140b4f3d6d68eed2c59259ac5e6f6a280dc82990292dc415b4100d6c797f67 no 1c1dd1c955757da7c19f1eeb6d6c4d0d66e6355baa2d844bc2623052e1aa2f91 Does this mean now that all existing emails get encrypted with both keypairs? or does this mean only the active keypair is used to encrypt new emails? Is it possible to delete the inactive keypair? if yes how? Regards, Mabi

fts_lucene

Hi everybody... I've inherited 2 servers with dovecot and fts_lucene enabled, which I plan to switch to fts-solr instead. My plan is to disable lucene in dovecot.conf, delete all cache associated files, and start configuring the fts plugin from scratch. I need to make sure that I don't mess up things pretty bad and delete the correct files. Are those to be deleted all dovecot.index* files located in the Maildir folder? Is there anything else I should be aware of? Thanks so much in advance for your kind help! Ignacio
