Hello, The following errors are constantly popping up for 2 accounts. I can't get it fixed, I did doveadm backup to another account, the same happens in the new account. I did doveadm force-resync, the problem persists. Install locks up my server

Ever since 2.26 I haven't been able to upgrade. In fact the install locks up my server. I get into and infinite recursive loop where the config-guess program calls itself until the server locks up from overload. I'm running Centos 6 under OpenVZ. What am I missing? /var/run/dovecot permission issues

I have an issue that surfaced when I tried to start using the new metrics service, but it looks like it may be a more generic issue. When I enabled stats and started dovecot, I got the following error in the log: Error: stats: open(/var/run/dovecot/stats-mail) failed: Permission denied /var/run/dovecot/stats-mail did not exist. /var/run/dovecot/ existed, owned by root, which apparently was preventing dovecot from creating stats-mail. On advice from another list subscriber, I changed the ownership of /var/run/dovecot to the dovecot user. This doesn’t help. Apparently /var/run/dovecot is deleted by dovecot when it shuts down, and recreated, with root ownership, when it restarts. stats-mail is created, with root ownership. Is there something I need to change to prevent dovecot from creating this directory owned by root? Filter of old Thunderbird installation interferes with lmtp/ Mail delivery / sieve

When the incoming email is from an internal mailing list (mailman), beginning with the user with the buggy Thunderbird all following emails of the internal users are flagged as deleted, but only if the user has a sieve file in their directory - no matter whether it is active or not. After activating detailed logging the user with the "problematic" filter was found quickly. The error is reproducible: - install old Thunderbird version - create filter - write an email, which triggers the filter -> email is flagged deleted but does not get deleted Though, the user does not have a sieve file on our server, the filtering happened in the very same second when the email was delivered to the other colleagues. Both Thunderbird and Pidgeonhole are outdated, so I am unsure if you are even interested in this bug report. Fix --- I made the user to update his Thunderbird version -> no more problems. So i’m using dovecot, and i created a self signed certificate with mkcert.sh based on dovecot-openssl.cnf. The name in there matches my mail server. The first time it connects in mac mail however, it says the certificate is invalid and another server might pretend to be me etc. I then have the option of trusting it. Is this normal behaviour? Will it always be invalid if it’s not signed by a third party? Thank you.

Dovecot mail_location for fedora

What is the syntax for dovecot mail_location when postfix delivers mail to /var/spool/mail/? These are the old unix style mbox, one file per user. Not setting mail_location in 10-mail.conf results in Auto not finding it. mbox: /var/spool/mail/%u said mbox root directory can't be a file. mbox: /var/spool/mail/ tries to make Sent and Deleted Folders, etc. maildir: /var/spool/mail/ closes the connection. I am using Outlook 2016 and Thunderbird are two imap clients I am trying. For Dovecot, 2.2.31 is the version. Postfix is version 3.2.2 and seems to be working. A vanilla Fedora 26 is the OS

If these other nodes are using an older certificate, it should still work as the previous/renewed certificate usually have overlapping active begin/expiration dates. Hello Dovecot users, Here's a release candidate for a quick Pigeonhole release, mostly containing fixes. One fix addresses a problem caused by the previous release. Changelog v0.4.20: + Made the retention period for redirect duplicate identifiers configurable. For accounts that perform many redirects, the lda-dupes database could grow to impractical sizes. Changed the default retention period from 24 to 12 hours. - sieve-filter: Fixed memory leak: forgot to clean up script binary at end of execution. Normally, this would merely be an inconsequential memory leak. However, when the script comes from an LDAP storage, this would cause io leak warnings. - managesieve-login: Fixed handling of AUTHENTICATE command. A second authenticate command would be parsed wrong. This problem was caused by changes in the previous release. - LDA Sieve plugin: Fixed minor memory leak caused by not cleaning up the sieve_discard script.
