Hi, I am using dovcot on a Fritz!Box (Linux fritz 2.6.19.2 #1 Fri Apr 18 16:00:34 CEST 2008 mips unknown) And after upgrading from 1.0.9 to 1.0.15 I am getting above assertion, when I do some action like moving or deleting on the IMAP mail box using MailDir on ext2 fs. I use --with-ioloop=poll as build configuration. I am getting a different assert, when I compile dovecot with --with-ioloop=epoll and --with-mem-align=4 For dovecof configuration see below details. [Dovecot] fs quota check with server does not support rquotad

Hi, Last time, I have got no reply, hope this time is better. OS: Solaris 10 Dovecot version : 1.1.1 file system of /var/mail : NFS from Solaris file system of /home : other NFS server that not support rquotad. Here is my setting that works: ---------------------------- plugin { quota = fs:INBOX:mount=/var/mail quota2 = fs:home:noenforcing:mount=/home/h1 } The above settings works. Dovecot able to report the quota information on /var/mail. However, when I try to append some mail to mail folders on my home drive, dovecot will produce following errors. Hi Friends, I'm running postfix 2.2.10, dovecot-0.99.11 and openldap -2.2.13 in my organization. Here, all my postfix, dovecot, saslauthd, depends on ldap only. Means ldap is acting as a centralized database for user information. In this picture everything is working fine except user login to dovecot for downloading their mails. Actually they can't able to login to the server from client like outlook express. Instead thay are geting error like "server closed the connection...". Here i'm attaching my dovecot conf file and error log. Hi all, With some help of this list, I've managed to set up some mailboxes keeping \Seen flags as private. Thanks Timo for updating the documentation about that. But now, I've got another question: is it possible to keep those flags as private and have shared keywords ("Junk", "NotJunk", etc.)? [Dovecot] Time moved backwards by 4398 seconds

Dovecot (v1.1.rc8) died tonight, with an error about time moving backwards by 4398 seconds. I can see from logs that this has happend a few times before with the imap processes, without me noticing. I sure noticed the master process missing, though :-). I was puzzled that it was always 4398 seconds, in particular because this server runs an NTP daemon. A little searching for this problem shows that it is an issue with the Linux kernel gettimeofday(), see e.g. http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/8/23/96 Below is a patch (untested) to work around this issue. Do you see something wrong with this approach, apart from the uglyness? I just picked the 4395-4400 values by chance. Can you figure out how big the window should be? Hi, I'm using dovecot v1.0.rc15 (from debian etch) and I have some performance problems. [Dovecot] FETCH for mailbox got too little data

Using 1.1.1. Got this error message in a tight loop, using both Tbird and Mulberry 3 as client: FETCH for mailbox INBOX UID 32994 got too little data: 1616 vs 1649 I get this repeatedly alternating with a login line. What does this mean? I stopped the server, zipped ~/mail/.imap/INBOX to hide it and let dovecot recreate it, and things seem to be working again. Is there a less destructive way to fix this in the future? Delivery is by procmail.

[Dovecot] imap and vpopmail: per-domain auth

Hi, i have qmail + vpopmail + dovecot + squirrelmail 0.99.14 on Fedora Core 4. Qmail includes its own pop3 server, and everybody is able to access it from outside. Dovecot is used only locally by SquirrelMail - so everybody can access via webmail. I'd like to make imap directly available from outside, but only for a few selected domains (NOT ip addresses!), while leaving everyone able to access with pop3 and/or via webmail. I don't know if this is possible, and if it is, i don't even know where to start. Is it a vpopmail or dovecot setting? Thank you for any suggestion and/or pointer to the right documentation. -- Francesco

We have been using dovecot v1:1.0.15-1_72 and dovecot-sieve v1.0.3-7 very successfully for many months but I've been unable to get dovecot-sieve to work with the latest 1.1 release. The new release seems to completely ignore our global sieve script no matter what we do. Is anyone else using the atrpms-stable rpms packages and able to get dovecot-sieve to work correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gavin

I was wondering if Dovecot has the ability to sort email scored by Spamassassin? I know many people use Procmail for sorting but I was wondering if Dovecot can do the job or should I just use Procmail on my Linux (Postfix) server to sort email in specific folders? I have not yet installed Dovecot and or Procmail on the Postfix / Debian server. I would be installing the latest version avialable in apt-get = 1.0.13. Now when I try to retrieve mail from the server, I get the following message: Security Error: Domain name mismatch You have attempted to establish a connection to "mail.tib.com" However, the security certificate presented belongs to "imap.tib.com"..... Everything is working, with exeption of this filter: if header :comparator "i;ascii-casemap" :regex "X-Spam-Score" ".*\+\+\+\+" { fileinto "Spamq"; stop; } Which I think should match only messages with ++++ somewhere in their X-Spam-Score header - but matches everything (this is filter generated by ingo fom horde.org framework). Hi. At http://wiki.dovecot.org/ManageSieve#line-229 , I want to download the patch that's supposed to fix two problems in Avelsieve. Unfortunately, when I click on the link to the patch, I always get an error message: You are not allowed to do AttachFile on this page. Annoying. I am a newcomer to Dovecot so apologies if this is elementary. I want to set up dovecot to allow other computers on my home network to read emails on my desktop via IMAP. This computer is called arcadia. dovecot is running and I can access the mail on the same computer with mutt -f imap://ac@localhost. If I use the above line on a different computer in the network it says "authenticaing 'PLAIN'" and then "logging in ..", then "login failed" and cuts out. In /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf I have set disable_plaintext_auth = no I have no idea how to proceed further. Anthony Campell

Hi, I'm a Dovecot newbie and have some problems with the configuration/the resulting interoperability. My setup looks like this: I receive my mail using qmail-ldap and sort it with a number of means into ~/Mailbox/ (= INBOX) and ~/Mail/folder/ for various values of 'folder' (generally one folder per mailing list). The sorting is done via .qmail-* files, LDAP entries, and procmail (this is a "legacy" setup that I'd rather not change too much). I usually access my mail using 'mutt' on the local machine (Debian 4.0), and everything is fine. I'd like to be able to access the same email using Thunderbird over IMAPS as well, to gain foreign character support (ie, Chinese), while continuing to use mutt as my main MUA. There are, so far, two problems with this setup: 1. I can't find the folders in ~/Mail/. As an interim solution, I symlinked them from my ~/Mailbox/ dir, but this is _dead_ugly_. 2. (MUCH more serious) As soon as I access the email using Thunderbird, Dovecot moves all new mail from somefolder/new to somefolder/cur, thereby making mutt flag all my new mail as 'O' ("old") which was flagged 'N' ("new") before. If I remember which the new mails were, I can flag them as 'N' in mutt, and they get moved to .../new again, but this isn't usually the case because my mailboxen are often large (> 10.000 messages), and it's undone as soon as I access the mailbox with Thunderbird (over IMAPS). I also have a wish list. Both Mutt and Dovecot (can) make use of index files to speed mail access. It would be great if this could be unified so that both programs use the same index files (in a consistent manner, of course). Hi List, last time i did a lot of packaging and installing different versions of dovecot 1.0.x (rc not included ;) )and all was fine. Now a have a little problem. But it seems that it was not first pop-login after dovecot update. Update time was 14:57 Uhr. Pop-Login which "created" this mails was 3rd after update.
