# 2.2.13: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 4.9.25 i686 Gentoo Base System release 2.2 # pidgeonhole v0.4.3 # Thunderbird 3.0.4 impact ------ Emails, for which the filter applies, gets copied to the desired folder, but get kept in the inbox with deleted flag (in Roundcube you see them grayed out a bit, in Thunderbird they are not shown at all). When the incoming email is from an internal mailing list (mailman), beginning with the user with the buggy Thunderbird all following emails of the internal users are flagged as deleted, but only if the user has a sieve file in their directory - no matter whether it is active or not. After activating detailed logging the user with the "problematic" filter was found quickly. The error is reproducible: - install old Thunderbird version - create filter - write an email, which triggers the filter -> email is flagged deleted but does not get deleted Though, the user does not have a sieve file on our server, the filtering happened in the very same second when the email was delivered to the other colleagues. Both Thunderbird and Pidgeonhole are outdated, so I am unsure if you are even interested in this bug report. Fix --- I made the user to update his Thunderbird version -> no more problems. is a self signed certificate always invalid the first time?

So i’m using dovecot, and i created a self signed certificate with mkcert.sh based on dovecot-openssl.cnf. The name in there matches my mail server. The first time it connects in mac mail however, it says the certificate is invalid and another server might pretend to be me etc. I then have the option of trusting it. Is this normal behaviour? Will it always be invalid if it’s not signed by a third party? Thank you.

Dovecot mail_location for fedora

What is the syntax for dovecot mail_location when postfix delivers mail to /var/spool/mail/? These are the old unix style mbox, one file per user. Not setting mail_location in 10-mail.conf results in Auto not finding it. mbox: /var/spool/mail/%u said mbox root directory can't be a file. mbox: /var/spool/mail/ tries to make Sent and Deleted Folders, etc. maildir: /var/spool/mail/ closes the connection. I am using Outlook 2016 and Thunderbird are two imap clients I am trying. For Dovecot, 2.2.31 is the version. Postfix is version 3.2.2 and seems to be working. A vanilla Fedora 26 is the OS

I'm not sure how you have set up your clustered service, but why do your nodes have to go offline? If these other nodes are using an older certificate, it should still work as the previous/renewed certificate usually have overlapping active begin/expiration dates. Hello Dovecot users, Here's a release candidate for a quick Pigeonhole release, mostly containing fixes. One fix addresses a problem caused by the previous release. Changelog v0.4.20: + Made the retention period for redirect duplicate identifiers configurable. For accounts that perform many redirects, the lda-dupes database could grow to impractical sizes. Changed the default retention period from 24 to 12 hours. - sieve-filter: Fixed memory leak: forgot to clean up script binary at end of execution. Normally, this would merely be an inconsequential memory leak. However, when the script comes from an LDAP storage, this would cause io leak warnings. - managesieve-login: Fixed handling of AUTHENTICATE command. A second authenticate command would be parsed wrong. This problem was caused by changes in the previous release. - LDA Sieve plugin: Fixed minor memory leak caused by not cleaning up the sieve_discard script. I've been playing with weakforced, so it fills in the 'fail2ban across a cluster' niche (not to mention RBLs). It seems to work well, once you've actually read the docs :) I was curious if anyone had played with it and was *very* curious if anyone was using it in high traffic production. Getting things to 'work' versus getting them to work *and* handle a couple hundred dovecot servers is a very wide margin. I realize this is not a weakforced mailing list (there doesn't appear to be one anyway), but the users here are some of the likeliest candidates for having tried it out. Mainly I'm curious if weakforced can handle serious concurrency and whether the cluster really works under load.

Ubuntu 16.04 dovecot-core requires deprecated ntpdate

I'm building a new Ubuntu 16.04 machine, including Dovecot. When I select the dovecot-core package in Synaptic, it also wants to install ntpdate. Problem: ntpdate has been replaced in Ubuntu with timedatectl. In fact, if ntpdate exists on the machine, ntpd will not work properly. I don't want to break ntpd. Now the dovecot-core package evidently requires ntpdate. I can't imagine why this dependency would exist. And I presume this dependency will prevent me from removing ntpdate after I install dovecot-core. Is the Debian package maintainer on the list? I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Can't recursively delete mailboxes

Hi, This appears to be some sort of dovecot bug. When I use the -r option to recursively delete a mailbox and sub-folders, it removes the sub-folders but not the inbox. It gives me the error below: doveadm mailbox delete -u denise(a)lifelinetechnique.com.au -r -s inbox doveadm(denise(a)lifelinetechnique.com.au): Error: Can't delete mailbox inbox: INBOX can't be deleted. Our user database is in ldap and I am using dovecot-ee v2:2.2.31.2-1. Could you please acknowledge that this is a bug or let me know the correct way of recursively deleting a mailbox as there is nothing in the man page about the -r option.
