force-resync and replication

Hi list, I am using dovecot 2.2.27 (c0f36b0) on two servers with (dovecot) replication between them. I do not use dovecot-directors or -proxies. I just have a floating IP on the servers to do failover. I had the problem today that in one user's INBOX and one if his mailfolders got flooded with hundreds of thousands of duplicates. How this happened is another issue (of someone has an idea it would be more than welcome) for which I will start another thread. I remedied the situation by: 1. switching off dovecot on the standby-server to avoid duplicates getting replicated. 2. kicking the affected user from the master-server 3. running a doveadm force-resync on all his mailfolders (after removing the indices). Thereby I did get rid of the duplicates. (Note: doveadm deduplicate did not work because of index error) My question is now, what steps I need to take before enabling replication again (i.e. switching on the standby server), in order to avoid duplicates (if any) being replicated back to the master-server. permissions of newly created mailboxes only with dovecot-lda and posix acls

Hi! I am experiencing troubles concerning the inheritance of the setgid bit if a new mailbox is created with dovecot-lda. Why is dovecot-lda behaving differently if Posix-ACLs are set on Maildir? Any why isn't dovecot imap affected? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am actually clueless! How to log a Sieve match in Dovecot debug_log

Hi everybody! I manage a mail server running Dovecot 2.2.21 with Pigeonhole 0.4.10. I successfully configured sieve and use it also to filter some spam messages. Here is one of the script I use to filter messages on the basis of prohibited words in message body. As you can see, the last command writes to the log the action of this script. -- the script begins ------------ require ["fileinto", "imap4flags", "editheader", "body", "vnd.dovecot.debug"]; if anyof ( body :text :contains "crypto", body :text :contains "sex", body :text :contains "viagra" ) { setflag "\\Seen"; addheader :last "X-Sieve-Filtered" "blocked words in message body"; fileinto "INBOX.Spam"; debug_log "Body contains blocked word: <the matching word>"; } -- the script ends -------------- MY QUESTION: is there a way to have also the result of the match in that log message? I mean, is it possible to have that "<the matching word>" substituted with the exact word that matched one of the conditions (more or less the same way it is possible using Exim's System Filter)? Auto configure email clients from Dovecot?

Hi Friends, I'm using on Debian Jessie, Dovecot 1:2.2.13-12~deb8u3. I would like to know if is it possible to auto-configure the email client, for example Thunderbird or K-9 mail. Essentially I would like to know if is it possible to let dovecot instruct the mail client about how to auto-configure the email client. Actually my mail server parameters are not automatically taken from Thunderbird or K9-Mail. Is there a way to make this possible? Or am I on a wrong path? Many many thanks! Davide Italy

Looking into a solution for Caldav (and possibly carddav) support

We have an existing Dovecot/Postfix/Roundcube email solution, which I was hoping to add Caldav (and carddav?) support to, with the goal of 3rd party email clients being able to keep contacts and calendars in sync (as well as having the same information in roundcube) In doing research, I came across traces of it being considered for Dovecot at one time (https://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2015-September/101996.html) and I was wondering where this went. Specifically, https://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2015-September/101997.html seemed to hint that metadata support was a prerequisite for this (mainstream as of the email), and I was wondering if this meant there was potentially a solution built on top of this. Sharing Mailbox between users using IMAP

Hi list! I have an account (let's say info(a)mydomain.com) that should be read from more people. These people does NOT have an account on the server. Currently info(a)mydomain.com is a forward to their addresses, but of course this solution has a huge problem: if info@ receives spam that the server does not recognize, the server forwards spam... Now I want to solve this problem and I had the idea to change info@ from "forward" to "local account". Then, I can read the E-Mails via IMAP. Now the question: if I have 5-6 people accessing the account via IMAP, has Dovecot (2.2.13 from Debian repositories) problems? FTS Solr errors using doveadm

Solr 7 returns JSON by default but fts_solr requires XML. Would be good to have wt=xml added to the query to force it to xml all the time, this would prevent errors if solr has not had xml set as default for index. doveadm: problem listing shared mailboxes using a wildcard

I'm setting up a dovecot server with private and shared namespaces. My test setup has these mailboxes: # /bin/doveadm mailbox list -u fdl01(a)spike.test INBOX/sub01 shared shared/sammel01(a)spike.test shared/sammel02(a)spike.test INBOX In order to do some post-login scripting foo I'd like to get a list of shared mailboxes the user is currently subscribed to. The doveadm-mailbox man page says "It's also possible to use wildcards in the mailbox name." I'd like to use that feature to output only mailboxes from the shared namespace. However usind the wildcard character * doesn't output anything: # /bin/doveadm mailbox list -u fdl01(a)spike.test -s shared* # Am I doing something wrong? p@rick P.S.
