[Dovecot] Urgent problem: Dovecot fetches the same mails multiple times per POP

I have a problem since a couple of hours: I manage several mboxes on a virtual server using Dovecot (over POP3). Until a few hours ago, it worked well, but since 11:50, the e-mail clients which access Dovecot's mailboxes, receive all e-mails new each time the mailbox is queried. For example: 15:40 fetches 22 new mails 15:41 fetches the same 22 mails again as new 15:42 fetches the same 22 mails again as new etc. Dovecot version is 1.0.15 on Debian Lenny. How can I fix this? How can I diagnose what's wrong? The mailbox files themselves seem ok, no dupe messages. Shouldn't it be 0/xxxxx the next time when the mails are not kept on the server? Apparently Dovecot does not manage to remove the mails form the mbox, although the email client tells it so (=> del=24/24) Is this the problem? How can I check this? I am very thankful for any hints! Hi, How to tune the size of each "m.xxx" file in mdbox format , in order to optimize the ratio size/number of files ? (I can see for instance more than 100 000 files in one directory due to very large mailbox size) If such parameter exists, what is the typical value ? Thanks Joan

When i changed sendmail_path to original sednmail binary it's working and vacation is sent, but i can see some errors from sendmail. [Dovecot] CatchAll virtual user removes spamheaders

Hi all, I am having a small problem with a catch-all user I have setup in my Postfix/Dovecot setup. I am not 100% sure this is Dovecot related, but, logic tells me it is. I have a virtual user called @reinhold.dk setup to redirect to my main account, peter(a)reinhold.dk. If I send a spam mail (GTUBE) to peter(a)reinhold.dk, the mail is marked with Amavis x-headers as it should be. If I send the same mail to peterpeter(a)reinhold.dk, I can see in my maillog that the mail is PASSED SPAMMY, just as the first one, but when I check the mail, all amavis x-headers are missing. (Except one, X-Spam-Virus-Scanned:, which just informs me that the mail has passed through the scanner) Does anyone know if this is a Dovecot issue? (It seems so to me), and if so, any hints on how I can change this behaviour? [Dovecot] can not receive external emails

Hi, I am new to Dovecot. Recently I have got a new server running on Ubuntu Server 10.04 with Postfix, Dovecot (for IMAP) and Squirrelmail. During the test, I was able to send & receive emails internally, and can send emails externally. However, I got a problem when it comes to receiving emails externally. The emails I sent from yahoo never arrived to my local inbox. Anyway, I checked the mail.log and found the following dovecot: auth-worker(default): dovecot-auth: /usr/locallib/liblber-2.4.so.2" no version information available (required by dovecot-auth) dovecot: auth-worker(default): dovecot-auth: /usr/locallib/libldap_r-2.4.so.2" no version information available (required by dovecot-auth) dovecot: auth-worker(default): dovecot-auth: /usr/locallib/libldap-r-2.4.so.2" no version information available (required by /usr/lib/libpq.so.5) I was wondering if anyone might be kind to explain the above error messages and how to work around this so that it could send/receive emails coming from external mail server. [Dovecot] IMAP Clients can not see 3rd tier nested IMAP directories

I have a very bizarre problem that I hope someone can help me with. I am not sure if this is a Dovecot problem, or IMAP client problem. I recently used Transend's Migrator to move mail from Exchange 2007 to my Dovecot 1.0.7 server. The program seems to have moved the nested IMAP dirs properly as seen below in a directory listing of the maildir dir. The nested dirs have indexes, cur, new dirs as expected. However, when the account is viewed in Windows Thunderbird 3.1.6 or Outlook 2010 the 3rd tier dirs are not seen, nor can they be subscribed to. On a whim, I decided to try Apple Mail 4.3 to view the account and all the IMAP dirs can be seen and accessed as expected. Any idea what is going on? Is this somehow an IMAP client problem (bug) or an issue with Dovecot and these clients? Hi, I'm trying to migrate from Dovecot 1.2.16 to 2.0.7. Initially the mails were stored in Maildir format but I changed them to dbox using "fast Maildir migration" and some mails are still in the old maildir format.
