Hello! I have very strange problem with dovecot and thunderbird while deleting messages. The problem is that they are not actually deleted from storage filesystem and if I later run mutt I can perfectly see them, though marked with 'D', so mutt ask to delete them on exit and this time they dissapear from filesystem. I enabled in thunderbird 'remove it iimediately' feature, but this doesn't help. When I delete message from mutt it removed from filesystem just fine. IMAP server: OS: FreeBSD 6.1p2 dovecot: dovecot-1.0.b9 Client: OS: Debian sarge Thunderbird: thunderbird 1.5.0.4 (from backports.org) Any suggestions ?

[Dovecot] Squirrel mail search tool fails

When I do a search in squirrelmail, it will start giving several results, but then fails. [Dovecot] Dovecot with Imp problems

Hi guys, I've run into a strange problem using beta 8 and beta 9 when using the latest version of Horde/IMP Through IMP, I can see that there are messages in the maildir on the sidemenu(popup menu) but the emails don't show in my actual inbox. I thought this was an IMP problem, but then I downgraded to dovecot 99 series RPM and this resolved the problem. I was seeing the following error in my logs, when I tried to log into a mailbox through IMP. Hello, I recently converted my 300+ email user system over to Dovecot. It is working fantastically, except for UID sync errors. I read everything I could find and only saw others with those problems in version 0.99 below. My log shows errors like this all day long for pretty much all users: dovecot: Jun 25 19:12:46 Error: POP3(nmichel): Maildir /home/rtb/users/nmichel/.Maildir sync: UID < next_uid (42 < 43, file = msg.oP8c:2,) dovecot: Jun 25 19:25:59 Error: IMAP(lcrowe): Maildir /home/dentist/users/lcrowe/.Maildir sync: UID inserted in the middle of mailbox (70 > 4, file = msg.AM81:2,) When this happens, IMAP and POP3 drop the connections sending errors to their clients. I use squirrelmail over IMAP and some new emails never appear until I delete the index files. I have tried deleting indexes, and the problem continued. I went from dovecot-1.0.beta3 to dovecot-1.0.beta9 and still happens. The only way it doesn't happen is when I append the INDEX=MEMORY trick as in: default_mail_env = maildir:~/.Maildir:INDEX=MEMORY but then it's all so slow for large mailboxes, it's painful. Here are some of my specs: Linux kernel 2.6.15 Maildir Auth from /etc/shadow Users from /etc/passwd Does anyone have any hints on where I should start? Thanks in advance. I love Dovecot. [Dovecot] OE pop3 > imap subfolder migration?

Hello. This isn't actually a dovecot question, but I'm running in clienys servers dovecot mostly as pop3 server and now started to migrate some servers to imap. But as clients uses Outlook Express how to transfer their pop3 settings and mailboxes to imap?. Making a new mail account for imap is easy, and drag & drop the default folders (inbox, outbox etc) messages to imap accounts default folders is easy, but what about subfolders? Some users have hundreds subfolders and creating them & transfering messages by hand is a pain. So have anyone a better and faster solution how to migrate Outlook Express pop3 account to the imap account, preserving the same folders, rules etc. -- Sysadmin

I've included a patch file for quota-fs.c <sys/quota.h> on RHEL 3 sets _LINUX_QUOTA_VERSION to 1 if it's not defined by default. I copied <sys/quota.h> to ./sysquota.h and edited it to set _LINUX_QUOTA_VERSION to 2 if not defined since that's the version i'm using on my machine. I don't know if that's necessarily appropriate so I'm not including that file. (I then modified quota-fs.h to load "sysquota.h" instead of <sys/quota.h>) I was able to get it to compile and properly show the quota information now. I'd like to do more testing (like seeing if explicitly setting _LINUX_QUOTA_VERSION to 2 is really necesssary) but my one and only RHEL 3 machine is my production mail server, so I can't really do that. Anyways, since I figured out the problem and fixed it for myself, I thought I would share :) Timo, perhaps if you have the time to look at the patch and if the modifications to the quota.h file are necessary or not and include it into the next CVS update, I'm sure people would appreciate it. Freebsd dovecot --version 1.0.beta9 In /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf #grep -i ssl /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf |egrep -v '^#' ssl_disable = no ssl_cert_file = /etc/mail/certs/server.crt ssl_key_file = /etc/mail/certs/server.key ssl_parameters_regenerate = 24 When I try to be connected to imaps I get message in maillog: Jun 24 04:00:18 alife dovecot: imap-login: Waiting for SSL parameter file /usr/local/etc/dovecot-ssl-parameters.dat Also I deleted a file /usr/local/etc/dovecot-ssl-parameters.dat and reboot system. And file rebuild but still ssl doesn't work. I try # /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/ssl-build-param /usr/local/etc/dovecot-ssl-parameters.dat SSL parameters regeneration completed And ssl doesn't work and I still get message Waiting for SSL parameter file /usr/local/etc/dovecot-ssl-parameters.dat I do not know what to do. I have another server with 1.0.beta8 and ssl work fine.

[Dovecot] escaping in sqlite

Hi Timo&all, a recent change in the sql drivers introduced escaping, but sqlite is a different in this aspect: You cannot escape with a backslash, the only character that needs escaping is the quoting character itself (by doubling it, as the SQL standard says). As the escaping function does not know which quote character is used, one should only use the single tick ' (again, as the SQL standard says) and the escaping function double any single quote in the string. Hi, today I have built dovecot from cvs sources, and upgraded server from beta-7 to this newer version. Then i got problems with opening INBOX using thunderbird 1.5.0.2.
