[Dovecot] default mail quota when using per user quota

Hello, using dovecot 2.1 and per user mail quota via ldap is there a way to have a default quota which gets used, if the "quota" field in ldap is not set? I tried with: plugin { quota = maildir:User quota quota_rule = *:storage=3G } userdb { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-ldap.conf driver = ldap } and in dovecot-ldap.conf: user_attrs = dcMailQuota=quota_rule=*:storage=%$ but with this configuration the mail quota /allways/ gets loaded from ldap resulting in users without dcMailQuota attribute having no quota at all. [Dovecot] doveadm not working

Hi, I know I must have done some misconfiguration, but I do not know where to start searching for. All began when looking at my weekly cron message, where doveadm purge -A is run. That fails. So I tried doveadm quota -A as well, which several weeks ago was working perfectly. Example: doveadm quota get -A doveadm(root): Error: User listing returned failure doveadm: Error: Failed to iterate through some users Username Quota name Type Value Limit % All I see in the logs is: May 13 13:03:20 mx0 dovecot: auth: Error: auth worker: Aborted request: Lookup timed out May 13 13:03:21 mx0 dovecot: auth-worker(26753): Error: LDAP: ldap_start_tls_s() failed: Connect error May 13 13:03:21 mx0 dovecot: auth-worker(26753): Error: LDAP: ldap_start_tls_s() failed: Can't contact LDAP server Dovecot itself works. Only doveadm does not. My LDAP is using SASL/EXTERNAL. Certs are in standard folders under /etc/ssl/{certs,private} (see below). I guess that "some" user (but which?) tries to read the certs but is disallowed. Can somebody help me please to fix my permissions on that (private used) mail server? Is my "vmail" user required? Hi, please could anyone help me with managesieve problem? I have working dovecot (imap) and now i am trying to run managesieve plugin. [Dovecot] Log files

Hi, I just started using Dovecot and was trying to create separate logs instead of using syslog. Is there a way to get the file permission to be something other then root? I have tried the below configuration and it does not seem to change anything. The log process does change to a new user, but it still creates and writes as root. Whenever I test a new setting I delete all the current logs so they will have to be recreated to make sure it does not just keep the previous permissions. I also dont see much documentation on the service log. according to dovecot -a there are a good number of options, but I dont see any information about them. Here are my logging settings below and I am running 2.1.6 and tried on 2.1.5. ### Logging info_log_path = /home/user/dovecot/logs/dovecot_info.log log_path = /home/user/dovecot/logs/dovecot.log debug_log_path = /home/user/dovecot/logs/debug.log service log { user = user unix_listener log-errors { group = user2 mode = 0620 user = user } } Thanks, Chris

Hello everybody, I have a problem and no idea. Yesterday Dovecot.log report: Warning: Fixed a duplicate: /opt/*/cur/<time>.M*.<domain>,S=*,W=*:2,S -> <time>.M*.<domain> Now Dovecot.log report: Error: FETCH [ ] for mailbox INBOX UID 10546 got too little data: 79850 vs 81231 Error: Maildir filename has wrong W value: /opt/DIR/DOMAIN/USER/cur/1281317869.M*.*,S=79569,W=81231:2,S~ Error: Corrupted index cache file /opt/DIR/DOMAIN/USER/dovecot.index.cache: Broken virtual size for mail UID 10546 A few days ago, we used a new machine for mail server (and we used maildir format with dovecot-1.2.0).In fact ,we used iRedmail on CentOS5. And last week, I copy some mail data from old machine to new one through SCP and CP command. It worked well. Yesterday, I copy the mail data from old machine to new one through RSYNC. I guess maybe the errors have a relationship with rsync, because the new machine open SELinux and the rsync data error. Although the files were copyed to /cur directory , it seemed to appear the same mail file. Now,I receive some BLANK mails by pop3 of OutLook2007 . There are not any Header and any Body( Totally BLANK). Outlook show they are 760B size. I am confusing for this problem. Please help me. Thank you.

Hi! Since upgrading to 2.1.6, setting namespaces via environment variables using a imap-postlogin-script *sometimes* doesn't work. Sometimes, the prefix of a namespace isn't set correctly, but is set to an empty string, which leads to the following error: namespace configuration error: Duplicate namespace prefix: "" However, the environment is set correctly, the error seems to occur when parsing the environment. See the attached log: The postlogin-script sets the environment variables attached as dovecot-postlogin-environment.txt. (dumped from postlogin script via env) However, the variable "NAMESPACE/S-GSD/PREFIX=Shared/GSD/" gets parsed as: plugin/namespace/s-gsd/prefix=Shared/GSD/ See the error message: Unknown userdb setting: plugin/namespace/s-gsd/prefix=Shared/GSD/ After restarting dovecot, the same configuration sometimes works correctly. [Dovecot] dovecot wants to access my music directory

I am getting an SELinux error every time dovecot starts, because it is trying to access my music directory (/srv/music). I've read the doveadm-mount man page, and tried: doveadm mount add /srv/music ignore but it didn't make any difference. Now, I certainly didn't tell dovecot to access this directory, so how can I tell it *not* to do so. This is dovecot-2.1.6-2.fc17.x86_64 on Fedora 17 Beta, BTW. Hey all, we're in the process of checking out alternatives to our index storage. We're currently storing indexes on a NetApp Metrocluster which works fine, but is very expensive. We're planning a few different setups and doing some actual performance tests on them. Does anyone know some of the IO patterns of the indexes? For instance: - mostly random reads or linear reads/writes? - average size of reads and writes? - how many read/writes on average for a specific mailbox size? Anyone do any measurements of this kind? Alternatively, does anyone have any experience with other redundant storage options? Im thinking things like MooseFS, DRBD, etc? regards, Cor

Hi After rebooting my server connections to the mail system set up there failed - on closer inspection no dovecot process was running or got started. When running as root /usr/share/sbin/dovecot -c /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf got error on console /var/run/dovecot/auth-master could not be opened and found no /var/run/dovecot folder!. Is there better script to place in /etc/init.c/ to start dovecot (which will not fail silently?) Any idea what would remove the folder on ubuntu 10.10, running dovecot 2.1.5 and postfix 2.1.7? Any suggestions? Jacques

Hello, Another question!! Was just trying to sort out mail delivery to subdomains. I set up my system so that I have a mail address of tim(a)subdomain.example.com. I've sorted out Postfix to correctly identify this and pass on to Dovecot for delivery but Dovecot doesn't seem to deliver where I want it to. Ideally I would like to have a structure so that mail is delivered to /var/mail/example.com/subdomain/user My users are stored in MySQL and they are being pulled out correctly, but dovecot is delivering to /var/mail/subdomain.example.com/tim Looking at my logs it seems that the mail location is being picked up not being acted on... Greetings, I have CentOS 6.2 running on our server with a VPS provider (Linode.com) I need to configure Postfix, dovecot, MySQL to work for virtual domains (multiple domains on our server). The only instructions for setting up Email with Postfix, Dovecot and MySQL my host provides is for the configuration on CentOS 5 which is here: http://library.linode.com/email/postfix/dovecot-mysql-centos-5 , I followed it for the installation/configuration of Email with Postfix, Dovecot and MySQL on our CentOS 6.2 Everything seemed to work fine until I got to the editing of the dovecot.conf file. The guide on the Linode Library provides instructions for Dovecot 1.x, while the newer versions of CentOS (CentOS 6) , apparently use Dovecot 2.x. The config file format has changed, so the one in the guide is no longer applicable, and as a result, I got a errors.. I would therefore appreciate it greatly if someone with a copy of the Dovecot 2.x dovecot.conf file configured to work with MySQL and Postfix (for handling mails for multiple domains) could share it with me. Hi I use dovecot 2.1.5 with postfix, amavis, spamassasin, mysql, virtual domains only. Dovecot being used for SASL authentication, and delivery. When I connect via telnet to port 25 or with smtp and try to do auth plain with mmencode connection string authentication works fine. I can send and recieve messages, and relay works as well. Trying to set up thunderbird to connect to this server I get problems - seems as if the password is resolved proper from the database (use postfixadmin), but then compares an upper case version of my password in the MD5-CRYPT() call to the password string obtained from the database. I do see the base64 encoded connection string in dovecot log though. Hello, I have been looking at enforcing quotas for users of my mail system (postfix and Dovecot v1.2). Have tried to follow a few tuts on the web but its not having the desired effect. Essentially I can still send and receive mail on an account that I believe has had its quota exceeded. In my main.cf, I have: userdb sql { args = /etc/dovecot/mysql/dovecot-mysql.conf } passdb sql { args = /etc/dovecot/mysql/dovecot-mysql.conf } and... protocol lda { mail_plugins = quota } protocol imap { mail_plugins = quota imap_quota } plugin { quota_exceeded_message = You have exceeded the maximum quota for your mailbox } the dovecot sql (mysql) file has the following query for pulling out user ids and quotas etc: user_query = SELECT maildir, mymailuser as uid, mymailgroup as gid,concat('maildir:storage=',quota) as quota FROM virtual_mailbox WHERE username = '%u' I have set one of my users to have a quota of 1 (so one byte I believe) so it should be over the limit pretty much immediately. Looking at the logs I can see that the system is picking up on the quota limit but doesn't seem to enforce it. Hello, the error is still present: May 8 19:47:18 opsys dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=82.113.119.140, lip=78.46.216.126 Whenever I start a session with openssl to STARTTTL (Server: mail.opsys.de) the handshake is successfull. Also I am able to login to my account via 1 login. In Thunderbird port 993 for SSL/TLS works correct, only STARTTLS on port 143 isn't working properly. The cert is Class 1 and signed by StartCom Ltd.. Hi all, dovecot supports systemd socket activation. Together with standard unit activation (like old sysv init script), there are two ways how to configure dovecot(only interface:port, not whole configuration). This can result in situation where those configurations does not say the same. Question is what should happen then? For example, lets have dovecot configured to listen for imap(s) and lets have systemd dovecot socket configured to listen for all protocols - pop3(s) and imap(s). When dovecot is configured to start on boot, systemd will start it and dovecot will listen on imap(s) ports. But when dovecot.socket is enabled, it'll listen on pop3(s) too and when new pop3 connection comes, it'll pass it to dovecot and dovecot will serve it. The question is: Should this happen? What exactly should happen when dovecot.conf does not match dovecot.socket configuration? Michal

Using brand new dovecot 2.1.5 I still have a problem with the inheritance of acls. Setting: - maildir with private INBOX and public folders. - users maildir directory (/home/mail/user/ahelmcke) contains dovecot-acl file - public folders root directory (/home/mail/Fax) contains dovecot-acl file When creating a subfolder of the public folder the dovecot-acl files gets copied to the subfolders directory as expected. Hi, I built a mail server with qmail + vpopmail + dovecot , the qmail and vpopmail worked well, until the dovecot was installed. Client always get empty email, I have try some solutions from google, neither of then can solve the problem. Dovecot is installed but actually I just use auth module (for postfix authentication). In your dovecot.conf example, I don't see the "proxy" command ? Could you give me a few more details on the "proxy" command usage (ExtraFields/Proxy is not clear for me)? Dear All, I know there were many threads on this topic. I was searching the archive and the net also, but did not find a solution on my problem. I hope you can help me. I am migrating from an old server using courier to a new server with dovecot and i can not manage to have the same uids after the migration. After copying the message files from the old server to the new, and executing the script from the wiki page the messages are still re-downloaded by the mail clients. Yes, that's possible. The IMAP/POP3 servers behind Dovecot director wouldn't even need to be Dovecots at all. Although you really want to use v2.1 director since it has a lot of fixes compared to v2.0. Mails do get filtered by sieve. After some delivery attempts the mail finaly gets stored alright in the maildir. I'm migrating a load of mailboxes from cyrus to a new dovecot server. What I'd like to do is to switch the DNS to dovecot, and set things up so that all old imap mailboxes are accessed through the dovecot proxy. That way I can migrate them one at a time independent of DNS issues. I've got a load of users specified in mysql, and that configuration works well for local mailboxes. How do I configure things so that I can switch proxy access on and off? What's I've got so far is: password_query = SELECT user, domain, password, "masteruser" as master, "masterpass" as pass, proxy, "remoteimap.server" as host FROM mailboxes \ WHERE user = '%n' AND isMailbox AND active AND domain = '%d' I imagined that I could switch the proxy per user by setting proxy='n' or proxy=null for any users that want to be local, and proxy='y' for any users that I want to forward on to the original server. It doesn't appear to work that way though. Irrespective of the proxy value dovecot appears to try and proxy all users. What am I doing wrong? I can't work it out from the docs, and the source will take quite a bit of studying to get to the bottom of it all. Thanks :), Joe

Im sorry to ask another basic question, but Ive tried to find this answer for several hours now and it eludes me. I'm not sure what's triggered it - I THINK it has something to do with a force-resync, but not sure. I'm no longer viewing my full list of shared mailboxes. I used to have a number of users shown - they had all had their ACL's set individually and were shown in the list. "doveadm acl debug" shows they SHOULD be shown - at least I think so, as the output for the mailboxes that DO appear is identical for those that don't. Where should I look for breakage? -- Daniel

Hi, We're using dovecot to provide pop3 for a number of mailboxes. The setup is pretty simple: Each user / domain has a mailstore in /data/mailstore/<domain>/<user>/Maildir (backed by NFS). Passwords are in simple passwd-file format in the top level domain directory eg: # cat /data/mailstore/foo.com/.passwd user:{plain}password The passdb setup looks like this. passdb { args = username_format=%n /data/mailstore/%d/.passwd driver = passwd-file } The problem we're having is that when we want to remove a domain from the system and we go to rm -rf /data/mailstore/<domain>/ we are unable to because the auth process is still holding onto the file handles for the password file. Can somebody suggest an alternative pattern that I could use for storing password files? Ideally, we'd avoid one large file to prevent locking issues and would also keep the passwd-file setup since it's simple. It would be possible to have the password files in a separate dir, but over time I'm guessing that would lead to nfs turds? Easy to clean up I suppose, but maybe there's a simpler solution I'm missing? George

So why is the port closed for external ip's? I'd rather not add an option that isn't useful to anyone. I think older Dovecot versions have allowed opening both shared/tss2 and shared/tss2/INBOX, but at least in v2.1 that code was broken. With the last change it's still possible to open both of them, the shared/tss2/INBOX just isn't visible in LIST output.

When using dovecot (2.1.5) sasl with postfix (2.8.4) behind nginx smtp proxy I am seeing a ton of errors of the form: postfix/smtpd[7731]: warning: unknown[192.168.0.6]: SASL LOGIN authentication failed: Connection lost to authentication server Nothing is printed by dovecot in the logs regarding the error. It seems that dovecot just hung up on postfix. (side note: no, can't use xclient in nginx/postfix. But perhaps soon.) After much digging I thought I solved it with: login_trusted_networks = 172.20.20.0/24 mail_max_userip_connections = 0 This seems safe enough because dovecot is only providing sasl to postfix, no connections to the outside world. But the error is still happening. # doveadm penalty IP penalty last_penalty last_update 172.20.20.61 1 2012-04-30 19:15:56 19:15:56 strace on the anvil process shows a lot of GETs and INCs: 18:54:06 read(14, "PENALTY-GET\t172.20.20.61\n", 397) = 25 <0.000016> 18:54:06 write(14, "1 1335837245\n", 13) = 13 <0.000029> A two minute survey showed penalty distribution: 0: 60% 1: 15% 2: 18% 3: 8% Finally I just disabled penalties with the info from http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2011-December/062631.html and that seemed to do it. Is there a better way? This took me a long time to run down so I tried to make this message detailed enough that others with similar problems will stumble upon it.

[Dovecot] Sieve script does not run in dovecot 2.0 on squeeze

Hi, I want to use Sieve filtering with my Dovecot 2.0.20 installation on Debian squeeze. [Dovecot] Dovecot for POP3S proxying

I would like to configure Dovecot for POP3S proxying all users from the Internet to the internal Exchange Mail Server. Dovecot proxy have to authenticate the POP3S user (with ldap database) and redirect to exchange server. Is it possible ? Could you give me a dovecot.conf example file ? Regards

[Dovecot] mdbox corruption

I have isolated the corruption in a mailbox to 4 mdbox files. Two of these (smaller) files cause the force-resync to report a breakage and save the file as m.XX.broken. The other two (larger) files cause a crash. Is there a way I can fix these files and recover the mails? -- Daniel

Hello List! I'm having some troubles for a client of mine: he has two ldap branches which may contain valid users for imap login... For now, dovecot is configured so that it uses the auth_bind: ======== uris = ldap://localhost:389/ auth_bind = yes auth_bind_userdn = uid=%u,ou=user,dc=org ldap_version = 3 base = dc=artemis user_attrs = user_global_uid = 8 user_global_gid = 8 pass_attrs = uid=user ## other options user_filter = (uid=%u) pass_filter = (uid=%u) default_pass_scheme = CRYPT ======== Unfortunately, I cannot manage to tell him "hey guy, uses those two branches": uid=%u,ou=user,dc=org and uid=%u,ou=external,dc=org Is there a special way to do that ? Hi Timo my tests resulted in inheritance is given if a userfolder has set some acl to its new created subfolder , which is nice if some userfolder has its acl from global acl there is no inheritance to its new created subfolders, that subfolders will always created with full owner rights i am not really sure if its a good idea to have inheritance from global acl and if its hackabel what is your idea to this ? -- Best Regards MfG Robert Schetterer Germany/Munich/Bavaria

Hello, i'm using kmail2 and for Folder Settings the SETANNOATION command is needed. Is there any way to add this command to Dovecot? I already found a dovecot-metadata-plugin but there is no Package available for Debian. Thanks Dieter

[Dovecot] restoring mails and directories

Good day! is there an easy way to restore e.g. deleted mails and/or mail directories? let me specify: I'm running dovecot 1.2.9 on a current ubuntu lts. It is set to Maildir and I backup the folder with the users maildata nightly via rsync. now, when someone deletes a mail that they still need, and I copy it back from the backup, it will not be visible to mail clients. When I change the mailfile by a letter or so, it shows. that's easy enough, if not exactly awesome ;-) But, if said person deletes a whole folder of mails, this way to make restored mails show up becomes rather unreasonable. surely there is a better way to do this? [Dovecot] Dovecot dsync mail replication issues

Hi, I'm trying to set up some dsync based replication between two hosts on my network. The current topology is a single server running Postfix with a single dovecot installation with a Maildir per user (only 4 users including myself). No NFS, just local system users on ext4. I am only using system users, ie no virtual users. I am using dovecot deliver to deliver mails into the Maildir's. This - being a very standard Maildir installation - all works just fine. I'm running dovecot-2.1.5 (release versions) x86_64 with Gentoo on both hosts and using key based ssh to transport the data using the root login. What I would like to do is extend the design so as to replicate the Maildirs across a second machine and in the future be able to connect via IMAP into either machine to sync mail. Two way dsync would be rather cool because I could then deliver via SMTP to either system and have changes automagically propagate - but initially just simple replication would be a good start. I was hoping that dsync would allow me to do this, but I've run into quite a number of problems while getting this to work. http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2012-March/064243.html ...was very useful and I've based my config on that. Initially I've tried to sync up the user Maildirs, and this has more or less worked: doveadm sync -u lyn remote:root@dustbowl.reub.net This succeeds without error on the initial sync. The users are system unprivileged users only, and do not ever send or receive mail. And - I/O leak? ;) Also, user cisco is local to one box only, and does not exist (nor does it need to) on the remote host. So any complaints about this user are invalid and dovecot needs to ignore replication for this user anyway. Subsequent delivery based sync'ing fails silently (pending more investigation) but I'd like to try and fix the above listed problems first before worrying about the later stages of the sync not working. Has anyone else run into these problems or found better ways of making this type of setup all work? Thanks, Reuben

ManageSieve works fine so far, I can edit and activate/deactive scripts (using Thunderbird + Plugin) and they show up in the filesystem where I expect them to be, see below. [Dovecot] Refiltering mails without loosing flags

Hello, is there a way to refilter all mails in a folder without loosing all flags and moving all messages in a different folder? I have >10k mails in my Inbox and need to create new filterrules from time to time. But there is no way to refilter my inbox without moving. Atm i need to move all mails in a folder like "refilter" and then run getmail/... to refilter the mails. It would be really nice to refilter a existing folder and just move mails with hits in the filter list. Thanks Dieter

Hi, I'm using dovecot 2.0.13 that ships with Ubuntu 11.10. I tried setting up a shared namespace as documented in the wiki to enable the sharing of a mailbox between two users. I have a Maildir(++) directory for each user. Each user has a system account. The Maildir of each user is owned by the user's system account and group read/writable by the group mail (hence mail_access_groups=mail). Relevant parts of my config: mail_plugins = acl mail_location = maildir:/home/dovecot/%u mail_access_groups = mail namespace { type = private separator = / prefix = inbox = yes hidden = no subscriptions = yes } namespace { type = shared separator = / prefix = shared/%%u/ location = maildir:/home/dovecot/%%u:INDEX=/home/dovecot/%u/shared/%%u subscriptions = no list = children } protocol imap { mail_plugins = $mail_plugins imap_acl } plugin { acl = vfile } plugin { acl_shared_dict = file:/home/dovecot/shared-mailboxes } When I try to create an ACL in a telnet session, the command fails with an internal error. The log shows: dovecot: imap(michael): Error: fstat(/home/dovecot/michael/.test/dovecot-acl.lock) failed: No such file or directory dovecot: imap(michael): Error: file_dotlock_open(/home/dovecot/michael/.test/dovecot-acl) failed: No such file or directory The error occurs whether a (manually created) dovecot-acl file exists or not. The dovecot-acl.lock file is created by not removed afterwards. Subsequent setacl commands will timeout waiting for the lock to be released until I delete it manually. If I create the dovecot-acl file manually and provide access to another user, the getacl command will correctly show the permissions and the other user can access the folder. setacl will still fail to modify the acl file, however (same error). Another thing that irritates me is that dovecot seems to use the dotlock locking method, although I explicitly set lock_method to fcntl (also tried flock, same behavior). I'm not using chroot. Hello- Sorry if this is a noob question, but I cant seem to get my password_query to work with dovecot + mysql. Im using 'Password verification by SQL server' at: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/SQL trying to modify it to work with my encrypted passwords in the DB. Im using the following which isnt working: password_query = SELECT NULL AS password, \ 'Y' as nopassword, userid AS user \ FROM users WHERE userid='%u' AND AES_DECRYPT(password, 'mykey')=password 1. v2.1.2 added support for "session IDs", which is a 9 year unique identifier for that specific IMAP/POP3 connection. Hello, The current version of LDA can crash (seg fault 11) under certain circumstances. I don't know why it happens only with some accounts, but here is a backtrace. I'm asked if there is a way to save a copy of all mail we send trough our sendmail server (Red Hat EL 5.x) in and out as an .eml file for further processing by a DMS system. Often those questions could be answered by other people in the mailing list as well, so they just waste my time. Even if you're sure that I'm the only person who can possibly answer it, it may be something that others are interested of as well and replying privately denies them the possibility of reading about it. If you really do not want to send something publicly, you still have an option for private communication: just buy one of the Dovecot support packages. This is also the first Dovecot release that has run through automated release testing. I've been planning on doing that for last 5 years at least, and finally it's done. The testing includes running a lot of tests to verify that the IMAP server gives proper responses, stress testing doesn't break it, memory isn't leaked and several other things. The tests are run for many different kinds of configurations. Some bugs show up only for some specific combination of settings, but unfortunately because there's such a large number of them it's impossible to test every combination. So here's another advantage that Dovecot support customers have: they can have their specific configuration included in the automated tests. This release already fixes one bug I found only after testing a customer's config. Oh, and looks like I got accepted as a speaker to LinuxTag 2012. The plan is to talk about some new things in Dovecot and dsync replication (looks like I have to hurry up with the dsync rewrite). And finally, the most important changes since v2.1.4: * IMAP: When neither the session nor the mailbox has modseq tracking enabled, return the mailbox as having NOMODSEQ in SELECT/EXAMINE reply. Old versions in this situation always simply returned HIGHESTMODSEQ as 1, which could have broken some clients. + dict file: Added optional fcntl/flock locking (default is dotlock) + fts-solr: doveadm fts rescan now resets indexes, which allows reindexing mails. (This isn't a full rescan implementation like fts-lucene has.) + doveadm expunge: Added -d parameter to delete mailbox if it's empty after expunging. - IMAP: Several fixes related to mailbox listing in some configs - director: A lot of fixes and performance improvements - v2.1.4 didn't work without a mail home directory set - mbox: Deleting a mailbox didn't delete its index files. - pop3c: TOP command was sent incorrectly - trash plugin didn't work properly - LMTP: Don't add a duplicate Return-Path: header when proxying. - listescape: Don't unescape namespace prefixes.

[Dovecot] LDAP Lookup not returning value in maxStorage

Hi there, We're setting up a Dovecot virtual email setup - we've got everything working perfect with LDAP logins authenticating against AD and so forth, but we're having issues with retrieving the maxStorage value from AD (this is a pre-setup field in AD that we'd like to use to set per user quotas). Hi guys n gals, im on an ubuntu 11 VPS on linode (dovecot version 2.013). ive spent a lot of time and googling trying to get postfix, dovecot, ssl, saslauthd and mysql to all play nice together and im quite close now but theres something going on i cant quite explain and id really appreciate some help. I have been going for ten hours on this today and it seems in direct conflict with what dovecot themselves say... the problem is a variable in dovecot (%u) which is normally used as a full username in sql query strings (i.e. user@domain) and is simply dropping the domain for some reason... [Dovecot] dsync: convert only mbox in /var/mail to maildir?

I'm migrating an old UW pop server to a new Dovecot server. The old server did not allow mail to be stored on the server, so only mbox files exist in /var/mail, with nothing in /home/$user. I'd like to copy the /var/mail directory over to the new server and then use dsync to convert the mbox files and put them in /home/$user/Maildir, but every permutation of the command line I've tried dies with a variation on can't find/write either /var/mail/mail or /home/$user/mail, seems it won't deal with mbox files without an associated mail directory. Can dsync be used for this kind of conversion, or should I look elsewhere for conversion utilities? [Dovecot] 2.1.x changes and dsync -- Wiki suggestion

There are a couple things that show up on the Upgrading/2.1 wiki page that would be useful to have on pages describing dsync (Tools/Dsync, Migration/MailFormat, Tools, perhaps others): * dsync was merged into doveadm * You can't dsync 2.0.x to/from 2.1.x That second point is especially "interesting" to me as it seems that Apple MacOS X Server is still on 2.0.16, at least from what I see on opensource.apple.com. I was planning on migrating mail off the current server onto my friend's new MacMini, but I'll have to figure out how to "downgrade" the mail jail to a 2.0 version, it seems. [Dovecot] Reading Mutt mboxes from Thunderbird

Hi, I'm a user of Mutt, and before moving to Thunderbird I'm trying to share mboxes between them. To do this, I installed Dovecot to create an IMAP server in my local machine, to serve mutt mboxes to be read by Thunderbird. So far, I can read my inbox from /var/mail/%u, but in mutt, I have many folders in ~/mail, like 2010-mails, 2011-mails, mailing-list-x, mailing-list-y, and so on. How can I configure Dovecot to read them?. In /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-mail.conf I have this: mail_location = mbox:~/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u I'm using Ubuntu 11.10, and Dovecot 2.0.13. [Dovecot] How to remove duplicate GUID messages from storage?

Hi, I tried to import messages like this: doveadm import -u username(a)example.org mdbox:/mail/dovecot/example.org/username/mail mbox:/root/mail.txt all This seemed to have imported the same messages in the mail storage, as they were already there. And now I have got a lot of duplicates. Then I deleted the mbox:/root/mail mail stuff from "mailboxes" folder and the storage remained, with duplicate GUIDs. The following command doveadm -v force-resync -u username(a)example.org INBOX outputs lots of messages like this one, with different GUID doveadm(username(a)example.org): Error: mdbox /mail/dovecot/example.org/username/mail/storage: Duplicate GUID 0b8a032d66a0924fb42c0000de5f8128 in m.55:45484041 and m.14:52173045 The messages at m.55:45484041 and m.14:52173045 have the same content, since they were seemingly imported from the mail store itself, they are in the storage twice now and require twice as much disk space as before. How can I manually remove these identical, duplicate messages from the storage to save space? Dovecot does not do it automatically. Kind regards, Daniel

Hi, im getting the fallowing error. from dovecot-lda log Apr 25 17:30:41 lda(jamal(a)example.com): Fatal: setgid(5003(vmail) from userdb lookup) failed with euid=8(mail), gid=12(mail), egid=12(mail): Operation not permitted (This binary should probably be called with process group set to 5003(vmail) instead of 12(mail)) this error occur if im using different uid and gid part from mail uid.. jamal@example.com:{PLAIN}123:5003:5003::/var/vmail/example.com/jamal/::userdb_mail=maildir:~/Maildir but if i use mail uid it work fine.. jamal@example.com:{PLAIN}123:8:12::/var/vmail/example.com/jamal/::userdb_mail=maildir:~/Maildir i tried using multiple uids as mention in wiki2.dovecot.org/LDA bye setting up setuid-root for dovecot-lda but im getting on-there error from sendmail :- Apr 25 17:30:41 host1 sendmail[31024]: q3PEUen2031022: to=<jamal(a)example.com>, delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=dovecot, pri=120359, relay=dovecot, dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: dovecot mailer (/usr/local/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-lda) exited with EX_TEMPFAIL im using sendmail. [Dovecot] 2.1.5 problem with mail_location

I've been advised to set : mail_location = maildir:~/ as the home directory is found through a sql request. this has been working perfectly up to and including 2.1.4 from 2.1.5 however this setting gives cause to a problem : instead of looking in the mail home eg /var/mail/domain/user\@domain/ dovecot is looking for mail in /var/mail/domain/user\@domain/~ the '~' directory is created upon the first request for mail and all future mail transactions in dovecot is done relative to this folder. is this behavior a bug or a feature ??? -- Bjarne D Mathiesen København N ; Danmark ; Europa ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ denne besked er skrevet i et totalt M$-frit miljø MacOS X 10.7.3 Lion ; 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 ; 16GB 1067MHz DDR3

[Dovecot] sieve vacation redirect problem
