Hello, I've just updated to 2.0.9 and I've got lots of these in the logs now. Jan 13 18:57:13 master: Error: service(imap): child 40100 killed with signal 11 (core not dumped - set service imap { drop_priv_before_exec=yes }) Is there a configuration change or something else I should have done while updating? [Dovecot] [PATCH] auth: Fixed mech_winbind_ntlm by using mech_winbind_auth_initial()

Hi folks, attached is a trivial patch which is fixing Winbind/NTLM authentication in dovecot 2.0 series. The patch was made against 2.0.8 sources, but there should be no problem applying it onto HEAD, because 'src/auth/mech-winbind.c' wasn't touched for quite some time now ;) I tested the patch with a dovecot 2.0.8 running on linux, authenticating against a WindowsServer 2008R2 Enterprise using ntlm_auth/winbind (from current stable samba 3.5.6). I successfully tested NTLM authentication for IMAP and POP3 (with and without STARTTLS) using following MUAs for the test: - Thunderbird 3.1.7 (Linux X86-64) - Outlook Express 6.00 (Windows XP Pro Qemu-KVM) Cheers, Chris Patch Description: In changeset 9002 a new function named mech_winbind_auth_initial() was introduced, but only the mech_winbind_spnego module part was changed to finally use this function. The mech_winbind_ntlm module part was not properly adapted which leads to a non functioning NTLM authentication mechanism while using winbind, because it will never call the `ntlm_auth` helper. The simple fix is to replace mech_generic_auth_initial() with mech_winbind_auth_initial() as auth_initial "hook" when setting up the mech_winbind_ntlm module, like it is done in the mech_winbind_spnego module. [Dovecot] dovecot lda and quota plugin with mysql

Dear all, I have postfix delivering to dovecot lda (via spamassinassin). I have configured the quota plugin, but it does not seem to respect the details in the quota table in mysql. The query I have used looks correct to me, and the user can connect to the database. I wonder if someone might put me straight on the misconfiguration. Hi, I have a user called archive that gets a BCC of all incoming/outgoing email. I would like to have the email in the new/cur directories setup to be read only, is there a way to do this in dovecot 2.0.8. I know you can set the umask in the dovecot config but I believe this is a global setting. Thanks, Paul

[Dovecot] Rename public folders

I've got a number of public mailboxes configured for my users. We pretty much have to use Entourage for a client, which insists on creating all new subfolders with the name 'Untitled Folder'. When they try to rename these subfolders with useful names, Dovecot returns A028 NO [CANNOT] Renaming not supported across non-private namespaces. I guess this is because renaming a subfolder could potentially break subscriptions for other users? Or is it a hard requirement from IMAP RFC? If the former, is the problem merely very complicated, but eventually fixable, or is it just intractable? We're using Dovecot 2.0.7 from the atrpms RPM, Redhat EL 5.0. Interesting since imap_acl also makes dovecot segfault. Maybe there is a problem in the way Dovecot loads plugins? So we have to put these emails in a spam folder in case the user wants to look at it. But we're not using them yet in email storage. Like Brad we're using Netapp filers because as far as I know they're one of the few commercially available HA filesystem companies. We've looked at EMC and Sun as well, but havent found a reason to move away from Netapp. In 12 years of netapp we've only had 1 major outage that lasted half a day (and made the front page of national news papers). So, understand that bit. Major outages make it to national news papers for us. HA, failover, etc are kind of important to us. > > So why not build something ourselves and use SSD? It would take significant amounts of engineering time, testing, migrating, etc etc. And the benefits are uncertain. We dont know if an open source HA alternative can give us another 12 years of virtually faultless operation. It may. It may not. Email is not something to start gambling with.
