The sample Director configuration (10-director.conf) says that director_servers and director_mail_servers can be lists of either IPs or hostnames: # List of IPs or hostnames to all director servers, including ourself. # Ports can be specified as ip:port. The default port is the same as # what director service's inet_listener is using. #director_servers = # List of IPs or hostnames to all backend mail servers. Ranges are allowed # too, like 10.0.0.10-10.0.0.30. #director_mail_servers = However, if I use hostnames, it bails out with an "Invalid IP address" error. It also seems to be confusing the dashes in my hostnames for address range specifications. Obviously hostnames are not currently supported, but I thought I'd mention it so the documentation could be updated. -Brad

[Dovecot] Patch for second fs quota under solaris

Hallo. We use dovecot 1.2.12 running under Solaris 9 and wanted to set up a second filesystem quota root because the mail folders are in the users home directories and the inboxes of all users are in /var/mail. This is defined in dovecot.conf: quota = fs:Home-Verzeichnis:noenforcing quota2 = fs:INBOX:noenforcing:mount=/var/mail This second quota did not work, but now I found the reason why. The mountpoint_get in src/lib/mountpoint.c needs to call resetmnttab to find the filesystem for the second quota root (see man resetmnttab). The following patches correct this and also adds some debugging code to src/plugins/quota/quota-fs.c to show the processing of quota2. [Dovecot] dovecot 2.0 rc1 missing folder INBOX

Hello, I have maildir format, and usually I found a folder "INBOX" in older versions of dovecot. Now I get this folder structure: ~user/maildir with folder new tmp cur Drafts (auto generated) Sent (auto) Trash (auto) This happens if a first email arrives or the user logs in the first time. If I connect direct to the server and send the command 1 list "" "*" * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Sent" * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Trash" * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Drafts" * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "INBOX" * LIST (\Noselect \HasNoChildren) "/" "FremdeOrdner" 1 OK List completed. [Dovecot] problems with sieve under 2.0...

I'm experimenting with a 2.0 setup, using the sieve plugin for 2.0 from mercurial. Without sieve, everything seems to work fine. [Dovecot] Thunderbird problem

Hello Some users had occasionally a problem with Thunderbird , some random emails with attachement(s) cannot be read anymore the email appears empty and TB seems to enter in an infinite loop saying it is downloading the message The only solution I found was : 1 - stop thunderbird on the client machine 2 - remove the .imap user's directory 3 - restart thunderbird on the client machine After doing that all emails re-appear normally and attachements are readable/downloadable again. ALL our clients use the IMAP(S) protocol. Anyone had the same problem ? Thanks F

[Dovecot] Australian Internet Filtering Position

List, With sites like this appearing everywhere: http://www.dontfilterme.com and http://nocleanfeed.com/ Just trying to get a general opinion with what everyone thinks of the filtering situation in Australia. Whether you believe its a good thing or a bad thing or you don't really care. I'm writing a letter to an Australian MP (Member of Parliament) and I want to get some actual opinions of what other systems administrators think of the internet filter, even if they are not in Australia. [Dovecot] OT: Sieve + Forward as Attachment

I know that this is technically not a Dovecot problem; however, I was wondering if anyone knew if 'sieve' had been updated with the ability to 'forward as attachment' a received document. I believe it has the ability to forward a document; however, I need the ability to forward it as an attachment if possible. Also I believe, somewhat due to my asking for them, that sieve exits with appropriate error codes. [Dovecot] sieve not respecting userdb_mail setting?
