Not quite sure where the docs are on Dovecot deliver. Went to the wiki and it left me confused. The docs there definitely need some work. Anyone have some examples to share?

[Dovecot] Help with mysql-dspam-plugin

Hello folks -- I'm using Debian etch and I've got Mysql 5.0, Dovecot 1.0rc15 and DSpam 3.6.8... I've downloaded the mysql-dspam-plugin code, and it builds without errors. But when trying to start Dovecot I get: Starting mail server: dovecotIEffective uid=65534, gid=65534 ILoading modules from directory: /usr/lib/dovecot/modules/imap Emodule /usr/lib/dovecot/modules/imap/lib_dspam.so: dlsym(dspam_init) failed: /usr/lib/dovecot/modules/imap/lib_dspam.so: undefined symbol: dspam_init Error: imap dump-capability process returned 89 Any help with how to fix this would be great! I'm not really a programmer so I'm not quite sure where to look... thanks!! Rob Klingsten

[Dovecot] Dovecot ignoring Quotas

Hi, i have installed the dovecot 1.0rc25 and everything is working well. I have connected it to a postgresql database. Now to my little problem: Postfix is delivering into a maildir folder with active maildirquota patches, and this is working well. The problem is only that dovecot is not recognizing the maildirquota file at all. I have configured it as in the documentation with Plugin { Quota=maildir } Anyone any idea ? maybe this is a bug ? I'm having a problem with dovecot-1.0-1.1.rc15.fc6 + LDAP + auth_bind_userdb. I have the following /etc/dovecot.conf: mail_location = maildir:/var/spool/mail/%u/ protocols = imap pop3 mail_log_prefix = "%Us(%u):%i:%h " first_valid_uid = 5001 first_valid_gid = 5001 protocol imap { } protocol pop3 { } protocol lda { postmaster_address = postmaster(a)example.com } auth_verbose = yes auth_debug = yes auth default { mechanisms = plain userdb ldap { args = /etc/dovecot-ldap.conf } passdb ldap { args = /etc/dovecot-ldap.conf } user = root } dict { } plugin { } and /etc/dovecot-ldap.conf: hosts = driveable.example.com base = dc=example,dc=com #dn = cn=Directory Manager #dnpass = password auth_bind_userdn = uid=%u, ou=People, dc=example, dc=com uris = ldap://127.0.0.1 user_attrs = mail user_filter = uid=%u user_global_uid = 5001 user_global_gid = 5001 pass_filter = uid=%u The problem is that if we have an entry in LDAP, User Name, with the uid UName, postfix stores the users mail in /var/spool/mail/UName If I log into dovecot using uname (LDAP uid isn't case sensitive) than dovecot tries to look in /var/spool/mail/uname, similarly if I log in with unAME dovecot will look in /var/spool/unAME. However, if instead of using auth_bind_userdn = uid=%u, ou=People, dc=example, dc=com I bind with dn = cn=Directory Manager dnpass = password than it correctly looks in /var/spool/UName regardless of the case used when logging in. It seems like when I log in with auth_bind_userdn %u is being left as the value I logged in with rather than being reloaded from LDAP. I was wondering if I have made some mistake in the configuration files to cause this behaviour or if something else is going on? thanks, Aaron

[Dovecot] automaticly move expunded emails to trash Folder

Hi I try to migrate from courier to Dovecot. Is there a way to get the same behaviour of Courier-imap with dovecot, about expunged emails ? I though about using the Lazy-Expunge plugin. The problem with this plugin is the following: messages are moved and set to be deleted in the Trash Folder. I would like they weren't set to be deleted. Is there a way to mitigate the behaviour of this plugin, or is there another plugin having this task in charge ? Thanks Wilfried BARNAVON

[Dovecot] Struggle with Postfix/Dovecot-auth and SASL

Hi List, I just updated an old sendmail installation to a modern postfix/dovecot system with mysql backend. Everything works fine but SMTP-AUTH fails with some clients. The problem is, that with PLAIN (old) clients send the base64 coded form: USERNAME\0USERNAME\0PASSWORD which, as i understand dovecot interprets as MASTERUSER\0USERNAME\PASSWORD. New clients send \0USERNAME\0PASSWORD which works fine. I don`t like to use masterusers, because then everyone would be able to log in as someone else. When i don`t have a passdb with master=yes in my dovecot.conf, Dovecot complains auth(default): passdb(XXXX(a)YYY.TLD,master): Attempted master login with no master passdbs If i create a passdb with contains everyone, everyone may look into other mailboxes. No good idea. I can`t change the old clients, but for now, i don`t know, what i am doing wrong or how to correct it. No real HowTo for my setup on the net, it seems that everyone uses cyrus-sasl. May anybody help, because i don`t like to switch my setup or use 2 auth daemons. I finally and happly discarded Postfix Cyrus SASL authentication and replaced it with Dovecot socket listen {client{}} Am I missing something, or Dovecot does not log the authentication events? Ciao, luigi -- / +--[Luigi Rosa]-- \ Chi non beve birra ha torto.
