[Dovecot] Wrong dates in Outlook

Hello, We're migrating from Ipswitch Imail to Dovecot. There seems to be a problem with Outlook after converting the emails with mb2md and whole bunch of perl scripts to correct all the idiotic mistakes that Imail has made. Outlook will display the date and time of the conversion as the date of the message, rather than using the Date: header. The same does not occur in Thunderbird or Horde/IMP. Any ideas? Alex

Setup: Solaris 9, compiled with gcc 4.0.1, mbox format, configured like so: VERSION=test80 CC=gcc CFLAGS="-g -O" CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/openssl/include LDFLAGS=-L/opt/openssl/lib \ ./configure --prefix=/opt/dovecot.$VERSION --with-ssl=openssl \ --with-ssldir=/opt/openssl/ssl --with-rawlog --enable-debug > configure.out Still seeing occasional assert messages in the syslog: IMAP(username): file mbox-sync-update.c: line 442 (mbox_sync_update_header_from): assertion failed: (ctx->mail.uid == 0 || ctx->mail.uid_broken || ctx->mail.uid == mail->uid) How do I give you useful debug info? Run the offending mailbox thru mboxcrypt.pl, try to reproduce with the mailbox, send the mailbox in? Otherwise test-80 is working great... Jeff Earickson Colby College

hi, I've just upgraded our dovecot installation to the most recent debian package (0.99.20050712) and now I'm running into some weird problems. Virtual (LDAP based) users cannot login anymore, the logfile shows this: -------CUT------- dovecot: Aug 02 12:34:25 Error: Logins with UID 200 (user some.user) not permitted (see first_valid_uid in config file) -------CUT------- yet /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf has this for the mentioned parameter: first_valid_uid = 1 first_valid_gid = 1 "regular" users can login however ... any ideas? udo -- bestsolution.at EDV Systemhaus GmbH http://www.bestsolution.at

[Dovecot] postfix+dovecot+sieve?

Quick newbie question... is anybody using postfix+dovecot+sieve? Postfix doesn't natively support Sieve, and neither does Dovecot, so I'm not quite sure how to simply add Sieve to my configuration. Thanks in advance... - Jon

[Dovecot] Dovecot crashing

Hi all, 1.0-test76 is crashing about every two weeks. Got this in the log file: pid 76217 (dovecot-auth), uid 0: exited on signal 6 (core dumped) pid 61724 (dovecot-auth), uid 0: exited on signal 6 (core dumped) pid 52961 (dovecot-auth), uid 0: exited on signal 6 (core dumped) pid 81257 (dovecot-auth), uid 0: exited on signal 6 (core dumped) Also a bunch of these around the same time... arplookup 123.456.227.254 failed: host is not on local network arplookup 123.456.227.254 failed: host is not on local network arplookup 123.456.227.254 failed: host is not on local network arplookup 123.456.227.254 failed: host is not on local network arplookup 123.456.227.254 failed: host is not on local network (I changed the first two octets). Anyway, it seems that dovecot is crashing. A simple restart brings it back up. Its odd that it would work for a while and then crash, is there some kind of remote exploit causing it to crash? It says core dumped, but I'm not sure where it would put the core. Also, all of our stuff is LDAP. We dont talk to local passwd files at all. Is there a way I can run the dovecot-auth process as non root? I know there's an option in the config but i tried it and it did not seem to want to restart (the process). Thanks, Matt

I've just managed to get dovecot to install on one of our FreeBSD 5.4 servers, using the ports collection. I've set up dovecot to query the mysql database I'm using, and the query I'm using is: SELECT clear AS password FROM users LEFT JOIN domains ON domains.domain_id = users.domain_id WHERE domain="%d" AND username="%d" AND users.enabled = 1 AND domains.enabled = 1 If I perform this query by hand, I get a single row with the field 'password' which contains the password I'm using the perform my intial test. However, dovecot won't authenticate, and returns this error: dovecot-auth: mysql(justin(a)redwiredesign.co.uk): Password mismatch Is there a way that I can see how dovecot's doing the comparison? I have set the following in dovecot.conf: auth_verbose = yes auth_debug = yes I've read the wiki on raw logging, but I don't know: (a) how to enable this through the port (b) whether this is even applicable as apparently all it logs is the imap traffic.
