Automatically subscribe to the INBOX folder

Hello, I am using the ‘auto = subscribe’ feature in the mailbox configuration section in the usual fashion (as shown in conf.d/15-mailboxes.conf): namespace inbox { inbox = yes mailbox Drafts { special_use = \Drafts auto = subscribe } ... } When I connect to an account with the Thunderbird mail client, those mailboxes/folders get autocreated and autosubscribed. Good! INBOX, however, does not get subscribed to automatically. When I look at the account’s subscriptions in Thunderbird, all folders are subscribed, except INBOX. How can I enable autosubscribe for the INBOX folder (like the other folders)? Is there an option for this? This is in Dovecot 2.2.22. Cheers, David

Regression ACL & namespace prefix

Hi tl;dr: Seems that for Global ACL directory, namespace prefix is not part of the path, when looking for acl file. Long version: We're planning to update dovecot in next os update to 2.2.36 and while going through regression testing, we found a problem with ACL configuration combined with namespace. Test uses "Global ACL directory" configuration. "" : mailbox_list_get_vname(_backend->list, name); that happened quite time ago during bigger acl changes and I don't know why exactly this line was changed previously. Anyway, reverting this line alone fixes the problem and while testing both per-mailbox ACL vfile and Global ACL file, reverting this did not affect them.

imapsieve: script not triggered

Hi, folks! My problem: I set up dovecot with imapsieve to execute a script whenever a user copies a mail to his Spam folder (spam autolearning). Unfortunately this script is never executed regardless what I’m configuring for imapsieve. It looks like dovecot doesn’t really load the plugin… The "dovecot -n" output is attached. I already tried setting imapsieve_mailbox1_name to *, but even this does not execute the script… Also I tried a mailbox without mail_crypt enabled, no success as well. In the attached mail.log (mail_debug=yes) you can see, that imap_sieve_plugin is loaded, but it isn’t really executed. Inbox quota usage doubled when mailbox_list_index enabled, under some circumstances

Hello, I searched through the list archives for anything that appeared to be similar to this but I didn't find any good matches. I apologize if this has been brought up before. Beginning with Dovecot 2.2.34, reported quota usage of a user's inbox can be doubled when the following criteria are met: 1) quota plugin is enabled 2) mailbox_list_index=yes 3) A sub-folder of the inbox exists whose name also matches the prefix (for example, "INBOX.Test"), even if that folder has no contents. (Apparently, some mail clients such as K-9 Mail on Android can create these folders automatically) Downgrading to 2.2.33.2 allows this configuration to work normally. I looked through the changes in git between 2.2.33.2 and 2.2.34 and they appeared extensive, so unfortunately I wasn't able to pinpoint a specific change that caused this. expunge not removing attachments?

I have a large mail backup folder backup(a)backup.invalid; I'm cleaning up daily like this: infimum=`date -d "-4 day" +"%Y-%m-%d"` doveadm expunge -u backup(a)backup.invalid mailbox INBOX SAVEDBEFORE $infimum doveadm purge -u backup(a)backup.invalid yet I see this: # find attachments/ -type f -ctime +5 | wc -l 7522 # find attachments/ -type f | wc -l 127579 # find attachments/ -type f -mtime +5 | wc -l 14361 # find attachments/ -type f | wc -l 127793 About 5.9% of the files in attachments and below are older than 5 days. Why? SELinux policy to allow Dovecot to connect to Mysql

As I have noted in previous messages, I been getting the following on my new mailserver: Apr 7 10:17:27 z9m9z dovecot: dict: Error: mysql(localhost): Connect failed to database (postfix): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13) - waiting for 25 seconds before retry They go away when I setenforce 0. It is not a timing issue as I earlier thought. So I googled dovecot mysql selinux and the only worthwhile hit was: http://zszsit.blogspot.com/2012/12/dovecot-mysql-selinux-issue-on-centos6.h… that provides a /etc/selinux/dovecot2mysql.te and other selinux stuff. Is there a simpler way like a setsbool option? With all the howtos on dovecot with mysql, it is interesting that none of them seem to have this problem. Maybe because they connect to mysql through TCP port 3306 which has ITS set of problems (like MariaDB defaults to not listening on TCP). thanks!

auth: Error - Request timed out

Hello List, i use dovecot 2.2.22 and have the same problem described here: https://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2017-November/110020.html I can confirm that sometimes there is a problem with connection to mysql-db, but sometimes not. Reasons for failing are still under investigation by my mates. My current main problem is, that this fail seems to be a one way ticket for dovecot. Even if mysql is verifyable working again and waiting for connection dovecot stucks furthermore with errors like this: May 29 07:00:49 hostname dovecot: auth: Error: plain(mail(a)example.com,xxx.xxx.xx.xxx,<HGI4FVFt2Oy80j3P>): Request 999.7 timed out after 150 secs, state=1 When restarting dovecot all is immediately working again. Is there a way to tell dovecot to restart auth services or reinitialize mysql-connection after these hard fails? I could insert "idle_kill = 1 mins" into service auth and service auth-worker, but i dont know if this would work. Unfortunately i am not able to reproduce this error and there are always a couple of days between errors. Thanks, Hajo
