[Dovecot] . (dot) in maildir folder names

Hi. Uhm... yeah as the topic implies I want to have . (dots) in my folder names... Unfortunately dovecot's maildirmake hasn't a -f switch as the one from courier/maildrop, but that one in turn is buggy[0] and doesn't encode any characters at all. In principle, maildir++ should allow[1] having (encoded) dots in folder names,... but I don't quite understand how the encoding actually works, cause UTF-7 seems to be already the encoded (without padding and such)... but . is . in UTF-7 as well. Does dovecot support this? At least my mail clients (well I only tried Evolution so far which sucks in so many areas)... couldn't create it... but I guess it's rather a stupid client issue. Anyone knows how it would be encoded? Interestingly, and this might be actually an inssue in doveocot when I create maildirs with non-ASCII chars without encoding these, e.g. maildir/.München/ (instead of the correctly encoded (.M&APw-nchen) Dovecot seems to "export" these to the clients,... at least Evolution shows it in the list of subscribable folders (even correctly as "München")... but it doesn't allow me to actually subscribe to it. [Dovecot] dovecot v-2.0, postfix+mysql configuration issue.

Greetings Gentlemen, Im in the attempt of configuring a postfix mail server on RHEL6.2 with the said components in the subject. [Dovecot] OT: z-Push

Hi, just a short question: I have installed and configured z-Push to use BackendIMAP. On my iPhone I have created an account and I can see my mails. Also sending works. So far so good. Now the question: When I create a new folder i.e. Test under the root (/), then I get an error. And after resyncing the folder has been created not under /, but under /0/Test. Also I can not remove that folder over ActiveSync. Does somebody have z-Push fully working with Dovecot or is z-Push designed for Cyrus and only some features are working with Dovecot? [Dovecot] Dovecot proxy to Microsoft Exchange 2013

Hello, I am trying to do a proxy with dovecot to IMAP backend server that are using Microsoft Exchange 2013. I already did this with Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Microsoft Exchange 2010 and it works perfectly! But with Microsoft Exchange 2013 I can not perform LOGIN. The error log message is: /imap-login: Error: proxy(user(a)domain.com.br): Login for exchange2013.domain.com.br:143 timed out in state=4 (after 30 secs, local=x.x.x.x:59640)/ My troubleshoot was: - tcpdump on dovecot server side: I can see the commands sent/received by Microsoft Exchange. [Dovecot] Error: dict client sent broken reply

I've been mucking about, experimenting with the expire plugin and using a dictionary. I've got the iteration query working when I do a normal expunge using: doveadm expunge -A mailbox "INBOX.Trash" savedbefore 1w and expunging works as expected. However, I've got over 12,000 accounts on this server, so I was hoping using the expire plugin to could help out. I've configured the plugin, and things kinda work, except that somewhere between 3700 and 3800 users, I abort with this: doveadm(someuseraccount@somedomain): Error: dict client (/var/run/dovecot/dict) sent broken reply doveadm(someuseraccount@somedomain): Error: Dictionary iteration failed doveadm: Error: Failed to iterate through some users It consistently fails at the same user. If I delete that user from the expire database, then it appears to fail on the next user. I also see this in the logs: dovecot: dict: Error: dict client: COMMIT: Can't commit while iterating I've absolutely no idea where to go from here to troubleshoot this. [Dovecot] Wrong remote IP (rip) in mail.log using IMAP login

Dear list users While trying to secure our dovecot server with fail2ban I came across the following problem: We use dovecot (1.2.9, ubuntu package) behind a NAT, and failed login attempts are logged with our firewall as the remote ip. Example: Apr 15 08:36:26 mail dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (auth failed, 6 attempts): user=<xy>, method=PLAIN, rip=192.168.0.1, lip=192.168.0.3 Therefore I would ban 192.168.0.1 which means that I ban EVERY user. Funny thing is that POP3 login attempts are logged correctly: Apr 13 11:05:50 mail dovecot: pop3-login: Disconnected (auth failed, 1 attempts): user=<sgvyniwx>, method=PLAIN, rip=217.81.27.55, lip=192.168.0.3 Any ideas how to change this?
