[Dovecot] Why dovecot does not want to read my acl file?

Hi, Simple Scenario: Shared namespace and a specific UNIX group should have access to it. In the log it claimes that it is not able to open the acl file what really can NOT be true: Dec 15 15:56:05 mail dovecot: IMAP(peter): acl vfile: no access to file /var/mail/shared/.Office/dovecot-acl I tried: * su peter: Access no problem! * ps aux: The process is running as peter * As you can see I have debugging code in my dovecot-imap-fix.sh which successfully prints out the content of the ACL file to /tmp/user-peter I can't image that, it seems as if it is not true. By the way: As soon as I change the mail_executable to /usr/local/sbin/dovecot-imap-fix.sh I get this message and have absolutely no clue why: # /etc/init.d/dovecot restart Restarting IMAP/POP3 mail server: dovecotid: dump-capability: No such user . # Which dump-capability? Which user? Does anybody have an idea what could be wrong here? Thank you very much, Luke

Hi all, I'm currently playing with a setup which might replace my current cyrus imapd one with dovecot. Currently I'm stuck with trying to file messages that got to the user "lists" to the public namespace' System folder (public/System) with sieve. [Dovecot] Dovecot 1.2.+

The Dovecot version is 1.2.8 and i am using an LDAP for a user database. The problem is following... i would like to use a quota dictionary backend from file rather than sql proxy for some reasons. Is it possible to get the full path for dovecot-quota file location from LDAP like from mail variable (/mailboxes/storage_01/domain.org/u/us/use/user/dbox/dovecot-quota)? /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf user_attrs = storageBase=home,mailMessageStore=mail=dbox:~/%$/dbox/,mailQuota=quota_rule=*:bytes=%$,mailQuotaMessageLimit=quota_rule2=*:messages=%$ Also is it also possible the same for sieve location? Previously this was done only when quota plugin was loaded. It's required for zlib plugin and may be useful for other things too. + lazy-expunge: Support a single-namespace configuration. If a mailbox is deleted, its messages are merged with its old expunged messages (if there were any). + expire: Settings now support spaces in mailbox names by using quoted strings. - maildir: v1.2.7 and v1.2.8 caused assert-crashes in maildir_uidlist_records_drop_expunges() - maildir_copy_preserve_filename=yes could have caused crashes. - Maildir++ quota: % limits weren't updated when limits were read from maildirsize. - virtual: v1.2.8 didn't fully fix the "lots of mailboxes" bug - virtual: Fixed updating virtual mailbox based on flag changes. - fts-squat: Fixed searching multi-byte characters.

Hi, I setting up a Mail server for my company. I have installed Postfix, it is working fine. I have installed Dovecot IMAP Server, i want to know how to implement quotas for users mailbox. Hi Timo, the imap_client_workarounds are not always parsed. There was on situation, in which cmd->client->set->parsed_workarounds was set to WORKAROUND_TB_EXTRA_MAILBOX_SEP. Sorry, I can't remember what I have done. But when I try to delete a mailbox with Thunderbird imap_client_workarounds are not parsed: (gdb) print cmd->client->set->imap_client_workarounds $7 = 0x1422de0 "tb-extra-mailbox-sep" (gdb) print cmd->client->set->parsed_workarounds $8 = 0 And therefor the command 'x delete box_with_trailing_slash/' fails. [Dovecot] CRAM-MD5 in Python

Hi to all! I’m writing a python module (python+sqlalchemy) to manage user and domain configuration on my system (I hope to get a CLI tool, a Web app and even a native Mac app, via PyObjc, from my lib). I’m implementing password crypto, but I have some problem in generating CRAM-MD5 password, dovecot style. I’ve found an old discussion on this mailing list and a piece of Perl that works, but I need to implement it in Python; I’ve even read code (hmac-md5.c), but before start hard coding (hard from my POV at least, since I’ve never worked with crypto algorithms in a deep way), is there anyone that have had solved the problem or has any idea on how to approach it?
