With Dovecot's proxy (and also the nginx proxy, http://sysoev.ru/en/) individual processes can handle multiple connections, and takes advantage of epoll for network events which is ideal for handling large numbers of idle IMAP connections. With Perdition we'd run at 2000 connections per server, with Dovecot we haven't it a peak yet, but expect to peak at around 15,000 - 25,000 connections per proxy server. [Dovecot] Running just part of dovecot

I'm currently setting up a large mail system, with different services split out onto different machines. What I want is this: machine1: dovecot smtp auth, no pop/imap machine2: dovecot lda, no pop/imap machine3: pop/imap, nothing else machine3 is obviously not the issue. hi there i have a such problem: in dovecot.conf ... protocol imap { listen = *:143 ssl_listen = *:993 mail_plugins = quota imap_quota } ... quota = dirsize:storage=10240 ... in dovecot-ldap.conf: ... user_attrs = uid,,,uid,uidNumber,gidNumber,boxQuota=quota=dirsize:storage ... when an user try to answer out from overquoted box he got the message "overquota blahblahblah", BUT the message still goes... it seems that the imap_quota worked (report about the overquota) but plugin quota dont work. in dovecot logs : ... [Dovecot] DSpam plugin

I'm trying to set up Johannes's DSpam plugin for dovecot. I've compiled rc2 and the plugin, and have things installed OK. I have a X-DSPAM-Signature in my message that is delivered to Inbox. Whenever I try to move this to my spam folder (I changed source to say 'Spam' instead of 'SPAM'), my client (Thunderbird) pops up 'The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: dspam failed.' I've set '#define DEBUG 1' in the plugin and see this in my 'messages' log. Sep 20 09:39:03 ltsp imap: /usr/local/bin/dspam --source=error --stdout --class=spam --signature=45113fe931161804284693 '/usr/local/bin/dspam' is the location of my dspam binary. Occasionally, though not every time I move a message, I see this in my 'messages' log. Hi all, Im new and have a problem, With authtest, i have Authentication [root@dc9f8f585 ~]# authtest esimon(a)example.tld Authentication succeeded. Authenticated: esimon(a)example.tld (uid 501, gid 501) Home Directory: /home/vmail/domains/ Maildir: (none) Quota: (none) Encrypted Password: (none) Cleartext Password: (none) Options: (none) With testsaslauthd, i have Authentication [root@dc9f8f585 ~]# testsaslauthd -u esimon(a)example.tld -p edu+123* 0: OK "Success." [Dovecot] Deliver-Problem

Hi, I installed a Emailserver based on Debian Sarge, exim (4.50-8sarge2) and dovecot (1.0.rc2-1bpo1). Delivering Mails with Exim to my Maildir works fine. Because I want to filter my messages with Sieve, I tried to deliver mails with deliver, but get the following error message (example with a testmail and user "Debian-exim", not delivered via Exim): --8<-- dovecot: 2006-09-19 13:17:23 Error: auth(default): deliver(username(a)domain.tld): "2006-09-19 13:17:23 "Fatal: setgid(1003) failed: Operation not permitted --8<-- Here's the relevant part of my configuration file: --8<-- auth default { mechanisms = plain login passdb sql { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf } userdb sql { args = /etc/dovecot/dovecot-sql.conf } socket listen { master { path = /var/run/dovecot/auth-master mode = 0660 user = virtual group = virtual } } } --8<-- User "Debian-exim" is in the same group as user "virtual". hello, I have submitted a few weeks ago problem on sieve implementantion but there not useful solution for me at this time. I think that it depend on my mail architecture : _One NFS server _two dovecot POP/IMAP server (for pop and webmail access) : the POP/IMAP don't run dovecot LDA _two delivery serveur with exim and dovecot LDA : they communicate with external relay servers and deliver mail in box. The mailbox format is maildir and the dovecot version is 1.0 rc2 Question : On which server and how to implement sieve for dovecot. Regards Amadou TOURE
