[Dovecot] undefined reference to fallocate64

Hi While compiling dovecot 2.0.8 on Ubuntu 9.10 I get the following error at make: ../../src/lib-dovecot/.libs/libdovecot.so: undefined reference to `fallocate64' Any idea how to resolve this? Thanks, Mike

The same issue appears to exist with the shipping version of Dovecot on Mac OS X Server 10.6+. I have shared namespaces that cause this same issue (and your subsequent issues with roundcube). -- Eric N. Jones Sr. Engineer TransWare Enterprises Inc.

[Dovecot] Expire plugin does not work

Hello, I followed the instructions on http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/Expire to configure the expire plugin, but when I move a message to the Trash folder, I get the following error messages in my logfile: dovecot: dict: Error: sqlite: exec(INSERT INTO expires (expire_stamp,username,mailbox) VALUES ('1292525469','christoph','Trash')) failed: unable to open database file (14) dovecot: dict: Error: sql dict: commit failed: I have attached a "dovecot -n"-generated dovecot.conf, the configuration file for the expire dict service, and my sqlite3 database file. In my filesystem, dovecot-dict.sqlite currently has permissions 666. Regards Christoph

[Dovecot] dovecot 2.0.8 LDA with MYSQL issues

Hi, after deciding to use Dovecot 2.0.8 as a postfix LDA using mysql DB I'm running into some issues. I started to follow, http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/DovecotLDAPostfixAdminMySQL but noticed that the auth settings on the config changed, after looking through the dovecot wiki I think I have that issue fixed. However I still can't get the SQL part to work right, below is what I have on the conf.d/sql.conf and the error I get. service dovecot status doveconf: Fatal: Error in configuration file /usr/local/etc/dovecot/conf.d/sql.conf line 1: Unknown setting: password_query Where do I put the sql connect string, in the URL above that along with the driver type went on the sql.conf file but that is no longer the case. If anyone has a better reference/suggestions for what im trying to do I would appreciated it. [Dovecot] deliver -m causes crash: Panic: stream doesn't support seeking backwards

When exim runs deliver -m and tries to write to a directory that does not exist is causes a crash which stops the exim MTA. this command fails when the snarf plugin is enabled. 5 status inbox (UIDNEXT MESSAGES) with the error: Dec 10 13:57:57 tr27n12.aset.psu.edu dovecot: imap(tstem38): Panic: file index-transaction.c: line 71: assertion failed: (box->opened) If it isn't easy to reproduce, I'll spit out the config. thanks, Jonathan

Hi All, I try to install dovecot 2 in ubuntu, but when I try dsync on virtualbox "dsync -v -u it mirror it(a)10.32.1.3" it come out an error to me. dsync-local(it): Error: Can't rename mailbox INBOX_15a69e11bbd4014d09330000a5727609 to INBOX: Target mailbox already exists dsync-local(it): Error: Can't rename mailbox INBOX to INBOX_e67c001b52ca014d8f5c00001f237f90: Renaming INBOX isn't supported. May I know what is the problems on here? Hi, after setting up a new Dovecot server with shared and public namespaces, both with hidden=no and list=children, I see some inconsistency in the folder listing. . NAMESPACE * NAMESPACE (("" "/")) (("Shared/" "/")) (("Public/" "/")) . OK Namespace completed. . LIST "" * * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "INBOX" * LIST (\Noselect \HasChildren) "/" "Shared/user(a)do.main" * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Shared/user(a)do.main/INBOX" * LIST (\HasChildren) "/" "Public" . OK List completed. . LIST "Shared/" * * LIST (\Noselect \HasChildren) "/" "Shared/user(a)do.main" . OK List completed. . LIST "Public/" * . OK List completed. With LIST "Shared/" the other users INBOX is missing, so with namespace capable clients like Thunderbird it is impossible to see or subscribe this folder. The "Public/" namespace has some subfolders, but only for other acl_groups and I don't have rights to access any of them. So the LIST "Public/" looks good. However, with LIST "" * it is shown without the trailing slash and with \HasChildren where it should be hidden. [Dovecot] Permission denied

After several trouble free months and without any obvious reason our server just stopped working. I cannot even re-start it: [root@dsmail /]# service dovecot start Starting Dovecot Imap: Can't open log file /var/log/dovecot.log: Permission denied If I create those manually (touch /var/log/dovecot.log, .../dovecot_info.log, .. dovecot_debug.log) service starts, but reports an error in dovecot.log: "Dec 16 14:55:30 master: Error: symlink(/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf, /var/run/dovecot/dovecot.conf) failed: Permission denied" and users still cannot login. Where do I start troubleshooting? [Dovecot] load increase after upgrade to 2.0.8

I upgraded most of our servers from 1.2.x to 2.0.8 and am noticing a really big increase in server load. This is across the board, not any specific server.
