[Dovecot] dovecot: child 53439 (imap) killed with signal 11
by Adam McDougall 21 Feb '08

21 Feb '08

For quite some time I have seen dovecot imap exit with a sig11 without any other error message, but usually with the frequency of between once per week and once per day (per server). A few weeks ago I finally enabled core dumping with debug symbols and it seemed to happen less often. I finally caught a coredump that wasn't overwritten. I have no idea what on the client end may cause it, it has happened to myself too. dovecot 1.11b16 FreeBSD 6.3 amd64 Maildir on NFS # 1.1.beta16: /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf ssl_cert_file: /usr/local/etc/apache22/ssl/mail.pem ssl_key_file: /usr/local/etc/apache22/ssl/mail.pem login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable: /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap-login mail_max_userip_connections: 25 verbose_proctitle: yes first_valid_uid: 1000 first_valid_gid: 1000 mail_extra_groups: postlocal mail_location: maildir:%h/Maildir:CONTROL=%h/Maildir/dovecot/private/control:INDEX=%h/Maildir/dovecot/private/indexes mmap_disable: yes mail_nfs_storage: yes mail_nfs_index: yes mail_drop_priv_before_exec: yes mail_plugins: acl fts fts_squat mail_log_max_lines_per_sec: 0 imap_client_workarounds: delay-newmail netscape-eoh tb-extra-mailbox-sep namespace: type: private separator: / inbox: yes list: yes subscriptions: yes namespace: type: private separator: / prefix: mail/ hidden: yes subscriptions: yes namespace: type: private separator: / prefix: Mail/ hidden: yes subscriptions: yes namespace: type: public separator: / prefix: #shared/decs/ location: maildir:/egr/mail/shared/decs:CONTROL=%h/Maildir/dovecot/public/control/decs:INDEX=%h/Maildir/dovecot/public/indexes/decs list: yes subscriptions: yes auth default: passdb: driver: pam userdb: driver: passwd args: system_user= socket: type: listen client: path: /var/spool/postfix/private/auth mode: 384 user: postfix group: postfix plugin: acl: vfile:/usr/local/etc/dovecot-acls:cache_secs=10 fts: squat # gdb /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/imap imap.53439.hill.core GNU gdb 6.1.1 [FreeBSD] Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. [Dovecot] Shared Mailbox
by c-schettner 20 Feb '08

20 Feb '08

Hi all, I am a very new dovecot user and I do not have many experience in Linux configuration. I use dovecot v1.0.rc.15 (Debian package) IMAP service with virtual domains and users in /home/vmail and everything runs perfectly. Now I want to share the "testfolder" under the mailbox of "user1" to all memebers of "example.net" but I don?t understand the wiki pages (http://wiki.dovecot.org/SharedMailboxes) The ACL-plugin is on in dovecot.conf. my structure under /home/vmail -example.net --user1 ---/.drafts ---/.INBOX.testfolder ---/.Sent ---/.trash ---/Cur ........ --user2 --- (dito) -xxxx.de --user3 --user4 -test.com --user5 --user6 can anybody help with a configuration tip? Many thanks, Christian.

[Dovecot] 1.0.10 - Can deliver get quotas from users maildirsize?
by Tobias Balle-Petersen 20 Feb '08

20 Feb '08

Hello... I'm experimenting with controlling users quota by manipulation the maildirsize files in virtual users (LDAP) homedirs (Is this OK?). This works with IMAP, but deliver via postfix delivers mail to users even if they are over quota. I would like to reject new mails in this case. Any ideas? Thanks, Tobias

[Dovecot] warning: connect to transport dovecot: No such file or directory
by David Koski 19 Feb '08

19 Feb '08

I have installed postfix, dovecot, mysql as per: http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/DovecotLDAPostfixAdminMySQL ..on Debian Etch. I thought mailboxes were created by postfixadmin or postfix but I only get an error: warning: connect to transport dovecot: No such file or directory ..in the postfix log. No /var/vmail/example.com is created. After creating the domain directory and user directory, applying correct ownership, still it made no difference. I checked my main.cf: virtual_mailbox_base = /var/vmail Any clues? Thanks! David Koski david(a)kosmosisland.com
