Hello, In my current setup, I uses two mailservers to handle the users connections, and my emails are stored on a distant server using NFS (maildir architecture) Dovecot is both my IMAP server and the delivery agent (LMTP via postfix) To avoid indexing issues related to NFS, proxying is enabled both on IMAP and LMTP. But when a mail is sent to users that are shared between the servers, I got the subject mentionned error in the logs : Jan 25 09:05:12 mail01 postfix/lmtp[23934]: A92709300DB: to=< user_on_mail02(a)domain.com>, relay=mail01.domain.com[private/dovecot-lmtp], delay=0.07, delays=0.01/0/0/0.06, dsn=4.3.0, status=deferred (host mail01.domain.com[private/dovecot-lmtp] said: 451 4.3.0 < user_on_mail02(a)domain.com> Can't handle mixed proxy/non-proxy destinations (in reply to RCPT TO command)) >From what I saw, the mail is then put in the queue, and wait until the next time Postifx will browse the queue. The mail will then be correctly delivered on "mail02". However, the "queue_run_delay" postfix parameter is set to 900, which means that the mail will be delivered with a lag of 15 minutes. I was wondering if there was another way of handling this, for example by triggering an immediate queue lookup from postfix or forwarding a copy of the mail to the other server. Note that the postfix "queue_run_delay" was increased to 15min on purpose, so I cannot change that. I'm using dovecot 2.0.15 on Debian Squeeze, kernel 2.6.32-5-amd64. Thanks, Alexis

[Dovecot] Issues w/ Apple devices after migration to dovecot

Hi guys. Recently we've moved our old (and I mean _really_ old) mailserver to a new hardware. Since I had quite some time on my hands, I decided to switch from courier to dovecot. Transition went pretty smoothly and the users experienced just a few hours' blackout. Only trouble now is that, after re-configuring some IOS handsets and tablets, not all messages are displayed correctly. For example, I had a long existing mailbox (roughly 1600 emails in INBOX and about a dozen other folders) that showed up perfectly on my iphone. Now it's been synced to the new dovecot server via imap and a whole month of messages seems to be missing. I checked on the server, via webmail and with outlook and everything is where it should be. The problem shows up on Apple devices (same thing happened on a couple of ipads). I haven't tried rebuilding the index or wiping out a phone to see if that resolves the problem, but before I do that I'd like to know if anyone experienced the same issue and how they fixed it Thanks! Hi I use dovecot on CentOS. It was installed and configured by some other person who doesn't work here anymore. I am trying to renew ssl. But the command works fine and restarts the dovecot. But the license shows the same old expiry. Can you please help me with the same. When I type in dovecot --version, I get command not found. Please guide me! Regards, -- Deepa Malleeswaran

[Dovecot] movming mail out of alt storage

I moved some mail into the alt storage: doveadm altmove -u johnd(a)example.com seen savedbefore 1w and now I want to move it back to the regular INBOX, but I can't see how I can do that with either 'altmove' or 'mailbox move'. thanks! micah --

Maybe I don't understand the subtlety of your question, but are you trying to disambiguate between a mounted filesytem and a failed mount that presents the underlying filesystem (which looks like an uninitilized index directory)? Couldn't you write some cookie file "/mount/.../dovecot-data-root/.dovemount", whose existence will tell you whether the FS is mounted without trying to find the mount root. Hello In MBOX format would it be possible with dovecot 2 to have two machines one containing the INBOX and the other containing IMAP folders. Of course this need a frontend but would it be possible ? thanks

[Dovecot] Director to keep redirecting users to the same server even after all sessions closed?

Hi there, Just wondering how easy it would be to make the director continue to send a user to the same server (assuming it's still in the pool) for say 90 seconds after they have last been active (ie lmtp or pop/imap)? Basically we are working in quite a heavily cached environment so it takes perhaps 60-90 seconds for our imap servers to properly flush to our network storage meaning if the user got put on a different server in that time we would see some issues. Presently we have fixed proxying, but I'd really like to use the director if possible to allow us to more easily add & remove servers. Mark

[Dovecot] UID 0 problem while issuing an UID THREAD REFS command

Hi: This is my first message to this list, so pleased to meet you all. Using dovecot 2.0.17 from packages at xi.rename-it.nl on a Debian "Squeeze" i686. Mail storage is a local ext3 partition (I attached the output of dovecot -n to this message). I'm having problems on a maildir due to dovecot returning an UID 0 to an UID THREAD REFS command: in <== TAG5 UID THREAD REFS us-ascii SINCE 18-Jul-2011 out <== * THREAD (0)(51 52)(53)(54 55 56)(57)(58)(59 60)(61) TAG5 OK Thread completed. The issuer is an atmail webmail that after the previous output will try an UID FETCH 0 that will fail with a "TAG6 BAD Error in IMAP command UID FETCH: Invalid uidset" message. I think that, as per a previous answer from Timo Sirainen*1, this should be considered a dovecot's bug, am I right? Anyway, what should I try to find why is this exactly happening?
