[Dovecot] Config Error Puzzle

Can somebody help me get this right please. I'm trying to upgrade to version 1 and I get this error which I can't workaround: expecting "=" on line 33 Line 33 is the passdb file name ?? I'm trying this with 1.0 beta3 on a Devil linux system (v 1.2.9). Hi All I intermittently get these kind of errors when connecting to my beta2 imap dovecot: reported error 0x8004df0b:'Outlook is unable to download folder (null) from the imap email server for account mymailhost.com'. Error the server is unavailable. Receiveing Reported error (0x800CC0F):'The connection to the server was interrupted' While these are from outlook - I often get one simiar to the first one in my evolution clients. Are these things that can be best managed with some sort of configuration change? What might be other possible causes of these (apart from a power cut to the server? thx Glenn

[Dovecot] RHEL4 configuration

I just installed a new email server using RHEL4. I only want pop3d services, no imap is desired so I modified the dovecot.conf file by changing to "protocols = pop3". All is working fine. However, dovecot requires access to /home/user/mail or the Thunderbird client hangs when attempting to download email. We have a single /home that is mounted by all servers for all users. We do not want the mail server to mount this /home. So I created directories with the usernames in the mail server's /home. This is not desired from a system management perspective. The files dovecot creates in the /home/user/mail directory appear to be for the use of IMAP which we do not use. How do I configure dovecot to not access /home and to not create any IMAP files? Thank you

Hi, I'm using dovecot beta3 on a debian sarge (unstable debs backported). I have successfully managed to make dovecot-lda to work but enabling modules it seems not to work and gives me strange error messages. [Dovecot] how to make the server consistent for replication?

hi every one, i want to make the dovecot mail server consistent and flush its caches for backup purpose. can anybody tell mehow to make that? (i've written a signal handler to call the functoins from my code. The server caches should be flushed before the function call.) any reply ? --------------------------------- Yahoo! There's a minor compilation bug in dovecot 1.0 beta3 -- if there are no sql_drivers, then the generated Makefile in src/lib-sql exits improperly. A simple patch is appended below. Thanks I succeed with disable_plaintext_auth = no I think that it's not good for security. I'm looking for security with pop3s. I made a certificate with cacert.org

Hi Following my last posts, i succeed to connect pop3 in localhost but not in mydomain.org (with dovecot 0.99 it worked) I have this error : -ERR Plaintext authentication disabled. Thanks

[Dovecot] Dovecot can't connect to mysql

Hi. I've just compiled dovecot-1.0.alpha5 with mysql support.from freebsd ports (FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE). It looks like dovecot has problems connecting to mysql. In the log I'm getting: dovecot: Feb 24 16:57:41 Error: auth-worker(default): mysql: Connect failed to (null) (exim): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) - waiting for 5 seconds before retry dovecot: Feb 24 16:57:41 Error: auth-worker(default): sql(facha(a)facha.org.ua,127.0.0.1): Password query failed: Not connected to database dovecot: Feb 24 16:57:44 Info: pop3-login: Aborted login: user=<facha(a)facha.org.ua>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, secured This is my dovecot-mysql.conf: connect = host=localhost dbname=exim user=root password=qwer default_pass_scheme = PLAIN password_query = SELECT password FROM auth WHERE username = '%u' AND domain = '%d' Exim is working with the same settings on the same machine. I also checked if I can use these settings with mysql console client. I don't know where to look for errors. Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks in advance for your answers.
