[Dovecot] User Can't Access Public Folder

Greetings, I have set up some public folders for Thunderbird, and one user in particular cannot access the shared folders. [Dovecot] Dovecot 2.0 auth socket error

Hi Timo, ok, when dovecot starts up, it creates the socket files in /usr/local/var/run/dovecot for the auth and a variety of other socket stuff you have going on. It creates these socket files with root ownership. But I have in the config files that dovecot is running as a particular user (in this case uid100 and gid100) to match the global mail systems needs. I use qmail as the delivery agent, and when qmail envokes deliver, I get the following errors in the qmail log files : @400000004c1b18f22ea7a05c delivery 1497: deferral: lda:_Error:_userdb_lookup:_connect(/usr/local/var/run/dovecot/auth-userdb)_failed:_Permission_denied_(euid=100(sn)_egid=100(sn)_missing_+w_perm:_/usr/local/var/run/dovecot/auth-userdb,_euid_is_not_dir_owner)/lda:_Fatal:_Internal_error_occurred._Refer_to_server_log_for_more_information./ Now, from what I can tell, this is complaining that the socket doesn't have write permission for the group, because it is owned by root and created with only 600 permissions...I can chmod the file to add the rw for the group, and then it appears to start working ok, but if I stop and start dovecot, it will only re-create those files with the 600 permissions... It appears that this is not happening in the version 1.2.11 code base as I this machine is a new one that I am testing 2.0 code on... [Dovecot] strange regex sieve filter error

Hi all, ok, I'm getting an error produced by the following sieve file : require ["fileinto","copy"]; # rule:[SPAM-TAG] if allof ( header :regex "Subject" "^\\[SPAM-TAG\\]") { fileinto "SPAM-TAG"; stop; } and I'm getting the following error in the dovecot delivery log : main_script: line 3: error: unknown tagged argument ':regex' for the header test (reported only once at first occurence). main_script: error: validation failed. But I looked up the syntax, and tried to figure out why this is getting the error. I guess I just don't quite know what this error means... I know that the value that it is trying to match is kind of strange, but it is a regular expression, so it should work... Thanks, Tim.

[Dovecot] Problem configuring rawlog with 2.0beta6

The initial problem I was seeing after upgrade from 2.0beta5 to 2.0beta6 was error messages from my Android phone K9 client that dovecot was reporting -1 messages in various mailboxes. These mailboxes do have the special "Mail System Internal Data" message in them. In trying to get more information for debugging, I tried toenable rawlog using the same configuration I used successfully with 2.0beta5, namely: service imap { executable = imap imap-postlogin } service imap-postlogin { executable = script rawlog unix_listener imap-postlogin { } } (full dovecot -n below), but instead of successful rawlog writes, I got the following log messages: Jun 16 19:46:36 sbh16 dovecot: script: Fatal: Client not compatible with this binary (connecting to wrong socket?) Hello, I have been using successfully Dovecot 1.1.x for about a year now. It has been very stable. Now I'm uprading that same system to newer and more powerful hardware and I was wondering whether it is good idea or not to switch to Dovecot 1.2.x series. Could anybody direct me to feature comparision document or explain here main differences betweeen thos two branches? -- Veiko

Hi List, I'm trying to make dovecot deliver messages to sam+extension(a)example.com to the imap folder 'extension' of the user 'sam'. Hi, I've some virtual folders which seem a bit odd when they are listed. a LIST "virtual.spam." "*" * LIST (\Noselect \HasNoChildren) "." "virtual.spam." * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "." "virtual.spam.unchecked" * LIST (\Noselect \HasChildren) "." "virtual.spam.disagree" * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "." "virtual.spam.disagree.dspam" * LIST (\HasNoChildren) "." "virtual.spam.disagree.spamassassin" a OK List completed. This seems ok, virtual.spam and virtual.spam.disagree can't contain mails. I'm wondering if virtual.spam should have the flag \HasChildren instead if \HasNoChildren, but this doesn't cause trouble... a LIST (SUBSCRIBED) "virtual.spam." "*" * LIST (\Subscribed \Noselect) "." "virtual.spam.disagree.spamassassin" * LIST (\Subscribed \Noselect) "." "virtual.spam.disagree.dspam" * LIST (\Subscribed \Noselect) "." "virtual.spam.unchecked" a OK List completed. When I list the folder with (SUBSCRIBED), the virtual folders are all flagged with \Noselect. This appears at all virtual folders. All other folders don't have the \Noselect flag. On the Nokia N900 I can't enter all virtual folders. The log shows that the n900 always list the folders with (SUBSCRIBED). Is this listing the expected behaviour? regards, Matthias

[Dovecot] Shared mailboxes errors

Hello list, I'm implementing shared mailboxes on live system and after enabling acl plugin I got errors in my log: Jun 17 15:50:33 dict: Error: sql dict iterate: Invalid/unmapped path: shared/shared-boxes/anyone/ I have no clue why this happening, users don't know about new functionality they just use imap as before. Also dict database begin to fill up by records like: select * from user_shares; user@domain.com|admin@domain.com|1 But user don't use setacl command. Searching for the list gave http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2009-April/038664.html , but question seemed still open. So, can someone give point how to fix\avoid this ? One more question, on live system it's hard to debug dovecot with mail_debug=yes for all users, can this option be turn on for individual user? or maybe mail_debug stream can be redirected also for individual user ? [Dovecot] IMAP Address book ?

Hello Does anyone knows if it is possible to manage a personnal address book with Dovecot and IMAP ? I mean would it be possible to store it in the IMAP user's space and not in the MUA address book in order to always retrieve it even changing on machine / MUA ? Thanks
