Hi, I just added an "archive" mbox namespace to my dovecot setup, so that people can put their old mail into a slightly more inode-friendly box. Hi. Inetd mode is broken as of cvs-20051111 After logging in on POP3 port imap binary is started. Seems like somehow master process receives wrong protocol id and thus starts wrong binary. -- ./lxnt

[Dovecot] problem with content-length and mbox parsing

The stars aligned recently such that I sent someone a message that contained a line similar to this in the message body: From glenn(a)usg.edu Thu Jun 20 16:48:11 2002 (Except that there wasn't that space character *before* the From; I've added it here to avoid any problems with this message). Dovecot wrote a copy of the message in my "sent mail" folder under the direction of my imap client. But when I went back to *read* that folder (still through Dovecot), it was broken and was presented as two corrupted mail messages. [Dovecot] IMAP limitation

I was trying to delete a LOT of email messages in one shot from Thunderbird. I selected everything in a folder (>10,000) and then hit DELETE. I received an IMAP error. It clearly implied a limitation to just how many UIDS I can submit on an IMAP request at a time. Is this a limitation of dovecot? (I'm assuming it is). I can work around this, I think, because I haven't found a limitation to retrieving a list of email message UIDS as yet. I could thereby send splices or chunks of that list of UIDS to delete. I ran into this while trying to do a variety of obscene things in my attempts to develop a web mail application. Because of the number of strange tests I have, I don't really "blame" anything since I'm not sure that anyone really expects to delete 10,000 messages at one command.

[Dovecot] Error: Mailbox isn't a valid mbox file

Hello all, I have successfully migrated from pop3d to dovecot. Now, I am having users call in unable to pop (prompted with a user/pass login). OE shows this in the error box: Mailbox isn't a valid mbox file. I am able to log into the box using Webmail. Any suggestions? Cliff

Hello i'm using dovecot to host over 5000 email accounts on my server, and sometimes when logging in to an account with the correct login/password it raise an error like this : Error indexing mbox file /var/mail/username: LF not found where expected It becomes more and more frequent. does anybody have a solution for this ?

[Dovecot] TLS negotiation from client fails after openssl upgrade

Is anyone using dovecot on Fedora fc5-devel? I had to rebuild my rpm of alpha4 due to dependencies when I pulled in openssl-0.9.8a (with a whole bunch of other updates). Now when I start my mail client (balsa) it tells me it "Cannot connect to the server: TLS negotiation failed". Dovecot wrote in maillog: "imap-login: Disconnected: rip=1.2.3.4, lip=1.2.3.4, TLS". Does anyone else see that? Can anyone advise me how to debug this? Thanks, Willem Riede.

[Dovecot] Dovecot, Outlook Express and new accounts

I have come across a strange situation, involving new accounts. I am running Dovecot 0.99.10-5 on Fedora Core 2. Dovecot is configured to use pam for authentication, and the dovecot pam service is configured to use pam_mkhomedir. When an account is created and the user logs in through SquirrelMail, there is no problem. The standard folders are available - Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items and Trash. When logging in through Outlook Express first, it gives the following error:- The server did not respond to this IMAP command before the connection was terminated. [Dovecot] Asserion Failure in Current CVS

Just installed the version from CVS as of Oct. 27. I noticed three problems quite quickly: Still seeing "(imap) killed with signal 14" My INBOX closed with "access error" after reading it for a bit. There's nothing in the logs or anything, but this hasn't happened for quite a while now. There where quite a lot of incoming messages at the time and I was marking messages as deleted using pine. After reverting to the last version of dovecot that I was using and restarting pine, it opened quickly (no reindexing) and the deleted emails where marked as deleted. [Dovecot] Folders mysterously deleted

Using alpha 3 on Solaris 9. One of our users reported all folders except his inbox were missing. I went to the server and looked at the logs and could find no indication that a sysadmin had logged in and deleted the folders. Also found no indication of anything unusual in the dovecot log file. Has anybody seen a situation where dovecot deleted folders?
